X Gone at SF Magic Mountain

I believe (this may not be truth) that the seats were being pulled back and stress was occuring. Please correct me if im wrong.

It basically had the same problems the original trains had.. near the back, they are suffering from stress cracks and are experiencing structural damage. Also some of the support joints are seeing these same cracks and damage. The main problem is the size of the train itself. Basically, you have large amounts of weight on the ends of those 20 foot wide trains and the weight is not displaced in a way that would keep the train strucuturally intact after the cycles they go through. Try it.. Take a pencil and add weight to either side.. its basically the same principle.

Man this sucks! I'm planning to head out to LA on June 24th to ride X and now it will most likely be down! Well I guess i get Deja Vu and Xcelerator.............

Six Flags Marine World..... Wild Life AND Wild Rides!

I believe that over time, X will become flawless (not counting minor breakdowns). Once this whole mess is cleared up, I think everything will be ok but its gonna take a while.

The issues regarding the capacity of X needs to be worked out. For these past few months, it has been one train operation with very slow loading. This has caused the 6 hour lines, which is inappropriate for any ride. Heck, Cedar Point could have made VertiGO a free ride and had shorter lines than that!

The good thing about that is that if they can efficiently run two trains that shouldn't be too bad.

Ummm, and you know how, exactly? Oh, wait, you're supposedly creating some sort of megapark competetor to six flags, of course they're telling you. Sorry about the ad hominem, but some of the stuff you say strains credulity.

When did X quit operating? How long has it been down? I'm awfully happy I didn't make my California trip, because I was planning it to be right around this week or next. X would be closed, and that is the main reason I want to go to SoCal.
Please god, say this isn't true!

Yea, but its almost impossible to find unless you search for it intensly.

true. you have to go to the generic website, click on thrills, and there's a link. the magic mt. website makes no mention of the ride, at all!
I guess Cedar Point definantly has more roller coasters than any other theme park, since it looks like X will be down for months.

X has pretty much been off the main parts of the site for about a week now!

Can someone please try to clear a rumor up for me: I heard that on one of the X trains, during operation a seat broke off midway through the ride and dragged the person until the very end. Very far-fetched sounding I know.. but it was mentioned on America Coasters....I am having trouble believing it but now there are actual mentions of a *major* accident, so can someone please try to clear up what has happened? I hope we hear from SFMM VERY soon.

On the upswing, I am very glad I am holding off my Southern California (San Diego and L.A.) trip till next spring break because of several reasons-- X closed being one of them!

Sorry for sounding so demanding. I am not usually like that. I am just interested to know what happened, that is all :-D. Later fellow 'Buzzers!

Man, we're all going nuts wondering what is going on with X. Reminds me of late last year, when we eXpected it to be open, and kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting....

Somehow, how I doubt that when/if SFMM makes an official announcement, they will tell us anything at all. They're pretty marketing heavy, as evidenced by all the Xtremely Xciting uses of the letter "X." I'd Xpect to hear something along the lines of "X will be closed for mechanical reasons," which will allow us to continue to use our Xtrememly active imaginations to think up wonderous Xplanations for X's Xtremely dissappointing operating schedule.

Can't this thing go any faster?

Sounds like to me, they should have named it BAT II.

I know because I have been in contact with Arrow regarding the 4d for quite some time now. One of my clients has been strongly considering it. I'm not asking anyone to believe anything I say. I am simply relaying what I know about whats going on.

It's amazing... regardless of what I say, someone has to refute me. For some strange reason they think that belittling me actually makes them look better. I could say the sky is blue and still be called a liar. I evenwent so far as to give one person my contact's name and number at Arrow and told them to call them and ask about me and after they did successfully, they STILL called me a liar! Like the old saying goes, you can't please all of the people all of the time.. C'est la vie! :)

If you go to the main magic mountain page, no rides are availble from the pull down menu.

I doubt they are taking it out. It is a prototype, prototypes have troubles. If anyone knows that it is SF. It will go SBNO for at least 3 years before they take it out if they do which I still think is doubtful.

Nope they will remove it, and send it to Astroworld, because that's where all the coasters that don't wprk end up. :)

Well, with my trip scheduled for the week after 7/4/02, I am going to assume it will not be operating. But it is a prototype, and they are going to have issues.

Good luck, X.

I can see the discussion now:

"Cedar Point has more coasters because X is SBNO!"

Oh, boy. I can't wait.

Lumpy: BAT II lol ....

Finally a SF coaster that actually Xscaped!
