Anyhow, like I said before, I love this idea. I've always wanted to be a member but I just kept procrastinating. Now the fire has been lit. I frequent the site alot and love to see what other members have to offer. I can do without the zero'ing, playa hatin' (tm) and bickering.

Lyrically, I'm supposed to represent
I'm not only a client, I'm the playa president!
I've been getting into RCT2 again, and have even been participating in the games section a little, too.
Unfortunately, participating over there was also a serious grind on my nerves at times.
A forum to exchange ride ideas with other reasonable people sounds great.
Good move.
Same with me, Antuan. I've always said "I'll get around to it" when it came to CB Club. Now it's just making me get off my ass and do it...even though I still haven't found the motivation leave the room, go down to the car and find my credit card.
I figure I'll have to leave for something eventually, then I'll grab it.

Maybe we will see more 7/8's being given out for the above average rides instead of flying into the top ten with 9.85 for a standard giga with good stats?
I hope so, as I like to get comments from people as to how i can improve track design, performance etc. And maybe if there are fewer members there will be fewer rides so more time would be spent commenting?
Am I right? or am I babbling?
i live in Australia so i dont get the benefits of the convetions, and organised events which are in america, so paying $20 just to upload rides is not worth it. there should be a pay and non pay section.
since coming to coasterbuzz ive gotten along well with the guys in the games section and my skills as a designer have improved dramatically, ask anyone. now i cant even post a reply to my rides or even upload because i have to pay. sorry to disappoint many people here but if it remains a pay site im going to have to upload somewhere else.
How can you people think this is a good idea? I don't care if the price is low! You are falling into Jeff's trap!
Jeff, I know you are just trying to cover some site expenses but this is getting ridiculous.

As far as "cutting off" a certain segment of users - I think that's the point. Both on the level of "idiots" and on the level of maintenance.
It works on all levels. If you care enough about the exchange to complain, then supporting it shouldn't be much of a problem...
...don't make Jeff go into his "the internet won't always be free" speech - regardless of how correct he is ;)

No more layout/pacing/scenery reviews. ;)
Later people.
The idea is indeed to control the quality of people contributing. It's not even about me trying to cover costs (though that's certainly a nice side effect). Hell, even if I were destined to make millions, I don't see why that's such a crime. I thought capitalism was an OK thing to do, not to mention it's nice to get paid for something you enjoy doing.
As usual, people have to make it about me.

Yes, by all means, Jeff. This site should be a charity for the poor and destitute of the coaster world. For shame, trying to make money by offering something like this to enthusiasts. And on the internet, no less. What is this world coming to? ;)
The two above comments almost made me ram my head through a wall.

I just think it's crazy to charge for something that used to be free here and is free everywhere else. If you want to be stupid and pay $20 for a few features that aren't even worth 1/4 of that go ahead.
Oh, and by the way, I was just stating my opinion and if I can't do that here without getting smartass remarks thrown at me than Goodbye.

And king of ratings is a nice little title. ;)
I'm still not in heavy support of this idea, but hey, I'll get what I can take.
