Adds going wild

Yes, it would be a piece of cake to detect if a pop-up blocker is in place, though I'm not going to tell you how. ;)

Whether at work(like now) or at home I too get bombarded by pop ups. Its ridiculous. I got three on the main page when i first logged on and two everytime I go to a new page on the site. I can guarantee that my comp at work doesn't have programs like kazaa on it. This is really odd how some of us are getting flooded with pop ups and others aren't. I too have posted about this before. O well..............

How many times do I have to say it? There isn't code on the site to produce more than one per page, so if you're getting two, you have something else (like Gator) installed.

Even 1 per page is a little.... much. I mean, it taked 3 pages to get to the forums. And if you want to go anywhere else, more popups!! Most sites i visit have one at the homepage... and usually that is it. I'm non a paying member here, but for what the site is to me.. i cant see a need for alot of profits ( a-la 1 per page ).. but, i'm not the one running it am i? I guess you're just not really one of those.. generous webhosts are ye ;)?

Don't even get me started about what this site has cost me the past three years...

I don't get any, but even if I wanted, I still couldn't view them. It seems as-if my router is preventing the ads from poping up. Also ever time I load a new page, in the bottom left-hand corner of IE, it says "RETURN CODE at www.burstnet.com... " then it says "opening page getas.aspx?a=1&r=2379 at ads.popw.com.... " those two things will appear about 3 times per page load, while the one that says something like "opening page www.coasterbuzz.com will appear only once. This leads me to belive that more than one ad would be opening per page.

How did *I* get brought into this...;)

J/k, but yes, programs that run "in the background" will OFTEN produce additional pop-ups...I get my *extra pop-ups* usually through Blubster....clicking the close box, man is that exhausting...;)

Seriously Gator...

I think people who complain about having to close pop-up windows greatly underestimate how much they are taking what is being offered for granted. If you were to seek out the type of information that is provided at the cost of a few window-closing clicks in any other form of media it would cost a great deal of money to obtain it all.

I might....might be able to understand why the youngsters of today don't understand the idea of the Internet costing someone, somewhere money to operate, as they grew up with it around. But most people on here have been around in this world long enough to know that nothing is free (TNSTASFL anyone?).

I just don't get where the mentality developed that if you pay for access (read: pay only for "access") to the Internet you are then entitled to being able to view every last bit of it free of charge. And if, god forbid, someone attempts to charge for information....well hell, it's good and right and moral to steal it from them! What they heck was that person thinking?!?

i only get one pop-up everytime i open CoasterBuzz, never anymore. I forget who was talking about what it says on the loading bar, but guess what, Burstnet is spyware. They put tracking cookies on your system and provide the more-than-one pop-up like most of you say. I don't know why you guys can't get it through your skulls and reallize this. I pitty Jeff for having to go through this, when even this makes me angry when people bring this up. On other words with Burstnet. Anytime you visit a site with Burstnet banners on it, you get a tracing cookie on your system (one of the most common sites i can think of is RCPro). Take time and download SpyBot, it will detect all tracing cookies, or you can look through your systems cookie folder and find / delete them.

"I can change, I can change" Please don't damn me to be a nerdy coaster enthusiast with no girlfriends.

-Phil, who like most buzzers, isn't as nerdy as the usual enthusiast.

Ad serving cookies don't mean jack. In fact, blocking or eliminating them will cause you to get more ads, not fewer. Burst, and even my own ad server (which happens to serve the skyscraper campaigns) leaves a cookie to make sure you don't get the same ad over and over, and that you're only exposed to campaigns a fixed number of times.

Don't buy into the paranoia.

That's why the mail-in form allows you to pay via check or...even better in your case...money order.

I'd be far more inclined to support this site financially if it weren't for the unpleasantness of Jeff Putz and his tag team of tame jackasses. At the moment it's clear that the biggest obstacle to Putz's financial well-being is Putz.

About burstnet, the reason why I pointed that out was because it only happens on this site. I see that I must be wrong now, but I must have some weird spyware on my machine that only affects this site... strange.

Thanks Chris... that's an oustanding way to introduce yourself to the community with your first post.

Some people happen to find my "unpleasantness" charming. Those who don't, well, that's your choice. Nobody is making you fork over $20 or asking you to visit this site.
