Cedar Point '07 Project

I'm not sure if CP would go to all of that trouble. You can here Mantis's roar from all the way across the bay.
Parks definitely go to all the trouble...After Kumba, Montu and Shekira both were silenced noticeably
^ BGT also isn't in the middle of Lake Erie.
You obviously haven't been to BGT then have you? Kumba is heard all around the park and yeah we don't have a "bay" but the principal is the same.

I was just at CP and I didn't think Mantis was as loud as Kumba.

BGT is a much quieter park than CP; it's easier to be impressed with loud noises there.
At this rate how long will it be until we see the track and supports going into place?
i don't think it will be long.
I think they want to get a serious jump on the bad months to come, namely dec, jan and feb.

From what we've seen so far, I'm going with the idea that it will to be another Storm Runner type coaster.

The point I was making is that Mantis (and Raptor to an extent) can be heard very very far away. CP hasn't been to worried about the noise up to this point, why would they start now?

Not saying it isn't possible, just saying I'm not exactly sure who they're worried about annoying with the noise.

And yeah, I know the comment wasn't directed to me but I have been to BGT. Which happens to be surrounded by development. Cedar Point is surround by fishies. *** Edited 6/17/2006 12:40:13 PM UTC by matt.***

Looks like Cedar Point is adding a small coaster to its lineup - like some underwood in the forest of giants--- :)

airtime for everyone
That is true Matt.

BGA's coasters are silenced because of the way the park is. Cedar Point is a coaster park so it's almost appropriate to hear the coasters all over the place. At Busch, it's a lot about the animals and the atmosphere, so, just like at IOA, the coasters are kept quiet.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
Does anybody think that this looks like the components of a tophat?

Am I alone in hoping that this thing is a tradtional lift hill coaster?

Dont get me wrong launches are nice, but Ive never been on a launched coaster that I havent thought was too short (and yes I realize the lift time is superficial but I hate having that feeling.) Not to mention the suspect maintence record of Intamin rocket coasters. I think a ride like Colossus in England (and one where CP goes after the record for loops) would fit better.

A traditional lift would be fine with me. With 2 launched coasters, I'm fine with CP not following suit of that park down in Virginia that seems to *only* build launched coasters, you know..give or take. *** Edited 6/17/2006 11:47:46 PM UTC by matt.***

I think you might be on to something, Coaster Fan! :)
Every body seems to think that this ride is going to be the "next big thing". Is it possible that its a family ride? Well, probably not becasue it looks to have some inversions but I don't see this having a lot of height. I thing the sign "we're going in a whole new direction" means that instead of going up, like they have been doing, they are going to be staying close to the ground.

If you are going to speak, make sure it is an improvement on the silence
No, Coaster Fan, that doesn't look like a top hat. What that looks like is a high-speed in-line twist. Check out this pic:

Now compare to 2nd track from the left:

http://www.pointbuzz.com/gallery.aspx?i=4031

Add in Moosh's definite find of a corkscrew piece and how can you deny that this is going to be a traditional lift hill megalooper? I say they customized Intamin's 10-inversion coaster to add one or two more inversions, and made it faster.

More loops because it's Cedar Point and they go for records, even when putting in a "smaller" coaster and faster because if you look at Colossus' inlines:

http://www.rcdb.com/ig1412.htm?picture=19

They're on 2-rail track. Cedar Point's are obviously on tri-rail track ... so that either means they're higher in the air, which I sort of doubt, or they're taken at a faster speed. Either way, there's more forces being sent to the tracks on the CP '07 inlines than there are on Colossus.

Analysis ... complete. :)

Edit: on second thought, check out Moosh's linked pic and then check out the Colossus link I provided ... cobra roll track instead of corkscrew? Then again, if you've ever played RCT, you know that those are pretty much the same thing anyway ... could go either way.

How many Intamin coasters with all that twisty track sitting around in the lot do you know of are "family coasters"??

Let me re-state that... how many Intamin coasters PERIOD... do you know of that are family coasters, especially those on triangular track?

^^^That aquatrax in South Korea would probably qualify. Still don't think that's what we're looking at here, though.
