Chris Godsey - IIRC some bigwig at Jazzland mentioned during the ACE Spring Con that the SLC deal was dead - and was surprised by the round of applause from the attendees.

Chris: Once you start listing the new coasters, it doesn't look as bleak as I thought.
Yeah Moosh, I know.. BUT
SLC supports have been spotted on site in the last week or so.... I know that supports look alike, but certain Vekoma SLC supports are easy to differentiate. Personally I heard they were gonna dump in a BTDK clone and be done with the park for a while.. That certainly makes sense.

Thanks for the update on Jazzland, Chris. Seems they'll be getting something, that's for sure. One more thing: can we assume its safe to add Six Flags Mexico's Morgan hyper to that list? I seem to recall they cleared their problems and construction has continued [something I'll be able to confirm when I visit SFM in two weeks].
Or was that project moved to SFWoA?

When I had lunch with the VP of sales in May, he told me that the SFM hyper could be moving back to its original location.. SFWOA.
I do know that particular coaster was designed for WOA and then it was modified slightly to fit SFM's terrain. So, if it does come back, it will need some modification. For some reason, I dont think that SF would want to move it back up North, but I havent heard of any more work being done in Mexico. Last I heard, the Government hadn't granted the permits to proceed. Now, that was in May so things could have changed. Since you are going down, look to see if any footers are being poured. Also, look for flags. If you see no flags or hole for footers, its possible the coaster might be moving back up to Ohio.

"Yes, PKI anounced Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle, but they have yet to anounce the ride that will sit on the former King Cobra spot. I`ve heard that future PKI ride anouncement(s) would be happening in August to boost 2003 season pass sales. "
Ha, ha! Stupid people at PKI! If they think I am buying another season pass next year they have another thing comming. I used my pass this year twice compared to my at least 20 times last year. Stupid Scooby Doo Ride. I'm not paying 80 dollars for that crap. PKI's attendance will fall drastically next year. Mark my words.
So you will be the one that helps their profits when you pay full price for admission because you can't help coming there every week for the great entertainment and sweet rides they already have.
A dark ride like Scooby will ensure that more families take the trip to such a family oriented park like PKI. Think about it. People are not travelling like they used to. Small car trips are the best bet right now. I took many small trips this year and definately put PKI on my list because of the many family rides that they do have. Thank you PKI for creating a great mix of family and thrill rides together.
I'll second timberguy and add one more comment to pkifanatic:
Both SFStL and SFFT added Scooby dark rides this year, and both parks have reported a nice increase in their attendance, with 2+ hours waits at SFStL's version quite common. I'd be willing to bet PKI see's the same reaction next year.
Its NOT all about coasters, you know.

Not only has attendance increased, but per cap spending shot through the roof!
Per cap spending is what drives the revenue in amusement parks. With season passes on the rise, parks dont make money on the gate receipts. Usually the gate helps pay the overhead. But the per cap spending is what chains like SF use to determine if rides get put in certain parks. Remember, a family of 4 going to SFSTL to check out scooby is gonna spend LOTS of money to eat, stay cool, and have fun. Everybody wins from those rides becoming successful. I would be anything that PKI follows up Scooby with a coaster in 2004. So, thsnk you Sally Corp!

I wouldn't rule out SFA entirely for a new coaster/ ride of some sort in 03 just yet.
The park took a year off from major additions and there's already been some construction work of some sort spotted over to the right of Batwing.
After taking 02 off and what with the competition from PKD & BGW in 03 SFA is going to need a new ride to continue to attract guests, not to mention spreading the lines out a bit. They are also adding Lo-Q in 03 and I'm sure they will want to test it out on a major new ride first.
SFA may not be as popular as say SFGRADV or SFMM but it's not an SFEG or SFKK either.
Well, I can see enthusiasts are getting picky again, Coast2coaster_. If they get an intamin woodie, that would suck royally. Oh please. Whatever ride they feel the park needs to keep attendance up and keep the people coming, is the ride they will get. They dont go by the opinions of coaster enthusiasts. Should be happy with whatever the park receives, most parks dont get anything.

If SF doesn't put the hyper at SFWoA they might as well not open next season, considering what the competition will have.
