Why? It's no different than Gemini. I-beam vs. tubular, who cares? It's still steel.

They most definitely say wood. "It's $10M renovation includes the steepest drop and bank of any wooden coaster in the world."
I'll leave you all to argue whether we're being exceptionally picky about the nomenclature, or whatever other argument could be made...we were just discussing the "sensationalist marketing" in Britain at Thorpe (and remember last year at Alton with the hype about Th13teen and signging waivers to ride, LOL). At what point is there a line where the clever marketing becomes promising more than the product delivered - I'd wager it's somewhere *around* 35% beef in your beef taco.... ;)

^Perhaps it's the steepest and highest banking wooden supported steel coaster. They just left out the steel part ;)
As long as it's fun. I don't care what it is. But, if I had to choose I'd say steel too.

You are correct. It's not surprising though. Most steel track with wood support are Mine trains.

The more I consider it, the more I think that the best replacement for SOB's space might be a terrain hugging invert, custom built to make use of the ravines and slopes in that area. They could even build a sort of Beast/Maverick inverted hybrid, with underground tunnels and rock canyons.
This kind of design would be less about including the obligatory vertical loop, heartline rolls and cobra roll, and more about the claustrophobic sense of speed obtained by staying low to the ground, never seeing what's around the next curve.
I couldn't imagine something more thrilling for that area. They could even call it "Son of Bat". ;)

I like Son Of Bat. Then I can just black out the "E" and "S" on my T-Shirt. The shirt's black anyway, so that'll work...

Tunnels? Canyons? I'm sorry but Cedar Fair doesn't do those kinds of things. ;)
Here's a trivia question I don't know the answer to...
How many coasters have been SBNO for over a year and a half and then later re-opened?
^this is an absolute guess...but I will say one-Steel Dragon.
