A few good close-up pictures of mavericks trains were posted on cedarpoints web site today.

Is it just me, or do these look painfull?

Maverick's new trains? What happened to its old trains?

Looks the same as Storm Runner's....
Painful. They look the same as every Intamin coaster built for the past 3 years. The restraints actually look a little thicker.
I rode Storm Runner and Kindga Ka with these trains. I have to say they don't offer the smoothest ride. Also on storm Runner I remember bouncing off those thin parts of the over the shoulder buckel. Maverick has alot more turns then Storm Runner.

I like the fun roller coasters with small dips and quick turns.

At least they cut out the size restrictions by using these...I don't have any problem with Storm Runner's or Ka's. It'll speed up loading.

Painful? Those are my favorite OTSR.

For OTSR's they're not so bad. I didn't mind those trains on Storm Runner, but on Kingda Ka they were very painful (quite a bit of vibration).

I don't imagine they'll be too bad on Maverick, though, since that ride involves much lower speeds than Ka.

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."

I've ridden trains with this type of restraint on KK, Storm Runner, RITA and Stealth. I find them all extremely comfortable and well-designed. I really don't see the problem.
I ride kk all the time with these restraints.

I feel very sorry for anybody whos neck comes up to those bars that go over your shoulders.

Anytime on kk when I get jerked to the side those bars slam against my neck like they are trying to lop my head off.

It can be painful sometimes.

There not that bad on SR but on KK they suck. When I ride KK a few times in a row the OTSR leave big black&blue marks on my shoulders and hurt you when your going down the tower. I'm sure they will not be as bad as KK as long as they don't have that painfull Vibration as KK.

These worked wonderfully for me on Storm Runner, which is the best US comparison we have.

KK should be a non-issue I think, the problems are only exacerbated by the trains but I don't think really caused by them.

I hope that the color looks better out in the sun. Otherwise we'll have a pea-green train. =)
I wonder why it has OTSR's. With only 3 inversions, it doesn't seem necessary. I'm willing to be enlightened... :) *** Edited 2/24/2007 3:25:12 PM UTC by ilovethewildone***
^the trains are the ugliest color I have ever seen, they should make them orange.

It may just be because I am a taller person. I have been on storm runner, and it was painful to me. Again, I think it has to do with me being so tall(6'3).

"Necessary" doesn't really come into play when it comes to OTSR's.

There are plenty of coasters with 2, 1, and 0 inversions that still have them and there are plenty of coasters with lots of inversions that don't.

IIRC, a CP rep said that OTSR's are being used because they are more accommodating. A OTSR can be somewhat slack and there is still no way for you to wiggle your way out. Especialy these. With a T-Bar, there is less room for forgiveness and in-turn more people have problems fitting. If you don't like these OTSR's and you can't fit on MF or TTD, then my guess would be that there is probably not many new or recently built Intamin's you'll be ridding or enjoying anytime soon.

They look quite comfortable to me. The new trains look great, by the way...complete with the faux "grill" at the front.

I like seeing CP go for those little details.

The colors are all "rustic" themed...its nice to see some variety for once!

Don't OTSRs allow for lower insurance premiums?
