Will Hercules not being there still bring you back to Dorney?

Now you do? Not then?

Why don't you just buy a T-shirt that says, "LOOOOOOOPIEESS!!"

Why don't you buy yourself a t-shirt that says, "I have poor reading comprehension skills"? Honestly.

Just because the only two decent coasters at Dorney happen to contain loops doesn't make that a personal preference of mine. On the contrary, I think many looping coasters are absolute crap. But I do enjoy intense, forceful thrill rides, and Talon and Laser are the only two coasters at Dorney that offer those thrills. My #1 steel coaster contains no inversions, but my least favorite does. I also hated the only wooden coaster I've ridden. I also despise being held upside-down.

But hey, believe what you want. Personally, I think that Arrow Mad Mouse has knocked one too many things loose.

As for your other question, of course I didn't forget SFGAdv was a corporate park. It's the essence of corporate park, but it's also well done. "Corporate" does not necessitate ugliness, poor operations, poor maintenance, and too much TPM. Several of the parks I enjoy most are corporate. It's just that Dorney is bad coroporate.

Gather round, little children. It is a most sacred day. It is time to dress in your saffron robes and crawl barefoot to the top of the mountain to hear the wise and mighty sage CoasterDude318 speak.

He is 'industry-minded' and knows far more about rollercoasters than any of us can possibly imagine. Let's read some of his deep thoughts together...

Do you think (Gemini or CCMR) are as popular as, say, Millennium Force? What about Raptor? Of course not. I've personally never seen a line for (them)...I said old rides are (generally) less popular. There's really no arguing that.

He sees no line. He says so. And therefore it certainly must be.

What a remarkably well-informed person!

This forum was supposed to be about why Hercules wouldn't bring you back to Dorney. Now people are talking about trees and S*(t and not about Hercules, so stay on topic.

Even better, why don't you let the moderators moderate? This is the Web. Just because you started a topic doesn't mean you own it.

In fact, the natural course of this discussion was the good and bad about the park in general.

Ok, let's get back to the original point. Will the lack of Hurt-me-please keep me away from Dorney? Heck no!

While it MAY be a bad precedent to remove a wooden coaster, Hercules will NOT be missed by many people, me included.

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."

Which I think is the point of Dorney's decision. I can understand why some people will mourn the loss of the coaster, but I can't understand those that don't see the logic in this. Not many will dispute the fact that a shiny-new B&M floorless will satisfy MANY more people than a painful Dinn/Summers disaster.

While it would have been nice if Dorney has decided to modify the ride as Kennywood turned the Pippin into the T-Bolt, I am sure that the park's marketing dept. will have a much easier time with this than a rebuilt Hercules.

Hercules Revenge: Now with 60% less suckage!
And to think... that would be a HUGE improvement!
Exactly....I think they said it had one of the lowest riderships of any ride in the park, and cost more than twice the $$ of any other ride in the park to maintain.....seems like a logical decision to me!

Unfortunately all this drama over Herc is only going to get worse! Think of how often someone asks about Drachen Fire. I can only see Jerk-Me-Please becoming more of a myth over time.

Many rides are hit or myth.

I just wish everyone would shutup about it already we beat the monkey to death (I did anyways) 4 months ago. This question in the first place seemed kinda silly to me cause we all know the true answer. "will hercules not being there still bring you back?" Standing proud as one of the few hardcore hercules fans, even I knew the answer to this one. of course everyone will still go to dp. kinda silly but whatever, beat the dead horse more, maybe you'll get some good beef jerky outta it.

As far as I know Drachen Fire only had one thing going for it. It was pretty! And I'm sure it was pretty much the same with Hercules. ;)

I like to say that Dorney Sucks just to get Gonch all riled up. Then I remind him that they just raised the cigarette tax again and stand back to watch his head explode.

Does Dorney have personality? Honestly, no. I was never there when it was an indie, but it seemed sort-of bland to me in overall atmosphere today.

Did I still have fun? Hell yes! They have a great lineup of old and new rides; their waterpark is free, and one of the best around. (That counts a whole lot when your wife's a waterslide fan. That she happens to look hot in a bikini is another plus.)

Hershey, Kennywood, IOA... these parks to me have a certain "feel" to them. I didn't "feel" anything at Dorney.

It reminds me more of Lakemont's big brother than CP's little sister.

If you can't have fun there, though, that seems to be more your fault than the park's. For crap's sake, it's an amusement park.

Sidenote: I actually like the cement better than the obligatory blacktop. It looks a whole lot cleaner to me. In fact, I may say that Dorney was the tidiest park I've visited.

Is that how you get Gonch all riled up? And to think all this time I was going about it the wrong way ;)

I'm the resident Dorney fanboy :)

I've been thinking of checking cigarette prices in WV. It's just a short drive - my wife has people working at the hotel that have WV adresses. How far can it be?

And yes, I realize the absurdity of driving 20 miles for cheaper cigarettes, but I also drive into the bad sections of town for my crack ;)

My crack habit probably also explains my opinions on Dorney...

...see I tied it all in!

I always tought it was Allentown's water. Then again that may have crack in it too.
Gonch.

If cigarette prices are an issue for you, why don't you purchase them online?

Plenty of people where I work do this, and they save a bundle.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

I've thought about that too. But the ugly truth is that the price is not the issue, the repeated tax raping is.

Wasn't this latest jump a PA thing? Along with a bunch of other fees, taxes and rate increases for the year (Like the turnpike toll jump coming later this year, or that extra cellular call tax/fee for calls to and from the state)

Where did I just read all of this at? Or did I dream it?

At any rate, cheap cigs online may be something to look into. I've known about it, but never really looked into it.

I'd bet if Dorney sold cigarettes, they'd sell them cheaper than SFGAdv (assuming they too sold cigarettes) :)
