PKI
I agree with you on the flat ride issue, but I think PKI needs a couple of good steel, adult, hardcore coasters with good capacity and are reliable before they get another woodie. Even though they won't get one for now, I'd like to see a B&M inverted or floorless coaster at PKI. Besides, Logan, they just got a new wooodie last year.

Kings Island is my favorite park too. IOA and Cedar Point a close second. PKI has excellent woodies and not a single bad or even fair coaster. All good to great. I would like either a hyper inverted(come on PKI, we know how you like firsts)or a floorless hyper. Something hyper...or giga would be fine with me...from B&M. Maybe add a Freefall too. If you think about it though, PKI has superb capacity.

Paramount`s Kings Island already has a free fall. Drop Zone is a free fall, and it is the tallest and fastest gyro drop in the world. I think that Paramount`s Kings Island`s next coaster should be a first of some sort. A giga coaster would be nice, but I like the idea of a hyper inverted or floorless, as long as its a B&M it should be rather smooth and fun! I hope that Paramount`s Kings Island gets 2 good steel coasters in 2002. Hopefully at least one of those is a B&M. I can`t wait to go to PKI in 2001 and can`t wait to find out what they`re building in 2002!

Actua;;y, this may NOT be a popular opinion, but I think that PKI is fine right now in the coaster department, they are MORE than fine in the Kiddie/Family ride department. What they need are some contemporary flat rides, stuff that could be described as "Demented" I think the most recent flat ride in the park today is something that could have been purchased in 1982. Maybe even older than that.
Oh, yeah, and the Live Entertainment department could use some serious help. I mean the popular opinion ws tha with Paramount, the live shows were going to be so much better, but nope the entertainment must be working off of a lower budget than a grade school pagent, really its awful.
And don't even get me started on what attrocities they have committed in the Festhaus.

Im right next to Dave on his opinion. PKI are a supurb park, and the coaster selction is fine for right now. The flat and family rides department really need some major additions. I was overjoyed to see that the log flume is coming back.
When will they fill in some of those holes with a wipeout or frisbee? And when will we see some new in-park transportation?

The last flat ride added at the park was Flight Commander and that ride has since been removed due to a fatal accident. Before that the last flat rides that were installed were The Zephyr (swings), Skylab (enterprise which was replaced by the pay attraction Edge climbing wall), and the Dodgems in 1986. PKI needs flat rides, and a good new steel coaster as well. As far as family/kiddie rides they`re fine. Since 1990 they have added (including 2001`s coaster, three kiddie coasters, and at least three other rides. Hopefully they get a B&M eventually, as they are high capacity rides.
Let me play a little "If I owned PKI", I'm sure I don't have to explain the rules:
Okay, a new theme area is developed by Coney Mall behind the Racer, accesible by Outer Limits. The helicopter ride attraction can be relocated to a new point in the park. The theme of the new area would be a futuristic outer space theme. Possibly Star Trek themed.
Outer Limits gets rethemed in an Aliens from outer space/50's Sci-Fi movie kind of theme. To make it "work" with coney Mall, the entrance way would be like a 1950's Movie Theatre. This ride would then from a 'bridge' attraction, allowing for a smooth transition into the new area.
The new area would need an anchor ride, this would be a futuristic coaster, possibilities could be a 4th Dimension, Thrust Air, or Flying Dutchman.
Other key components:
A NASA-like space training facility consisting of Space Shots, Turbo Drops, and a Starship 2000.
A Sally Interactive Dark ride through outer space, armed with your phasers, blast the ailens as you tour a hostile planet.
Along the futureway (midway) would be all variety of new age flat rides, stuff like Spin Out, Top Spin, Frisbee, Inverter, Project 34, etc. Maybe get real ambitious and do a Flying Suacers ride like Disney had in the 1960's. The futureway would be designed to look like a Futuristic amusement park.
Arm the area with skill games that have high flash and look somewhat futuristic, (or develop 'skins' for existing games), gift shops selling hi tech novelty items.
Also some futuristic food stands, and a "Space Age Buffet" to add to the food service mix. (And a full table service restaurant would be nice).
This new area, would allow Coney Mall to retain a 1950's classic amusemnt park theme. (And give an excuse to install some genuine classic flat rides into this area)

While your ideas sound good, (I doubt they will happen(but you never know!) PKI could use some flat rides and a new theme area behind The Racer and Flight of Fear would be nice. Maybe either old Kings Island with the old KI logo and some of the old rides that were there in the early 70`s. Maybe re-build the Shooting Star from Coney Island
Before PKI gets new themed areas, they need to fix the ones they have. Adventure express is in Oktoberfest for Pete's sake. I still hope they get two coasters for 2002, both hardcore steel creations, one from Arrow, one from B&M. The Arrow would either be a hyper/giga, or a 4th dimension back behind the Racer. The B&M should be an inverted named after the defunct PKI suspended, the Bat
Coasterville Dave, maybe the sci-fi theme section can be like Alton Towers X-Sector theme section. Since Flight of Fear and the helicopter ride make it look like a military base, why not call the theme section "Area 51: Paranormal Thrills". They can put a B&M dive machine in the Area 51 section and call it "The Unknown" or for a movie name how about "Event Horizon", or any type of prototype coaster. Also they can add some of the hardcore flat rides from Huss or one of the other popular companies' rides back there.
I kinda like the name: "Area 51: Paranormal Thrills"

I think, realistically speaking, King's Island NEEDS a world-class steel coaster. If only for the sake of prestige and image. Preferably a multi-element, hyper inverted. For example, PKI has no coaster with a zero-G roll. Then perhaps in the next 5 years, another wooden twister would be great - perhaps "Mama Beast"?
My vision for the park?.......
-Bring back the skyride.
-Bring back the Bayern Curve.
-Bring back the Rotor.
-Bring back WinterFest. BIG mistake getting rid of that! It was so delightful - magical.
-Improve the shows. The last great show I saw was "Fascinating Rhythm" in 1986.
-Build a whole new section behind Coney Mall. I'm not sure about a Space Theme. Maybe an expansion of Coney Mall would be cool. The new steel coaster could go there, as well as the return of the flat rides I mentioned. More flat rides could be added.
-Rivertown needs some slight work. The train needs to be re-routed somehow, because all it really does right now is serve as a transport over to WaterWorks. It needs to be a separate ride all to itself, like it used to be. Put a tram in place to take people to WaterWorks instead.
-Festhaus needs to be removed. Or at least converted to an attraction of some sort - not necessarily a ride. Perhaps a King's Island Hall of Fame - a collection of exhibits from the park's past. Photos and models of old rides, etc...Or it could be broken into an assortment of eateries and shops.
Overall, I think King's Island is a great park. I remember going there when I had my season pass, just to walk around and look at everything. It's cool just to go "people-watch". They just need to do more for making it into a resort, and not just a theme park.

PKi does need good flat rides, but what is clear is that PKI needs a new ride in River Town as its last addition was in 1985 with White Water Canyon. Also, this year River Town looses another ride. The Former Kings mills Log Flume that was located in River Town is now going to be in Nickelodeon Central and themed to the wild Thornberries. (That should make the best flume ride at the park even better!) However since the Action Zone is so close to Nick Central more people might be in it but it still needs some flat rides and a major coaster!
