What's going on with Kingda Ka??

nono.. now don't spread things around that we dont actualy hear! So now media day has not been set.. lets get that straight

I am not saying it is that day only that it may be that day. And you being so lucky will be one of the first to be able to say what day it is. I was just pointing out that May 13 is not a season pass holder day (yet). Not to say that that couldn't change also. This thing is so secretive it's worse than the CIA or NSA.

BTW me being a working fool. My first ride on KK will be a weekend day (prepares for a long line) and fall when I am not on call for work. Which with it being vacation times for a lot of families and me being single and such means I get to be the one who says "I'll cover your on call time." So much so that I lost Coasterbuzz Con or SFGAdv's Coaster Celebration to working that day. *** Edited 5/9/2005 6:54:38 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

yea i typed that while listening to the confrence call...
Yes, agreed LuvRaptor - CP has hit its Intamin quota. Let's get a B&M! I'm still upset I had to forfeit a freeway for Dragster because it went down the last hour the park was open. It always seems to be the brakes on the launch track that cause CP their problems. Has this been fixed for KK because if TTD is struggling in its 3rd year, then the outlook is not pretty for another Intamin of this caliber.
God I hope B&M builds something new and revolutionary someday so everyone can see new technology takes time to perfect. B&M has been building the same basic coasters since Batman: The Ride how many years ago?. Of course their rides are going to be low-maintenance and very reliable.

Besides, KK's delay probably has nothing to do with Intamin. It's more likely the delay has to do with the horrible state of New Jersey. Does anything run smoothly in that state?

Storm Runner probably has better reliability than many B&M coasters...That's an Intamin ;) *** Edited 5/10/2005 2:22:18 AM UTC by S2K***

B&M Doesn't build coasters that are new and revolutionary...they said that themselves in the interview last week. Pretty smart if you ask me. Look who builds the reliable rides!

Physics Days next Week? Ugh, I gotta put up with tons of kids :(

Well on Mother's Day I was there for prom weekend and let me just say it's freakin' huge you can see it all the way on 195 I started flipping out while I was driving I was in awe then as soon as you pull onto park property it's just right there, it's soo pretty.
Well The Golden Kingdom totally blew me away your face to face with the tigers that are like 3 feet away. The whole area is gorgeous, actually the whole park looks amazing alot better then any previous years. The reports are true about security there is alot more out and alot more sweepers out too. Well my take on the delay that I heard is that whenever the state comes out to give them the permit they have to do a certain number of circuits but, the problem is that it can't do the certain number of circuits without breaking down. Well I suggest everybody goto the "feels like new" Great Adventure and hopefully you'll be able to try out this new mama.

Above and Beyond.

I was at Hershey on Sunday and it went down 3 times while I was online. For some reason, the right side was not launching when the train was loaded. It would pull out of the station and just sit there. I understand the whole innovation sentiment though.

I've never seen an intamin (even the hypers) run as consistently as a B&M. I've never seen any of the B&M's at GAdv. down for the whole day. In fact, I've only seen Nitro down 1 day out of about 40 visits. On the other hand, I've seen rockets, impulses and even the hypers down for quite a bit.

Well here's a reminder as to why NJ is slow to approve amusement attractions ....

From today's rollback

5/11/1984 - Eight teenagers burned to death in the Haunted Castle attraction at Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, New Jersey. When he entered a room in which the light had burned out, a boy lit a cigarette lighter and accidentally ignited the highly-flammable structure, which burned quickly.

Fox-29 in Philadelphia reported that testing was going on as of May 10, in an interview with a representative of Six Flags.

How can a coaster have more than 100% uptime?

Well that *did* happen 20 years ago under completely different ownership.

That's a real accurate statement since I could probably name 10 B&Ms that aren't even close to having 100% uptime. Raptor (intermittently though), Incredible Hulk, Apollo's Chariot, and Medusa are just a few.

I went to Hershey Park a total of 28 times last year. Not once was Storm Runner down the entire day or did it experience more than 2 or 3 moments of minor downtime.

None of use know how Kingda Ka is going to run but I'm sure the system is much refined from Top Thrill Dragster's. That's not why it isn't open anyway. SEE: The state of New Jersey *** Edited 5/11/2005 11:11:08 PM UTC by S2K***

I can honestly say that without Intamin coasters I would never visit any theme park. B&M makes coasters for kids in my opinion. They basically build 4 seated rides which makes the coasters slower and gives you airtime. Thank God for Intamin cause I love me some speed and a good rush. Every park needs a Millennium Force!!!
Wow... once again "youngstud" stuns me. You call coasters over 200 feet tall (which B&M has a few of) and tons of inversions (which they are very good at) coasters made for kids? Secondly, four seat rows on trains has NO effect on making a coaster slower, the design effects the speed entirely. Directly following that you state that the four seat rows "gives you airtime," which contradicts the earlier part of that sentence.

While Intamin rides do have more intense airtime and designs, they also suffer more problems due to their pushing the limits. Many adults prefer the well-designed floater hills of the B&M's to the slam-into-the-lapbar hills of Intamins (If I had ever ridden an Intamin I would probably like Intamin more though). To say that B&M, perhaps the most skillful of all coaster designers since Schwarzkopff (spelling?), makes nothing but kiddie coasters is insulting and ignorant. *** Edited 5/11/2005 11:43:11 PM UTC by RollrCoastrCrazy***

I can honestly say that I have never gotten a thrill from riding a B&M coaster. Their technology isn't advanced enough to build any type of launch coaster. Their most thrilling ride is Nitro and that is basically just a fun sleeper ride after the first drop. I'll consider B&M to be a good coaster making company once they actually build something worth getting excited about!!!
