Any Michigan's Adventure news?

Sorry but you're wrong. Geauga Lake ran successfully for years by slowly growing but then Premier overbuilt it into a park that couldn't pay for itself.

I have been to the park under all 3 owners. The park was a smelly eyesore before Six Flags took over. The Raging Wolf Bobs was pretty much falling apart, and the park was over-run with lots of loud mouth rotten teens. A good majority of the rides were closed, and the ones that weren't closed were in really bad shape. We also went to Sea World, which made Geauga Lake look like it's toilet. Sea World was an outstanding park, with 10 times as many guests as Geauga Lake.

When Six Flags took over both parks, it was like a dream come true for me. I could have cared less about the loss of the whales. And, with all the great coasters and rides Six Flags added to the park, they made it 100 times better. And, it's too bad that World's Of Adventure went under, but, it did not go under because of what they did with Geauga Lake, it went under because of what the company was doing with all of it's parks, and it's massive debt chain wide. Geauga Lake was a victim of cost cutting, and one of several parks that were sold to pay off it's creditors. They made it into a beautiful, clean, and fun place to be.

Cedar fair then comes along, and buys the park for a fraction of it's value, slaps new names on the coasters due to copywrites on DC comics, and does little or nothing with the park, other than adding some landscaping, and a few changes to the water park, and totally ignored the Sea World side of the park, only eyeing to sell it as real estate, and then gives up on the park all together, so they can relocate it's rides to their own parks, and operate it as a water park, for the same price of admission that Six Flags was charging for both parks as Worlds of Adventure.

So, tell me again who ruined it.

Also, Cedar Fair could have saved the Big Dipper, which was a classic coaster, and added it to their other parks, and chose not to. They also could have made use of the great rides that they just let go, in exchange for chump change. That's just sad.

Never. I would always use the word 'a' before a word that starts with a consonant.

Ok. Premiere did. They built it up into a huge and amazing park that the region couldn't support. I loved Worlds of Adventure but if it was capable of turning a profit, Six Flags wouldn't have let it go for nothing and Cedar Fair would have held on to it.

Why was it sold for a fraction of its value?

You're precisely why this country is becoming more of a joke every day on the global stage. Boasting about being ignorant isn't cool, it just makes you look stupid.

I think you're taking his post a little too literally.

I'm the last guy who liked what Dick Kinzel did with that park. Nevertheless, this statement is ridiculous. If anything, Cedar Fair paid substantially over market value at the time.

Didn't they pay $125M for it? I remember thinking the ride hardware alone had to be worth a substantial chunk of the cost.

And re: Timber Rider
Your beloved Premier went bankrupt precisely because they overbuilt all their parks. Their solution to every problem was "build another big ride."

Bad customer service? Build another big ride. Terrible food? Build another big ride. Dirty bathrooms? Build another big ride. It landed them in bankruptcy and one of the first thing Shapiro said when he came on board as CEO was "No more Goliaths." (referring to SFoG's which had just opened). Who cares if SFWoA (whoa, there's a throwback acronym) was a nice, fun, thrilling, beautiful park with lots of great rides. If nobody came, it was still a terrible business decision.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I've always maintained that CF's big mistake was not shutting down the Sea World side and concentrating everything on the GL side. CF basically kept twice the overhead, with, really minimal increase in customer value (a bigger water park).

I've never been to Mi A, but doesn't CF keep adding to the water park side?

I forgot to mention how deliciously much I love Steak 'n' Shake! Love it!

Five Guys is great, but here in Huntington WV, it's just way too expensive for what you get, in my opinion.

The large fries may be close to $5, but they're more than adequate for at least 3 people. :)

I don't eat there because it's all red meat. A little chicken wouldn't kill them. Do they need a sixth guy for that?

Their veggie burger is vegetables on a bun... There are two "gourmet" burger joints in the Pittsburgh area that serve incredible veggie burgers (Burgatory and BRGR), wish Five Guys would do the same.

It's so hard to find a decent veggie burger at a burger joint. There's a place near me that serves up a pretty good one, and when it's topped like one of their regular burgers, you can barely tell that it's fake.

Our local place has a pretty good black bean burger. My wife likes it a lot.

It's good to see a burger point that just sells burgers. Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers has about 6 kinds of chicken sandwiches, not to mention wraps, nuggets, etc. Many of the "fast food" places have menu boards so vast that it's like reading War and Peace.

I hate Burger King, but they serve a Bocca Burger that is not terrible. Still, I prefer Bocca burgers from the grocery store... Yum!

If you really want a good burger and your heading south from M.A., there is a good locally owned burger place in Kalamazoo. It is called Niskers. It is only about 1.5 hours from M.A. They even serve Beefalo burgers.

Has M.A gotten a cheese on stick stand yet?

I like a good tauntaun burger when I can find it. Of course, it's practically always made frozen...
