What holiday should HW add next?

They could/should play Alice Cooper all day!
I had this idea before, for the Christmas section. But, its all depends on what kind of relationship you still have with Gerstlauer.

A Gerstlauer Bobsled coaster, like this http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery1011.htm

If you look at the cars, they look like Santa's sleighs, so, its whould fit in well. Its could include traditional Wild Mouse elements and then ends in a terrain ride with bunny hops and helixes. Cost may be a problem (2-3 millions euros on average)

Another factor is capacity. With 7 or 8 cars, its doesn't do more than 700 pph.

Just through I'd bring my idea in... *** Edited 7/10/2004 1:50:34 AM UTC by Absimilliard***

How 'bout putting in a Knoebel's Grove area with a replica of Phoenix and Twister? ;)

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I personaly think thanksgiving would be a lot easier to theme. Put a few cabins and tee pee's, dig a lake, put a giant huss swinging ship themed as a mayflower, and some sort of coaster themed as the wild turkey (ha). Just my idea!

Nah, it's a *privilege*...;)

I guess it would make for a pretty tight fit with a *full-sized* carousel. Celebration City has a "mini-merry-go-round", LOL, and that took up about a third of the space of a regular one. The capacity wasn't that great, but it was awfully *cute*...:)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Out of all the Holidays listed, Valentine's Day would seem like the easiest to theme to, although I would personally enjoy a Mardi Gras area with free, unlimited beer and some cajun food. ;-)

Do they sell grammar lessons? ;)

Remember....*family* park, folks. No "Mommy and Daddy soda." (That's what my parents called cocktails when I was a kid.)

Holiday World

Going back to the subject, Paula what is the likelihood that we will see a new holiday section at Holiday World in the near future? Also how soon before you guys start letting out teasers on what 2005 will bring us?

:)

Didn't we have a lengthy debate a while back about whether or not alcohol and 'family park' can co-exist?

I happen to agree with Paula, but there were MANY who didn't.

I guess that means no hemp den at HW anytime soon ;)

Swoosh--

Sorry, no teasing until *we* know what's new for 2005. :) We were going in one direction, but may not go there after all.

Never a dull moment! Paula

I think the GCII direction is a great direction Paula, why don't you go with that one ;)

Actually, they already play that song in the park, but I think it is a remix by a more friendly sounding voice/

Hey a "Shirley Temple" is a cocktail too. Nothing anit-"Family Park" about that. I'm one of those who *does* think alcohol and family can co-exist, but hey, it's not *my* park.

As much as I joke about it I could care less about the booze...the "free, unlimited beer" is just my own private fantasy. ;-)

The "mommy and daddy" drinks dehydrate me at a park and I prefer good ole' water and soda. I prefer to leave the boozing back at the motel. :-)

In 1992 (my first season here) we replaced our High Dive Show with a Bungee Jump show and individual jumps.

From the very start, we made it known that we just wanted to do it for a single season and then go back to the High Dive Show. In spite of this, the media made a big deal out of us "announcing" that we were removing the bungee tower at the end of the season (it was a very safe operation--we didn't have any problems).

My favorite headline from all that nonsense was: "Santa Claus Land Rids Self of Bungee Nightmare." (We changed our name to Holiday World in 1984.)

On a separate note, Paula, "Great Old Amusement Parks" show that was filmed in 1999 (the one that interviewed Pat & Bill by the fountain) was just rebroadcast on PBS in Chicago on last night at 8pm...

Actually, that interview was shot the previous July (1998) and premiered on PBS in '99. That was Mr. Koch's last long TV interview. It was hot as blazes that day -- I kept dashing off to get more ice water for everyone. Watching it still brings tears to my eyes.

That footage was also used in a wonderful documentary produced by our local PBS station. It'll be available on VHS and DVD eventually, and sold at the park. I'll post something when it's available.

Thanks, Paula

Am I the only one who's thinking...Tim Burton flick....:)

A few pages back a couple of people were talking about adding an invert to HW.

Personally, I'd be against it. I don't really see such a ride fitting in very well with the atmosphere that currently exists at HW. The park is quaint, quiet, and a couple of other "q" words that I can't think of right now. ( ;) )

Holiday World would lose a bit of it's small park feel if a big, noisy coaster would show up. I know there are ways around loud inverts (Talon's sand-filled spine and the new brakes on Silver Bullet come to mind) but it just wouldn't feel right to me to see an invert (or any B&M, really) at HW.
