My vote for a really bad ride is New York roller coaster at New York, New York in Las Vegas. Oww... I needed to lie down the rest of the day, after riding its back breaking fury!!! *** Edited 4/18/2006 11:48:31 PM UTC by Pizzaguy***
This coaster rocks when maintained but the washboarding was worse of its 60ft drops than SOB has ever been IMHO. Luckily last year it redeemed itself as one of my favorites. forcefull but not rough.
Chuck, who can't call any coaster WORST until he's ridden it several times over a period of time.

Yep...that one definately has my vote!
In the five years or so I've been riding BD I too can remember a time a couple of years ago when I thought "what the heck happened to the Dipper!" It was so rough, but thankfully in seasons since then I have had no complaints. I love the soft seats on it, it's makes for a relaxing ride to me.
As for Manhattan Express, never have rode it, don't think I ever will...never have heard a good thing about yet...other than the heartline spin/roll. I remember they used it on a couple of episodes of CSI years ago. Then the next time I saw a coaster on the show, they used "Speed"...me thinks maybe it was killing them as well? *** Edited 4/19/2006 12:08:39 AM UTC by Floorless Fan*** *** Edited 4/20/2006 1:22:59 AM UTC by Floorless Fan***
But I love my woodie rough and full of pot holes. :)
Worst rides? Hmm one immediately comes to mind right down "the street" from Geauga at PKI. Son of a bleep!
'Come on cow-boy, you're coming with me down to moo-nicipal court.'
'Good one chief'
'What? What'd I say?'
Anywho, back on topic, I have never ridden a coaster that has made me not want to ride it again. I have been a little beat up on Mantis and Meanstreak though, but that never stopped me from riding them. I really don't have a ride that I hate, but I can tell you that Trailblazer at HP might be the most boring I have ever ridden! :)
You have disturbed the forbidden temple, now-you-will-pay!!!

On many bad rides I have faked screams of pain. SoB is the only ride on which I've ever actually screamed in pain.
Ya Pansies! ;)
I didn't think NYNY was too bad. A little rough around the edges, but given the selection on the strip it holds its own.
Viper always struck me as 'powerful' rather than rough. The ride did indeed kick your ass, but in a good way. If I wanted the "push me around in a La-Z-Boy" ride, I'd hit Nitro.
Still looking for that elusive good ride on Big Dipper and generally agree that SOB is stupid harsh.
I've gotten exceptionally bad woodie rides on Carowinds Hurler and both LC's & Hershey's Wildcat.
Nothing in the steel category even touches the supreme crappiness of Morey's old RC-48...not even Flashback at SFMM!
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Now with just lapbars, it's one of my favorite steelies though. :)
I'm glad to see so much love for Big Dipper. It's a real gem when it's in good condition. Possibly a top 10 out of about 90 woodies for me.

Long live the Big Bad Wolf
If it is open next Saturday, I may give it another chance though. It's a very handsome coaster, and for the life of me I want to like it. It couldn't possibly be as bad as it used to be, right?
You know, I can't really think of any other ride that I dislike. I enjoyed Viper at SFGAdv. For what it is (a low intensity kiddy coaster), Trailblazer at HP is decent. Mantis is awesome imho.
I don't know why I never paid much attention to Big Dipper at GL. I remember it being hellafun the 3 or 4 times I've been to the park. Maybe it was because of the single train operation and the slow moving line when the park was SFWoA.
lol...Is an Anti-Favorite topic against the TOS?
