The escort back is to keep an orderly single file line to the ride before it opens. You should be able to arrive anytime later and walk right back to Banshee if it is anything like Gatekeeper Media day.
I was originally planning to arrive between 4:30 and 5:30 and stay all the way through until 2:00 but my plans have changed. I now will have to leave around 8:30 to head into work for the day so my media day will be cut short.
I will not be able to attend the opening ceremony/meet and greet at 9:30. This still seems like a good point in the schedule to meet up, I just won't be able to make it.
How about we try for a secondary earlier meet up time. Perhaps meet for breakfast at the Chicken Shack Restaurant at 7:00.

Gatekeeper media day lunch was pretty fun, so I agree we should meet up again. I'm down for breakfast or whatever. I'll be there, probably with my red nikon, snagging some photos, if I remember it :)
It's supposed to be 34 at 5:30 a.m. Pretty sure I'm not going to bother getting there that early.

Given the weather and itinerary, I can't see any reason to show up before 9.
I would suspect due to our colder than normal weather, maintenance may have some heaters on stand-by to heat the trains (wheels) up if needed....kind of a common practice anymore, especially for something important like a media day.
I'm sure the coaster will be just fine.
Up at 4am to ride a coaster in near-freezing weather in the dark? No. Thank you.
By 9, the bright spring sun should have the day under control.
Well good more rides for me. I was about 1/2 way back the initial line and the wait was about 45 min. Current wait seems to be maybe 30 min.

Someone way high up at CF is sitting in their plush office today, pondering the question that MUST be on everyone's mind...
How on Planet EARTH did Kings island possibly go THIS long without a full-circuit inverted ride. The merch is going to be flying off the shelves, attendance will hit a new record, guests comments will be *extremely* positive...
For those of us not at media day:

Thanks for the link. Tried to find a non-animated POV earlier but couldn't. Looks like a great ride. Hope the event goes was well as media day last year for Gatekeeper which was a lot of fun.
Chicago's WGN TV sent reported Marcus LeShock to Kings Island.

The ride looks amazing. But that sign is just AWESOME. I think entrances really help set the tone for a ride.
But then again, what do I know?
Quick thoughts:
The drop is much steeper that I had expected. It really turns and drops quickly.
The top half is pretty standard B&M fare (a good thing) with a unique order for an inverted. Very rideable.
Then you drop down over the hill and it just starts kicking your ass. WAY more positive G's than I expected. The first ride in a long time to give me "jello feet"
Heard lots of mixed feelings about the "slow" roll between the final helices. Given the relentless back half, it's a weird fit, but I didn't mind it.
Good stuff.
Cedar Fair has been doing a really great job with their ride entrances lately!
So how are the new restraints?
Well put, Gonch. It's the perfect description.
I love that ride. It might be my favorite invert, thanks to that bottom half. It's so intense. I
