Cedar Point '07 Project

My guess is there are going to be a lot of disappointed people.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

I still have yet to see any box track, which leads me to believe that this will not be launched, since that track more or less requires the box track (show me a Intamin launched that isn't)

Ummm... that don't count... that's... er... that's a suspended. So unless they're going for a Volcano-like coaster with multiple launches & such, that doesn't count.

We don't know which way is up on the track, however... so I COULD be wrong (keyword: could).

Even on Linear Gale, the launch track and station is a box and they transition to the tri-track.

Look at where it begins to be inclined through the station.

Ahhh! It's another Impulse! ;)
I think that the small supports that show connections for both the footer and the track rule out an inverted design. The angle would only work for a ~60 degree bank on a traditional design, whereas it'd be a strange (for such a low height) ~120 degree bank on an invert.

I don't know how they decide the order of the track to arrive at the park, but there's certainly a whole lot more of it to come, some of which very well could be box track. *** Edited 6/21/2006 2:57:05 PM UTC by jasari***

I agree, we can't say that it's not going to be launched just because there are no flat pieces. Maybe they haven't come yet or... maybe it'll launch out of the station into a helix! Also, they have to have flat pieces for either the brake run or the launch pad, or the station. So yea... they WILL be coming soon i'm guessing.
Could they not of changed the track on a launched coaster to make it more reliable?

I still stick with my launched invert Idea.

Dawgbyte: Speaking of multiple launches maybe they will tackle the record for most launches throughout a ride?

The park allready has two inverted coasters why do you think they would add another one?

I really haven't followed this project much. The guessing game got old with the last few coasters. However...

Considering the complaints that have already rolled in (another intamin, it's red, it's not a woodie, etc), that is the closest guess to the truth out of any of the speculators. I'd bet money on that assumption!

Yeah, they already have two wood coasters too. Would be a shame if they built another. ;)

Of course there will be dissapointed people. And there will be people who are excited about it, whatever the ride may be. You can't please everyone all the time, and you can barely please enthusiasts at all.

There are two types of coasters out there, steel and wood and each has their own subtypes (steel-looper, hyper, invert, etc. wood-out and back, cyclone, terrain, etc) Ergo comparing inverts to wooden coasters is comparing apples to oranges.

I'm not so sure. The photo you linked was kind of far away. If you look at a close up of the station track, it's still tri-track.

^thats the picture I was going to show next. Its the launch parts that make it appear to be square in the distant picture.

Check out how close the footers are right over the water. Still want to stick with that?

My first entry into this topic, but just saying if it is a looper going for records, I hope theres alot more variety with inversions then with colossus. Such as instead of the 4 heartlines in a row they could put in a pretzel loop or maybe a snake dive in there as well. I'll leave others to debate what it actually is/will be, just saying if they were going for inversions more variety would be cool.
An inversion like this would be amazing: http://rcdb.com/ig3245.htm?picture=32

It's not inverted and here is proof. The way the track curves is oppisite of how it is banked if it were to be an invert. However, flip the track over to make it stand up straight like a sit down and it curves the same way that it banks.

So what? Why would that one piece have to have anything to do with the launch part?
^That track proves it will have inversions (there is no way I can see that as part of a normal turn) but it does not give any sense of weither or not it will be an invert or launched.
