Yeah I havent noticed any room made for a launch shed (is that what is it officially called?). anyway, it is almost a sure bet that this will be a mega looper, I'll go for what is 10 + 2 for 500 Alex?

Well given the record is now at 14, CP better have their eyes set on 15 if they want the record from Guinness.

No, Coaster Fan, that doesn't look like a top hat. What that looks like is a high-speed in-line twist.

Yeah, if you only look at the twisted track, you might think it's part of an inline twist, but you're ignoring the three pieces of "arched" track. Check it out again.

http://www.pointbuzz.com/gallery.aspx?i=4031

The components look very similar to the Dragster's tophat here:

http://www.rcdb.com/ig1896.htm?picture=48

You'll notice how there's a piece of twisted track right before the tophat, and then a few pieces of arched track to form the tophat, and then more twisted track after that.

Coasterfan, the most important differance between the two picutures is top hats use box track, while inline twists (Volvano) use triangular (3 rail) track.

One top hat (TTD) is enough imo!

COASTERFAN, IM SORRY BUT YOU ARE DUMB. IF ANYTHING THAT WOULD BE FOR A TOPHAT YES, MAYBE. NOTICE HOW THE TRACK IS SHAPED ^ WITH THE SUPPORT BEAMS RUNNING ON TOP OF THE CURVE, THUS AN INVERTING TOP HAT SEEN ON MR. FREEZE. VERY DIFFERENT FROM TTD'S OUTISDE TOPHAT (HILL INSTEAD OF AN INVERSION). *** Edited 6/18/2006 4:04:46 PM UTC by mike.s.***

Well call me stupid too. I'm not even convinced this thing is going to invert yet.

Here's some twisted track from a non-inverting Intamin:

http://www.rcdb.com/ig1565.htm?picture=59

Not sure what we've seen that proves it HAS to be an inversion, much less an inverted top hat.

Yeah is Good!

In addition to what's been said, just because there are curved pieces means nothing. Dragster's pullouts are curved, Millennium's crests, valleys and overbanks are all curved, every coaster has arced track, how do you make the leap to say that arced track = top hat? You do realize that there's a heck of a lot more track in the staging area than is pictured in that link, and the bulk of it has some arc to it?

And did you happen to notice the scale differences you're looking at there? The twists on Dragster's towers use 3 pieces of track to twist 90 degrees. The track lying in the staging area twists 90 degrees on one piece of track. Sorry, it's an inline, and this is not going to have a top hat.

Why in the world would they build another coaster with a top hat anyway?

Edit: but again, yes those are twisted, but you're missing the scale of what you're looking at. Goliath's twists, which are basically outside corkscrews anyway, are taken over 2 or 3 track pieces, we're looking at a half-cork in one piece. And the twist on G-Force is for it's drop, and there's only that one twisted piece. There are two pieces just in the one picture from Pointbuzz.

IMPULSE-IVE< YOU ALSO NEED TO CONSIDER THAT THIS IS A SMALLER SCALE OF A COASTER THAT WE ARE LOOKING AT. BUT YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE CURVED PEICES OF TRACK, IT COULD MEAN ANYTHING!

#1 - STOP YELLING
#2 - Where exactly am I not saying this is a small coaster? What the heck are you talking about? And why are you so excited to say what amounts to nothing?
#3 - Why did I allow myself to be dragged into this inane thread ...

Here's what it appears thus far...
Cedar Point ALWAYS seems to want to break some kinda record for the coasters that they debut... I have rarely seen a coaster from Cedar Point that wasn't a record breaker of some sort... it's bragging rights that can be used as a marketing tool, no matter how inane it is.

-- Top Thrill Dragster: Tallest, Fastest coaster, most coasters over 200'
-- Wicked Twister: Tallest impulse, most coasters over 200', only impulse with 2 twists.
-- Millennium Force: Most overbanked turn, Fastest, Tallest, Longest Steel, Most steel track at the park.
-- Mantis: Tallest, Fastest, & Longest stand-up.
-- Gemini: Tallest, Largest dueling.

...the list goes on...

with that kind of "track" record, do you really think that they're going to disappoint with something small? Hardly... will it be uber-huge? Probably not, but I really think it'll go for another record... my bet is a 225' world record breaking for inversions (12)... and they won't be 6 zero G's in a row

First coaster to be named after a Peanuts character?

You get my point, though... I know Iron Dragon & Wildcat & a couple others didn't do diddily... but that's just splitting hairs.

Thom25 is referring to the new 4th dimension coaster, Eejanaika at Fujikyu Highlands, which will invert riders a total of 14 times. That will include seat flips as well as track inversions.

^Guys, come on lets look at the coasters put in during the past say 30 years:

1976-Corkscrew (Record-1st coaster with 3 loops)
1978-Gemini (Record-Tallest and fastest coaster)
1979-Jr. Gemini and Wildcat
1985-Disaster Transport
1987-Iron Dragon
1989-Magnum XL 200 (Record-Tallest, fastest, longest steal coaster)
1991-Mean Streak (Record-Tallest and fastest woodie)
1994-Raptor (Record-Tallest, fastest, longest and most twisted inverted coaster; first with Cobra Roll)
1996-Mantis (Record-Tallest, fastest, longest and most twisted stand up coaster)
1999-Woodstock Express
2000-Millenium Force (Record-Tallest, fastest, longest steel roller coaster)
2002-Wicked Twister (Record-Tallest impulse, most coasters over 200', only impulse with 2 twists)
2004-Top Thrill Dragster (Record-Tallest, fastest roller coaster)

So out of 14 roller coaster CP put in, 9 have been record breakers. You guys are absoulutly right, there is no pattern of breaking records ;). *** Edited 6/18/2006 9:13:04 PM UTC by Touchdown***

While you're at it throw DT in there, too. When it opened as Avalanche Run it was the largest and highest capacity bobsled style ride.

Plus, notice that all the coaster that didn't break records... well... suck. And this is an Intamin we're talking about here, not some little kiddie coaster. It's gotta break some sort of record.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

^Record for best coaster at Cedar Point could easily be broken by TGG or GCI with a coaster less than 100 feet tall and half the cost of whatever they're building now. ;)

Sorry, just had to.

My guess is expect a custom intamin mega looper layout, nothing similar to colossus though. my guess is that it will have 2 loops in a row, a cobraroll, a hill into a snake dive, maybe a zero-g roll, 3 inter-locking corkscrews incloodng a helix going over the water, and three heartline rolls (going in order: left, right, left) and maybe, just maybe they MIGHT have room for another turn into the station... *** Edited 6/18/2006 11:47:08 PM UTC by mike.s.***
