Worst Rides Ever!!!

My worst coaster is the Preditor at SFDL it's just too rough for me. I allways ride it though because there isn't much more to do there. I didn't like X Flight at GL either. I had brouses on my sholdiers. I haven't been on it since it opened.

p.s. sorry about the spelling

My vote for the worst goes to CLP's Toboggan.
That thing just hurts. I'm 5'9" and pitty anyone taller riding it.
PAIN.
Next would be GL's Serial Thriller, or whatever they call it.
Flats: any Zipper or Rollo-Plane.

Worst ride ever:

Steel Phantom: First and second drops were fun, but after that it was pure hell. Those loops and inversions were murder. I never was so battered by a coaster in my life, nor have I ever prayed so much that the ride would soon end in my life. I think I passed out twice. I can't express my relief when I opened my eyes and saw that we were quickly approaching the station.

Phantom's Revenge is an improvement over the original, but that "bunny hop" near the end isn't one of my favorites. At that speed it needs to be a big hill. Anything small is more of a speed bump than a bunny hop. Air time is great... but ejector air that first snaps your femur when it throws you up against the lap bar and then crushes your spine when you slam back into your seat is not fun.

(dis)Honorable mention:

any Chance Toboggan: Roller Coaster or medieval torture device? You decide.

"Yes... well... VICTORY IS MINE!"
Worst steel: Iron Wolf at SFGA, is it me or has this ride become very rough in the last few years?

Worst wood: Psyclone at SFMM, maybe it was just a bad run but I was not a fan

Ok, I can understand the Magnum thing. I recall some um...different pain...the first time I hit those bunny hops on opening day in 1989. Once I new what to expect I was able to...um...adjust the way I rode?

I did forget about another Arrow Looper. Anyone remember Drachen Fire? I rode that one a few times and the words smooth, fun, exciting really weren't used after exiting...and this was both before and after the one corkscrew element was removed.

Um, like I have corrected you before my name is Dustijn.

The last time I rode BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN, I was in fear for my life, that the train would derail a decapicate me!!!

Georgia Cyclone is pretty rough. Windjammer was one of the most painful coasters I have ever ridden. *** Edited 4/19/2006 3:29:49 PM UTC by coasterkitty***
Don't forget the Riverside Cyclone. The drop one the street side will cut you in half.

Otherwise, it has to be S.O.B. at PKI.

Just curious, but doesn't this thread fall under the rule of not allowing a top ten thread to be posted on coasterbuzz?

Everyone's worst coaster is just as different as everyone's favorite coaster, and people will be just as defiant, and defensive of a coaster that someone has just blasted.

Hercules at Dorney was the first coast I've seen where half the coach was closed due to roughness in the back. I like to see parks being conscious of the roughness of their coasters.

When they continue to allow ride like the Grizzly at PGA to beat the crap out of guests, it sends the opposite message. Chiropractors should be on duty for that coaster.

Last summer Timber Wolf was really painful, a different experience then in previous years.

I'm not a fan of demolition, but some coasters shouldn't be taking on passengers, or if they do, they should rope off the most painful sections of the coach.

*coughbullcrapcough*

excuse my cough. I hate when people state things that aren't true. They coached off the back seats of Hercules because a full train of riders (especially on weekdays) was hard to come by. In order to keep the weight in the front of the train, they roped off the back seats. And that my friend is a fact ;) see sig

Most painful ride: Goudurix (Vekoma multi-looper)

I'll second that. Goudurix was without a doubt the worst steel coaster I have ever been on. The opening sequence was a non stop barrage of the most severe headbanging I had ever encountered. It is hard to describe the ride experience but even at the bottom of the elements where there were no directional changes, the car rocked side to side like the track was warped or something. Riders were tossed left and right in rapid succession like rag dolls.

Well, okay... I may be incorrect in my assumption that it was roped off because it was so ridiculously painful in the back of Hercules. Yet, I doubt when they designed the ride they planned to close half the coach all along. So you are saying the decision to rope off the back of the coach had nothing to do with how rough Hercules was running? I'm not asking for Dorney's official press release answer.
Hurler at PKD is bad, as is Mantis & MS. But SoB takes the cake. That is the only ride to make me stop riding anything for about 2 hours.
^It's not unusual to see the back half of a train roped off, especially at a Cedar Fair park. Hercules had lots of modifications to the original design including the addition of a trim brake on the first drop. I could easily see how they would need to keep the weight in the front of the train.

Probably the worst two steel rides I've experienced were SFGAm's Shockwave and Iron Wolf. I think I last went on Iron Wolf around 2000. I quit riding Shockwave in 1995. Both felt like Car Wreck: The Experience to me.

The single worst wooden ride I've experienced was Mean Streak in 1998. Had a horrible first ride, but still went back to give it a second chance. Pretty sure I got a mild concussion from the second ride... snot was ejected from my nose, I had a headache for four days afterward, and I had multiple bruises on my back. For the only time in my riding history, I felt compelled to exit the train while it was moving. It was that bad. The Rattler is a very close second, followed by Son of Beast. *** Edited 4/19/2006 5:44:42 PM UTC by Olsor***

Hmmm, no votes for the Williams Grove Cyclone? I'm kinda surprised. Are we speaking kindly of the SBNO? Or are there people other than me who actually sort of kind of like the contraption?
Up two ^^Ewww...didja at least clean it up? :)

Yes, Cedar Fair is known for roping off back sections. I have seen it on Cedar Creek Mine Ride and on the Corkscrew at CP.

Then there is the Gemini. They don't rope it off, they just stop running one side!

I put the WG Cyclone at number 24 (of 59) in Mitch's woodie poll. :)

Not even close to the worst wood I've experienced.
