You mean have one of those adult discussions like Jeff wants. Well I suppose that could work. I was just venting a little and pointing out that this whole thing started as a suggestion and not something Jeff just implemented out of the blue as a way "to make more money". I don't think he stands much of a chance at getting rich off it anyway. Better keep playing that lottery. Porn and chipolte ain't cheap.

Neither are lap jobs but Jeff makes due ;)

Sorry Jeff, couldn't resist.

Thanks for the compliment Omar. This forum was getting a little crowded so i went off to play some counter-strike for a while.

Ok I get Johns point of view that if all the moderators I mentioned got voted then everyone would be having to make rides like us, but it wouldn't be like that, we still want to see designers come up from the bottom ranks, it's people who post coasters with "super fast ultra mega looper" as its title and its just a load of crap that im concerned about. theres is a difference between being a jerk and actually trying.

It's going to be sad to see alot of people go, I don't know whats happened to RCTandy, he was one of my favourites, will he still be posting here.

All I can say is im glad I got my "Island Paradise" coaster uploaded before I got screwed over. Thanks for your time guys. See you around. I'll still be posting on Coaster2k if you want to check out my coasters.

Ok these are just suggestion for the "group" of moderators. Me, RCTandy, Omar, Lord Gonchar, Ross McColl, The Force of G, Kick the Sky, and bb_dg.

we are all good designers, we know whats good and bad, we will automatically delete bad/stupid/immature uploads (instead of instant ban, this way people will know not to upload crap but still be able to upload)

This is what I meant DE@NO2 Your second paragraph says alot. Yea I agrre that you are all good but I don't agree that you "know" what's good or bad. It's a matter of taste. Would you delete the file if someone built a simple impulse because it doesn't have an elaborate design or what about the 100000 TT Dragsters over there that are basically the same. What about a real world recreation of a Taxi Jam?

Remember a while back when I got blasted for uploading a TA2K? Someone said I should check out Lord Gonch's coasters. Well a few days later he uploaded a shuttle and was being blasted for it.

I do think it was nice of you to volunteer your time however the whole arguement is for nothing now anyway. I don't see Jeff changing it back. He already said he doesn't care if the section dies from this.

I really think everyone is missing the greater point here. Jeff runs a coaster site that is well moderated and doesnt have the normal AOLer speak and flamewars and other nonsense that goes on at other forumns. Bottom line is that it is for mature discussion of something we all love, which is coasters. If mature discussion is not your cup of tea, that is fine. Just find another place to take part in that type of discussion and move on. There are many places on the web where you can do that.

When Jeff created the Games site, he didnt realize all of the moderating that would need to be done to keep the discussions as moderated on the main site. I think that requiring the club membership is the best way to "self-moderate" most of the site so that people who want to go to a place to share their rides and not get involved in petty flamewars and AOLer talk can do so. As I said above, if all of that stuff doesnt bother you, there are several places on the web where you can do that. If you want a more mature environment, unfortunately you will have to pay for that privelage.

The one thing that really hacks me off is when people complain about club membership in general. The days of free internet sites are growing shorter and shorter. Web based advertising hardly earns one enough to host a quality web site. Believe me, 20 bucks a year is a bargain. You are lucky he isnt charging 20 bucks a month. Everyone says it is about getting the events. I didnt go to any events last year as a club member and went to one as a club member this year. For me it isnt about that. It is about getting an ad free site with a track record, and now also full access to CBGames. I also can change the color of the site, and do other nifty things to make my experience more enjoyable while I surf out here. The biggest perk is I am helping keep this outlet for more mature coaster conversation on the internet. That is worth the 20 bucks alone.

And for those of you that think Jeff is being unfair or that Jeff can't do this, you are so very very wrong. You see, Jeff is the one who pays the bills for this site so what he says goes. No if's and's or but's. You might say that the number of posters will drop off. That is his worry. If he is worried about it he will do something, otherwise stay out of his face for it. Like Jeff said, the more you whine and ***** and moan about this, the more you prove the necessity of having CB Games be members only...

