But they probably still have the schematics for the loop, and it wouldn't be all that difficult to rebuild it. Bringing back the loop would be a great marketing point for the reopening of this "reimagined classic".

If they turned it into an I-beam steel tracked coaster, changing the layout into an out and back would cost them a lot more than keeping the original basic layout, like they are doing with TG. If they went an out and back redesign, I would think that they would keep the wood track.
Both I-beam track with an out and back layout could happen though, and no matter which direction they decided to go, a loop would still be awesome. :-9

I don't think that seven to ten million dollars would build the tallest and fastest wood-steel hybrid coaster "on the planet", could it.
But, on the other hand, I agree. TAER IT DOWN! I've hated SOB practically it's entire life, from a few weeks after it opened, when I had my first ride, to a few weeks before it closed for good, which was when I took my second, and last, ride on it.
SOB might be like Six Flags with me. (Begin analogy) I did Six Flags a long time ago, and they screwed me really bad many times. Even though they are supposedly much better about not screwing people as much as they used to, I still don't like them. (End analogy)

Man, I remember shooting that SOB video. I don't think I've ever hurt so much in my life. I also didn't realize how much footage was actually used.
I still remember Jeff sitting behind you and Sean when you were in 1-3 and telling you guys you were faking the slams at the top of the second hill. He only rode it there twice and I think the second time was a roll thru. LOL
Well, for what it's worth, SFoT is still calling NTG a wood coaster, so KI could still call an Iron Horse SoB with loop "the only looping wood coaster in the world."
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
They could also call SoB "the only looping wood coaster in the word that was burned to the ground". :)
Seriously though, I'd rather see SoB receive an I-beam track conversion than it taken down.
