Banshee media day at Kings Island

Now, I'm back to being on the fence. More than likely, I'll still make it - but it might be at the expense of sleep, because I might have to drive down in the morning, and back home right after the event.

My job decided to cut team members, leaving me as the only one in the office who can do my job, and I certainly wouldn't want to look like a douchebag for having to work while at the park. :)

By the way, you can wear CoasterBuzz stuff, if you have any (I don't think anyone has bought stuff in a long time). I was asked to pass that along.

Yeah, I was roughly 60 lbs lighter when I had the infamous yellow CoasterBuzz T-shirt. I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen :)

Opposite of Gonch's situation, everything keeps falling into place for me to be able to be there. I was a little worried that it wouldn't, but the last piece of the puzzle just fell into place a few hours ago and I am 98% sure that I will be there.

Like Josh, lack of sleep will also be a problem for me. I can either come home at 9pm the night before and sleep until 1:30am before I have to leave for the park, or I can leave for the park at 9pm, make the 4 hour drive, and sleep in the car somewhere until the event begins. I have a hotel room reserved for that night, but I don't think I will be able to use it.

I will for sure be there on Friday too to enjoy the entire park! Some friends from my hometown will also be there, so I will be hanging out with them a lot that day.

That's great news. I've been waiting for the opportunity to dig out my CoasterBuzz thong once again.

Edit: The terms "dig out" and "thong" should never be used in the same sentence.

And yet you did it twice. ;)

I'm in again. Everything is golden. :)

Travis, why wouldn't you be able to use your hotel room? Even if you check in and sleep for 3 hours - 3 hours of bed sleep is better than 3 hours of car sleep.

Fewer bed bugs in the car? Welcome to Ohio.

I saw a guy being an entitled dick on his Facebook page because he couldn't wear anything he wanted, because, you know, 'Merica! or whatever. Please don't anyone here be that guy.

I was baffled. With attitudes like that, media days for coaster fans will soon go the way of the pay phone.

And then I realized why it might be better if I can't make it...

Josh, I wouldn't want to spend $75 on a hotel room if I am only going to sleep in it for three hours. It seems like a waste of money to me when the seat in my car reclines comfortably. The only problem is finding a safe enough place to park while I catch some shut-eye.

I might skip out on Wednesday night band practice and make the drive that night and use my hotel room. A good nights sleep before the event sounds nice.

Can't management just not allow people with the wrong attire to not be allowed on the ride? They would definitely sell more Banshee t-shirts at the event that way.

And here, I thought I was just giving a friendly reminder :-)

The disconnect people have that want perks is astounding, because it isn't complicated. It goes like this: "Do what we ask, we'll hook you up with rides and food."

Oh, and complaining about it on the Internets is probably not going to work in your favor.

A fun activity would be to hang around the registration desk and watch these tools get turned away.

It never ceases to amaze me that people think media day is an enthusiast day. The park enjoys having enthusiasts in attendance because we're, well, enthusiastic. But they're also running serious business that day, promoting their product and brand. And they could surely do it without us if necessary.

I got a hotel room for Wednesday night, but if it goes anything like last year I won't be able to sleep. I have the option to extend it for Thursday night as well and attend Fridays opening day, but I bet I leave and make my way home Thursday afternoon.

Now I wish I had Coasterbuzz gear. I have a good friend at our local Fox station and I offered myself as a well spoken, informed, (not to mention extremely attractive) enthusiast if the reporter would like a reaction to the ride. I think they're gonna take me up on it. I'd really like to be representin' my homies here at the 'Buzz, but I guess my KI hoodie will have to do.

Let's not forget why KI is putting on this event: for the pub. The actual media members will write about the event in their various outlets, but by including enthusiasts I'm sure the hope is that we spread the good word through social media and what have you so that the GP catches wind of just how awesome the new ride is. So, make sure to get on Twitface and Booker and Instablog and all that crap and send some love to Banshee and KI.

It also never ceases to amaze me how enthusiasts act on enthusiast days. See: And then I died alone.

CoasterBuzz - for people enthusiastic about coasters, but not roller coaster enthusiasts.

I can't believe this is an actual issue for people. I mean seriously.

I really hope Kings Island simply turns them away if they won't get proper attire. Force them to buy some KI swag if they plan to ride anything.
