WOF - Lots of room for a new coaster

After some quick research I found that the Zulu is a frisbee (and one of the best one's I've been on) so we probably aren't getting another one like that but I did find a new extreme frisbee that looks like a lot of fun.

I can't imagine this thing fitting in that little area but it would be cool with some oriental themeing.

Bender's got some operations problems going. He's stuck one of the worst crews in the park on Timberwolf (which has an atrocious dispatch rate) and loves taking trains off of Mamba. Early season ops smell cheap.

They had all 3 Mamba trains running Saturday night until midnight. The TW was still leaving the 2nd train waiting in the brake station for way too long though. That crew has sucked all year.

Swoosh,

Are they considering a giant extreme frisbee or is it going to be the average one. It looks like we got the average topspin (the big one seats 77).

Actually jive, the Zulu is an enterprise. A frisbee is basically a swinging ship with a disk instead of a ship, and that disk spins as it swings.

Can you picture one of these fitting in the old aquarium/diving show area?

A frisbee is nice, but I'd love a coaster sometime soon.

Believe it or not, the GM typically does not involve himself in ride capacity issues at WOF(at least Mr. Keller didn't). He would typically rely on the Operations Director to handle it. Being that the current Operations guy has limited ride knowledge, he has relied on his 2 assistants. One is from old HME days and the other is from CP. There has always been a battle between operations and maintanence (and I'm sure Swoosh can agree) and that has affected capacity. Operations almost always wants to run the rides at the highest capacity. That becomes difficult when maintanence either doesn't have the next unit available or says no to adding a train. They must be present to add a train. As for the bad crews, it just happens. I know when I worked there years back (94 +) the crews had very high morale and sincerely loved being there (at least the rides). We would constantly have turnstile wars and went out of our way to try and make the guests day better. Now it seems they don't want to even talk to you if you are a guest. WOF has been constantly raising their wages and even giving a housing allowance, but the quality of employee has greatly diminished.

It is sorry to see, but from what I have read on CB, they aren't the only park to be seeing this.

The ride ops on the TW are the only one's I have a problem with. The rest of the ride ops have been rather pleasant this year along with most of the food people. I think adding a world class coaster would help to attract better help (even though I'm not complaining about the current help).

I would give the WOF employees a B- for the year so far. The only employees I've been more impressed with this year have been CP (of course) and SDC.

Matt, I couldn't agree with you more on your statements and echo every word you said.

Jive, Like it has already been said Zulu is an enterprise. As for the size of the "supposed ride," I have no way of knowing that at this time, because like I said it has not been confirmed yet....

RCThemepark36, not for awhile....

The only thing I can see fitting for this area is a free fall ride. I have ridden a Frisbee and I know there's no way of ftting one in there unless they have done some land movement. We are like the only CF park that does not have a free fall ride. We do have a pair of Space Shots but that is it for those types of rides.

Jeff, Did you forget to feed the Raptor again? That Raptor is not in a good mood. See http://www.orlandosentinal.com/business/tourism/orl-asecbirds19071902jul19.story?coll=orl%2Dbusiness%2Dheadlines%2Dtourism and you know what I mean.

Sawblade, I very seriously doubt that they'd put in a freefall ride with a pre-existing double shot. Seems highly unlikely, but I think that would be a great addtion.

Would a roto drop seem more likely?

Chris,

They are not putting in a drop ride. They have Detonator and even though a drop tower would be a different experience, try explaining that to the GP.

Actually got wind today on a new development. It might not be "that attraction that was stated earlier" afterall, but something a little more wild.

Are we going to get more clues? Do you enjoy toying with my tiny mind?;)

You're going to have fun with this until Oct., aren't you? Is it going to be in the same place? Could a roto drop be explained to the GM?

You're killing me.

Ok I will tell you what is confirmed. First of all there will be "something" where the aquatic arena used to be. The Laser Light Spectacular is in its final season, there has been rumors that it will sit dormant for a year or so and then will be removed for another project which looks to occur in 2005 (this will be the "big" one). 2004 will be OOF's turn, more on that later. As for 2003, I'm not giving any more clues until things get "locked in" and we have a definite. OK? I'm sorry if you think I am toying with you, I just don't like to get people's hopes up and then let them down. It hurts my credibility. I will say though, they were looking very seriously at what I said earlier, whether that happens is still up in the air.

I'm just mess'n with ya and appreciate all of the info you've given us and I understand that nothing is set in stone yet. Don't worry about my hopes, whatever we get will be fine with me. You should worry about me bugging you all the time though, it's a boredom thing.;)

That's good that they're getting rid of the laser light show, it takes up a lot of space.

When will they make next years decision final?

Well it could be as late as September. A little known fact that Thunderhawk was supposed to have been added in 2001 along with Camp Snoopy, but at the last minute it was held back a year because the budget got cut. You see unlike rollercoasters which have to be finalized early in the year (if not the year before), flat rides can be bought late season and still be ready for the April opening.

WOF confirmed that this was the last season for Summer Spectacular on the TPO site's message board awhile back, and I agree, it would free up a lot of room.

Now just wishful thinking (and not a bit of truth), but wouldn't an inverted look good there where the Forum is now?!?!? :)

An inverted behind Beat Street would help liven up that area.

Swoosh, what do you mean by "in 2004 it'll be OOF's turn.?"
