Yeah, I do want to get up there. Some of the shots look great, but you still cannot tell the entire layout and I want to get everything. They said I could come if I did not climb on it or go inside the tunnel. Unless something comes up, I am all over that.

At no-Coaster-Con in chicago on the 15th, Mt Olympus had to back out at the last minute, but they did send information to report. The info that was rtea, stated that the ride would featur a 91* banked turn. It took most people by suprise. I just can't wait, to ride the worlds first overbank turn on a wooden coaster. I wonder if people are going tobe able to feel that the banking is more than 90*.

What was that other coaster that had trains hitting a curve at 60+ MPH? It started with an H? You know...the one that got demolished in 2003? Remember how crappy that coaster was after a few years? Anyone else starting to get worried yet, or is it just me?

Maybe we will get lucky and the boys over at GG will have learned from the mistakes of their predecessors. It looks like the curve probably will be a bit more gradual on this ride and banked a lot more than Hercules (aka: "Hurt me please").

What trains are on order for Hades? I hadn't heard.

I would assume PTC, but Herc's curve wasnt nearly as banked as this one allegedly is.

91*? Is this going to be the only woodie inversion?

I would think that 90* banking means forces on the turn would be straight down for the train instead of lateral meaning the normal problems of the PTC's won't apply on that turn, but we will see. Either way those of us stuck up here in the frozen midwest will get great rides for a year or two. It is the rest of you that cannot make it out for a while that have to worry.

A couple things to keep in mind: Mt Olympus has taken great care of the woodies they have, and they don't get nearly as much use as other parks. They run only one train, and they often sit several minutes inbetween runs, and most of the runs they do make are with half full trains. I don't think they will taer up the track as fast as it would at another park.

RavenTTD - its the only woodie inversion...unless of course you count SOB, which has been at PKI since 2000 ;)

Since the turn will be in the tunnel, are we to expect an overbank (which could rock)?

The inversion on SOB is not wood, and even if it was, I am not sure I would count it.

Uh, the track is wooden lamanents just the same as the rest of SOB.

It's great to see the update. I saw the coaster this summer in person and it was massive, can't wait to see it completed this summer.

RavenTTD - to reiterate what Chuck said, SOB's loop supports are steel but the track itself is wood. Not sure how you can justify not counting it as an inversion on a woodie....

And Moosh, Personally I take SOB's loop as one of the best verticals out there, No matter what many think about the rest of the coaster, It's fun to blast trhough it without OTSR's.

LOL, an actual vertical loop you don't consider a loop, but a turn that has a bank 1º past vertical could be?

When I went on SOB, the loop looked like steel to me. Maybe its not, but I'm not sure I want to ride it a second time to find out.

I am just going to have to trust you guys. I remember what it looks like and I looked at the pics again, but it looked like steel to me in person. Obviously the track was shaped the same way for the wheels, but I thought it was steel. However, I did ride 6.2 so I did not have the best view. Maybe I should give the ride a second chance, but it was the worst stapling I have received, it was so tight that my butt could not move an inch, and all the shaking energy had to go somewhere so my brain was banging around in my skull. That is why I might not consider it even if it were wood, not because it does not go upsidedown. I think I might even remove it from my coaster count. :)
