Probably just an oversight by Intamin. They don't focus much on the "design" of the ride.

I can just feel the otsr digging into my shoulders.

Ouch... let's hope Intamin got the design right on this one. Kanonen at Liseberg who has those OTSR was so rough that the park had to add padding to those restraints!

I never knew Kingda Ka used OTSR, doesnt seem very logical when looking at TTD, I think I must have missed the forum where this might of been a discussion, but can anyone explain?

Seems aweful logical to me when 5 people have died with the other restraints.

If that was the one and only reason, TTD would have been retrofitted.

No, it's not the only reason and the seats on TTD were redesigned a bit from the original S:ROS type trains. But in at least one of the instances (And Im guessing more) the train was allowed to leave with the bar well off the lap (SFNE)

It also accomidates larger riders and speeds loading times.

I'm about 5'11" and 260 lbs, I was able to ride Storm Runner with no problem. The only bab part about the OTSR was with the quick transitions, was that the restraints did dig into your shoulders.

Now as far as the belts on MF, that's a different story.

Villian, I had to loose a couple of inches on my waist before i could fit MF belts. Even then, it was tight getting in.

I was able to ride MF last year, but like you said, it was still a tight fit. I asked Santa for christmas that they would make the belts longer, but guess have to wait till next christmas ;)

Tell me about it. So much for the ADA rules making a public places acessable to EVERYBODY! i'm not huge (5'8", 220 lbs), but i'm big around the thighs & chest), so some coasters can be a tight sqeeze. Even so, coasters need to be built to 99% percent of the public can get on them & enjoy the ride.

As far as OTSR's go, Storm Runner's are probably the best in the business. However, they don't seem to offer a very smooth ride. Storm Runner can get a little bumpy and it doesn't help that the trains feel and sound like big sheetmetal trays.

Well if you wanted to imply smoothness, the space between the stators and the magnets under the train don't leave a lot of wiggle room. They'll have to keep those wheels tight to avoid lateral shimmy.

I noticed in the picture of the layout of Maverick and the logos on the board, in the layouts it shows the ride having a station setup similar to Kingda Ka with two platforms next to each other however the anmation shows a single station. Which will it be?

I noticed that as well.

I thought I had heard that there was going to be a seperate load and unload station. How many trains are they planning on running at the same time?

As a matter of fact, how many trains are there all together?

There will be a single station. There are 6 trains. They run in pairs, similar to Top Thrill Dragster except the load/unload in at the same location. 2 will be loading, 2 will be waiting to run, and 2 will be on the course. The trains will advance as pairs through the station. So once 2 trains have both entered the course, 2 more will advance to the waiting section. Then the trains in the brake run will advance to the load unload section.

That brings me to another question.

Why are the trains so short? It seems that they could have made 1 long train for every 2 short trains.

A shorter train affords you a course with more dramatic transitions that's still comfortable to ride.

While it's not the only reason that say, Drachen Fire felt like Drachen Fire instead of Kumba, it's among them.
