Cedar Point '07 Project

MR LEGEND

Tony Clark has said that he plans on really screwing with enthusiasts until the announcement is made with the CP Blog. That would be great if the track pieces were a decoy and that they are actually headed to Geauga Lake for the rumored hyper coaster they were suppose to get.

That would be pretty sweet if that were the case. However if these pieces are for somthing thats to come for 07, i just can't imagine why they would go with the color red again for track.

If you think about it with the cancelation of Halloween Haunt, maybe they could be using that extra time to be doing some extensive work if infact they would be recieving a coaster for next year, thats just another crazy thought. *** Edited 5/11/2006 4:11:48 PM UTC by SFDLdan***

Isn't it really silly and pointless to cover the track at this point?

Depends on how fast the paint fades.

I still am not sold on this whole thing not being a ruse, or at least misdirection.

Why would they have brought track from Switzerland to Sandusky, OH, and not taken it that extra mile onto the penninsula. I'm sure they have room, unless this is the first of many shipments and they're going to have the whole coaster there before any of it goes up.

My guess is still two completely different coasters: an Intamin Aquatrax and a B&M Floorless with 12 inversions.

Where would they put it? They can't use the parking lots since they need to park cars. With projects that begin later in the year, after Soak City closes, no problem using that lot, but it's not possible this time of year.

And how can you "guess" a B&M coaster with Intamin track staring you in the face? *** Edited 5/11/2006 5:50:35 PM UTC by Jeff***

Maybe he's assuming that there will be 2 coasters? I dunno. I just don't totally understand what kind of Intamin they'd add and not have it come off too similar to any of the ones they already have. Well, except for an Aquatrax or a standard Intamin looper.

I actually like the Intamin Ball Coaster idea someone posted a few pages back. It would seem to be something CP would do, to turn a prototype into a full size coaster.

I think it makes sense with the Maverick name as well. They would just need to change the train so that there would be more cars hooked together giving it better capacity.

I think these ideas of this actually being for Geauga Lake are highly creative, but we're talking about 2 parks that are what, 90 miles away?

With the price of gas what it is, and the cost of paying the guys who drive the trucks, the guys who operate the cranes, and all of the other guys it would take to unload track, then RELOAD it later, and the ship it another 90 miles to Geauga Lake...

If this is some sort of misdirection, this is one seriously expensive misdirection. And for really, what benefit again? Getting a few hundred coaster enthusiasts riled up online?

Yeah, because the people that run the parks hang on every word we say with glee and excitement. ;)

It could be an African Swallow. It could grip it by the husks.

Sorry, I have Monty Python on the brain and thought it would provide some laughs.

What type of track does a half-pipe coaster from intamin use, is it the same as this or is it another type of track.

Edit never mind looks like they are not the same track as in the pics.

Perhaps the new direction is away from a family water ride and towards an adult coaster. It could also include a new look for Frontiertown, which was in great need of a revamp. I was also looking forward to being a "happy camper", but now I find out I might be disappointed.

You people are so damned spoiled these days. I remember when being an enthusiast meant that you were enthusiastic about anything and everything going on at a park. When I started going to Cedar Point they had 9 coasters. At that time that was unheard of. Now they are building theyre 17th and people are complaining because its not what they want. Jeesh. Go build your own park and put nothing but 500 foot floorless flying 4-D traditional lift hill coasters in it and see how much of a draw you get. People need to remember that Cedar Point is an amusement park, not a catering company. They build what they think the park needs. They do cost analysists, field studies ect ect ect to plan the next attraction.

Everyone should just be happy they are building another coaster, they could go years and years without building another one and probably do just fine. *** Edited 5/11/2006 8:39:10 PM UTC by GothamJ***

GothamJ,

That was a joke and aimed at something someone said and then changed their mind. It's hard to get sarcasm across on the internet. I personally will enjoy anything they build. A few years ago I did want the biggest and baddest, but now I want a well rounded park. I'm actually disappointed that WWL was taken out because that ride grew on me the past few years. Hopefully the new ride will make up for the loss.

So true....but despite me quoting you, i really wasnt directing my comments at you personally. I was just using that statement as a generalization of all the whining going on. No hard feelings man.
