Oh, I have nothing against speculating and trying to determine whats coming next year. I mean im just as interested as the next guy. We should just enjoy the rides we got now before the parks close for the season.
And Joe, let me just say, very impressive track record. I remember how you did the trip with Keith, and only added 2 coasters to your list out of all those parks. So waiting for that something new to ride is always on the mind. :-)

Mike,
Yeah, that could very well be a big part about why I'm so excited about upcoming years new rides; I need something new to ride! ;)
Even with only adding two coasters that trip (PKD's mouse, bah, damn those brakes, but I still won the "crush the person next to you" game, hah) and Batman Dark Knight (pretty disappointing first ride, lil better the second time, but still nothing to write home about) it was still amazing because of the quality the East Coast parks have. Not to mention the hectic schedule (now there's an understatement!) kept us on our toes. But yeah, goes to show you don't need shiny, brand spakin' new coasters to still have a great trip.

The SFWoA hyper was a topic of discussion for a few minutes yesterday while at SFGAm -- seems as though people are still saying Morgan. I remember Draeger saying he saw Intamin track heading toward SFWoA (right, James?) and Dan telling Jeff he had seen track pieces at the park. I don't believe anything was said after that, but two people seeing Intamin track in the vicinity of SFWoA certainly bodes well. I'd much rather have an Intamin at SFWoA!

It tastes like burning.
You WON'T ever see a Batman clone at SFFT. There is already one litterally down the street. Flyer is my guess.
I seem to remember Scooby-Doo coming fairly early, and the year before there was already Boardwalk Blaster on the maps, a full 6 months or so early.
I wouldnt count out the "Batman Knight Flight" B&M flyer at SFFT.....
More announcements will surface over the next 3-4 weeks. Most major chaind have their purchases made by the IAAPA supper meeting in Sept. Some of them will be finalized during that meeting at CP this year.

“If you give a enthusiast a footer.......He’ll want a coaster!!!"
Wow, Chris really wants me to go ahead and finalize TX for next year...before their wood goes even further downhill....(just based on reports, mind you)....
bill, still a little sad about Joker's Revenge, but hopeful Taz will be resurrected sometime....backwards coasters RULE....

If you're not watching "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart", you're just watching the news....
Kings Dominion has announced their Drop Ride, but no Name or Anything! They should name it Paramount Plunge. I know, I'm genius! :)
I was really hoping for a coaster seeing as Ricochet wasn't popular, but I guess not! :(

Take it up a notch, Mr. Operator! I wanna feel my brains in my feet!
"Yes, PKI anounced Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle, but they have yet to anounce the ride that will sit on the former King Cobra spot. I`ve heard that future PKI ride anouncement(s) would be happening in August to boost 2003 season pass sales. "
Ha, ha! Stupid people at PKI! If they think I am buying another season pass next year they have another thing comming. I used my pass this year twice compared to my at least 20 times last year. Stupid Scooby Doo Ride. I'm not paying 80 dollars for that crap. PKI's attendance will fall drastically next year. Mark my words.

I hope that all of you who consider call a SF park your home park aren't disappointed. SF has already announced that they plan to spend about $140 million on capital expenditures for 2002. Of that, $19.8 million is earmarked for the Partnership parks (oG and oT) and approx. $15 million for LeRonde, per the terms of the purchase agreement ($90 million Canadian = approx US$58 million over 4 years beginning in 2002.)
Of the remaining $100 million, we know that SFGAm has a new ride to replace Whizzer, and if it's the rumored Flyer, well, that takes a big chunk out of that pie. The new Seattle area park, Enchanted Village, will continue to receive some attention. There are 38 parks worldwide. Probably be a lean year for new coasters in 2003 at SF perhaps offset by some new, cool flat rides.
Chris, I like the idea of the interactive dark rides like Scooby Doo driving the increase in family attendance. The purpose of new attractions is to increase attendance and market penetration and if it's working at FT and StL, this model will be repeated at other SF parks. Scooby Doo, the B:TR for the new century! One question...what did Scooby cost? How does it compare to other attractions - coasters, water rides, flats?
SF is only rumored to be spending $125 million in 2003,the 2002 budget for 2002 has already been spent.
I'm hoping that they will focus their expenditures for 03 towards the parks that didn't recieve any major spending for the 02 season.
So far we've got SFGRAm getting a ride to replace Whizzer,SFGRADVand SFOT rumored to get B&M flyers,SFFT rumored to get something and we've got some land work going on at SFA for a possible new coaster,at this point La Ronde is only getting flat rides.
Let's not forget that we've also got SFWOA getting a hyper and SF Seattle getting a woodie.
Now here are a few parks that we know will most likely take 2003 off :SFDL:they just got SWF in 02,SFEG : after getting TFC they'll probably be taking it easy for a while,SFKK : they probably won't get much if anything in 03.
The RCDB 2003 list is now available so we'll just have to check the list during the off season so we'll find out once and for all just which parks will get coasters in 03 and which ones will not.

Talk about a brain fart! Is it 2002 already?
I guess allocation of the CapX budget still applies: LeRonde still gets theirs, and oG and oT each are guaranteed a minimum investment during rolling 5 year periods based on 6% of park revenues.
The only difference between 02 and 03 is the budgeted dollars is even smaller.

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone/B:TDK
The SFSTL model was a whopping 1.2 million dollars. It used all of the old Castaway Kids stuff with the exception of the scene items. The SFFT model was a little over 3 million. Not a bad price for a ride that packs in the families.
Next year will be scarce coaster wise, but most of their parks will receive some improvements whether it be new attractions or rehabs of existing ones. The new coasters will probably be:
Enchanted Village GCI woodie-promised in contract purchase last year (not included in capital expenditures for 03)
SFGam-Flyer to replace whizzer
SFFT- Flyer to replace Joker
SFWOA-Hyper(probably Morgan)
SFGAdv-Intamin woodie
These are rumored to be in 03 or 04:
SFSTL-Hyper near the Gotham area
SFMM- Intamin woodie running along the back side of the park
Jazzland-SLC or floorless(promised in contract, not included in 03 expenditures)
SFAW- Intamin Impulse with double twisting spikes
SFKK- Same as SFAW
Also with the money guaranteed to OT and OG, expect to see flats galore.