It's also worth mentioning that half of event attendees aren't even CB members.

The bigger picture is that I, since I ultimately am the one who pays the bills, would rather have a half-dozen people contributing quality stuff than a thousand who post crap (both files and comments). It isn't really any more complicated than that.

The good news, on a personal note, is that I've got a handle on hosting costs, so with any luck some time next year I might actually make a buck after paying off the business debt. When that day comes, don't expect me to be apologetic for profiting from something I enjoy doing.

What time does the water show start?

If you ever feel like putting up the cost don't worry about it Jeff, the people who matter will put in the time and money to be a member of a quality club.

Well I would for a start.

And if the group turns out to be a small one can we have a secret hand-shake?

Amongst all of this, I'd like to pose a question to everyone that is complaining about the cost of $20/year for a CB Club membership:

Why not get a job?

I'm not sure what the minium age is for employment in every state, but I'm sure that it is 14 or 15. At that age, you can probably get a job at any grocery or department store (everyone has a local Wal-Mart, right?) or at a restaurant waiting tables or serving food behind a counter. If not, go around your neighborhood and offer to mow lawns, rake leaves or shovel snow for old people. Its what I did when I was in junior high school, before I was old enough to get a "real" job. Surely you can make that $20 in a matter of days if you try hard enough.

I know that there is the issue of school and homework and all that stuff, but that stuff is life. You shouldn't be trying to convince your parents to hand you over a twenty, you should be convincing them to let you get a job and start earning something for yourself. I guarantee that a membership in the CB Club would be much better if you earned it yourself!

LOL Lord Goncher. I'll buy some of your "mean", "green" brownies when we have our bake sale. It kind of reminds me of That 70's episode when they had their garage sale and Hyde made his famous brownies. Boy did mama like them.

Anyways, not that I post much here nor on the Games site, I am a 2 year paying member and am in support of Jeff and his decisions. I've been on other boards and I get tired of the bull (cough cough -- I'm seeing flowers all over my walls now thinking of brownies) that goes on over there. That is why I respect CoasterBuzz.com and will always renew my membership.

Rob: It isn't that we can't get the money. I could pay the price if it was $20/month. It's the fact that Jeff is making us pay $20 to comment, upload, and download files. Something that was free here and is free at many other sites. Maybe if the membership had better benfits than maybe I would pay for it. It is the ultimate rip-off. Instead of giving us privelages for joining the club Jeff is taking away stuff for not joining the club. This is just ridiculous. The sad thing is that some of these people are actually going to pay the $20 now just because of the games section. I am so disgusted with this site lately that it's ridiculous.

Would it be so hard to ban the people who are violating the rules and posting crap?

Get a job for exactly four hours at minimum wage, and you have just made more than it costs to join this site for a year.

Why are you people acting like it's a freakin' mortgage payment?

Let's see... I could buy the new album by my favorite "alternative" band with the name misspelled to look more exxxtreme, I could get two pizzas and a 2 liter of Fresca, I could ride that carousel down at the mall ten (count 'em: TEN!) times, I could subscribe to Playboy for a year, or I could join the CBClub. (Good thing I had $40. ;) )

The point that everyone seems to miss except for a few is that Jeff doesn't care if the "popularity" of the Games site goes down. You know how much he makes on the site now? Nothing. If no one else joins and only the four hundred current club members can use the site, he makes exactly the same.

This paralells the stupid ACE'r argument back when the Enthusiasts on Alert post was made. People were warned, now people have to face consequences. It's as simple as that.

I joined the club the first day I could. I've never gone to an event. Never gotten any discounts. I'm not even part of the "in-clique" here. I don't care. I like this site, I don't want it to go away, and I'm willing to fork over some money to back that up.

If you can't come up with $20 over the period of twelve months, then maybe you should turn the computer off and get a job. If you're not willing to shell out this exorbitant fee, then you're probably the reason that it was imposed in the first place.
