What holiday should HW add next?

During our latest visit to HW, the MiG crew decided that it was time to add another holiday to the park. We thought Birthday would be a great addition.

So brainstorming time. What holiday would you add and what rides would you put into it?

Hey maybe Paula and the rest of the staff at HW can use our ideas for a future addition ;)

This is tough, because the park has all the main holidays already. St. Patrick's Day or Easter maybe?

I'd like to see Englands and New Zealand's Boxing Day (December 26). You could have a different ride named after each different Rocky movie. ;)

In all seriousness though, I think they've already got enough covered.

April Fools Day

Valentine's Day. Install a Sally Tunnel of Love dark ride, Love Bug (caterpillar ride), Cupid's Arrow (finally an inverted - HW needs one so get over it already).

Id just change Hollidogs to Easter and add a Jr. Woodie called Peter Cottontail, Hopping down the bunny trail..

Personally though I'd just like to see some more attractions in the park side to thin the crowd a bit as the park is getting quite crowded on my last few visits.

How about Passover? Nobody ever suggests Jewish Holidays ;) You could have a Die Die Anu (phonetically spelled (not sure how to spell phonetically though)) as a dark ride like Small World in WDW. And Mozeltov could be a Zamperla Rotoshake. You could really get into that, even include the different plagues, it could really be fun!

i don't think birthday can be considered a holiday... but that's just me.

Easter would definitely be a great idea. Not only could kids and families meet Santa....but they could also meet the Easter Bunny. How cool is that?!

Thanksgiving would also probably play up pretty well as a themed area.

If Memorial Day were to be used I think a nice fountain and some walk through memorials would be a great idea. No rides would be really appropriate in my opinion for a Memorial Day area.

Presidents Day could make for a great learning experience for kids as an area.

Mardi Gras would not be appropriate for the "family atmosphere" of Holiday World, unless it is done more like how SFGAm did it.

As said previously Valentines Day would also be an awesome area.

Labor Day could work... a mine train coaster would work well as a tribute to coal miners. Some vintage cars would be a tribute to auto workers. There is a lot you could do with this.

Easter would be a good family addition, but hard to theme additional rides to IMO. Valentine's day would be interesting, but possibly also hard to theme. Plus a whole landscape of red and pink could possibly drive a man insane. ;) I can't think of many things to associate thanksgiving with besides turkey and the first thanksgiving (indians, settlers, etc.). Maybe I'm just not original enough to think of much more! Personally, of all the holidays mentioned, I think St. Patricks Day would be the easiest to add, easiest to theme rides to, and fit well with the existing Halloween, Christmas and 4th of July.

To throw a whole new twist in the idea, where would a new area be added? Without taking land from existing areas, and assuming that the land the park is currently using is about all they land they have for expansion, the only space I see left is the grassy area between Raven and Legend. Ideas?

And btw, I consider my birthday a holiday! ;)

A Jewish holiday section in Southern Indiana? Free yarmulkes? ;)

St Swivven's Day...weird, there's a word (name) I know for a fact I cannot spell....never seen it in print.

I like Festivus, but again, prob. not "appropriate" for the park, likewise for Mardi Gras...Memorial Day and Labor Day seem more likely, or Thanksgiving (a turkey-shoot themed dark ride mayhaps?)...of course Valentines Day opens up the possibility of a Sally-brand interactive with a bow-and-arrow, LOL....:)

In lieu of that I would vote for International Indigenous People's Day. It is real, look it up on August 9th.

Well, let's see here.....

I'd recommend avoiding religious-tied concepts (yeah, I know, Xmas is, but it's so commercialized, I'm counting it as not so), so that rules out Easter and Hanukah.

Valentine's Day, too pink and mushy, theming may make men ill.

Birthday, too generic.

So I'll recommend either Mardi Gras or St. Patrick's Day; either one could be done very well (but a slight edge to Mardi Gras).

What about Holiday in another sense, how about a "Vacation" land. You could theme it like a bunch of Rt. 66 road stops.
