A look at maverick's new trains.

Which color is this supposed to be? (Gold, Copper, Brass, Iron, Gunmetal or Silver)
I would say that it is probably gold.

I like seeing CP go for those little details.

And unlike other cool "little details" in the past on trains, it can't be just yanked off making it looks somewhat awkward lol. (TTD's spoilers)

I've ridden trains with this type of restraint on KK, Storm Runner, RITA and Stealth. I find them all extremely comfortable and well-designed. I really don't see the problem.

It depends on your build. They seem to suit people with larger upper bodies much better than skinny folk. I find the sides hit my neck if I'm not extra careful.

Are these restraints really that much more accomodating then the other restraint types? I was reading about them a few days ago and read that the test seat for Storm Runner says anyone over 6'3" and/or over 225 pounds will most likely not fit. The person who typed that also said that they saw many people turned away from Storm Runner many of whom didn't look that big. *** Edited 2/24/2007 7:55:10 PM UTC by YoshiFan***

Well, I am, 6'3 and weigh 230 pounds.

I did fit into storm runner, but it was not a pleasent ride.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I weigh 260lbs and didn't come close to having a problem. 6'3" + over 225lbs might be a problem but heavier people of average height I would guess are ok.

I believe that's the gold train.

Gold? Thanks for clarifying that for me.

Wow, I do need to have my eyes checked.

If you look near the back left of the second picture, you can see a sign for the ride.

I think that was the sign they had up at the site, with the layout and specs. Looks like it anyway.
I may or may not get to CP this year but I'd love to ride Maverick. However these OTSR are a huge problem for me. I have ridden SR and KK and ironically KK wasn't a problem but SR was due to the transitions. I'm 6'2 and 125 pounds but the OTSR just seem to dig into the upper part of my collar bone causing brush burns.

Not that sign...look to the left rear of the train.

I sat in the train... it's cozy. It's no different than storm runner, although they might have a slightly shorter wheel base.

I'm almost 6'4" and around 200lbs, and they can be uncomfortable--both on SR and KK. From my experience, these newer breed Intamin coasters (i.e. since Volcano in 1998) don't seem to fit me the best. They don't seem to be built for tall people, and they certainly weren't designed for certain obese people (see SROS and PP accidents).

B&M, oh the other hand, seem to fit me pretty well and comfortably. This is another reason why I appreciate them. I like some of Intamin's rides and how they have come up with some great designs (partially due to Wernel Stengel, of course), but I like that B&M seems to be more accomodating and comfortable.

coastin' since 1985

I am 6'5" and around 265lbs and have no problem with Storm Runner or Kingda Ka at all... Plenty of room and I only have to "brace" myself at the under-engineered S-turn at the end of Storm Runner... Otherwise, those trains rule. Run smooth and all, but I must say im VERY concerned over the heartline roll over the water. It's heartline first of all does not look where it should be (im sure it's just perspective, but even with the pull-through the heartline did not look true), but I have confidence in their design, I just hope that roll is not a mistake in the experience... Only part I am concerned about.

The train is gold not pea green :)

I saw quite a few "plus" people sitting in the train and it appears it is indeed more forgiving than MF or TTD is.

The worst OTSR ever (to me) were on Steel Phantom and FOF before they improved both rides! :)

The SR/Ka restraints LOOKED kinda imposing, but really, they neither obstructed my view OR impaired my ride experience.

Then again, I'm a *relatively standard* 5'11, 185...
