What's going on with Kingda Ka??

It's been almost 2 weeks since they postponed media day, anyone have a clue about the new date??

"The legacy of the 'LOCOFACE' will live on long after I'm gone"

Their new journal entry on sixflags.com says it is supposed to launch by mid-may.

What can you expect?

It seems like SFGRADV didn't learn from CP's mistake....(cough TTD cough cough).

I have a trip planned to visit GAdv for Memorial Day weekend (I live in So Cal...already have the flight etc.). What are the chances of KK being up and running by then?
It is going to open Memorial Day weekend. I wouldn't want to be there that weekend...it will be a madhouse.

Knoebels- 4/28

It will probably have a lot of downtime also, being newly opened.

Knoebels- 4/28

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the issues with TTD (and most launchers) usually deals with some sort of weight distribution thing...and, from what I thought I heard, it has to deal with the operators and how well-trained they are...which, if this sketchy info is at all correct, would mean we can expect KK to have the same kind of "on again, off again" dealio.

Or I am living in my own imagination, which wouldn't be out of the question...

If life is a rollercoaster, than can't we conclude that rollercoasters are life?
Rhino, he is just mad that it isn't at SFA, since they're so neglected...

;)

Who said SFA was getting a launched coaster next year?;)
May 12th (this Thursday) is what I have heard on several websites but none of them are official announcements. No official announcement has been made yet. I'm going Friday the 13th so hopefully May 12th is accurate.
I quote...

"The new section at our great aventure park in New Jersey is particularly impressive. A dramatic new jungle themed, 11 acre entertainment section, anchored by the worlds tallest, fastest, roller coaster and including a new sadium for unique tiger shows, an expansive new childrens area, as well as heviley themed shops and food outlets. I believe it represents the best work our company has ever executed, and is on par with the qualitiy of the destination park. This incredible new section and world record coaster are scheduled to open to the public next week on may 12th"

Somehow I doubt you found that from any reliable source seeing that there are about 15 mispelled words and numerous punctuation mistakes within it. I guess what we can take from it is that May 12th is a pretty popular date.
Um, I would assume that he listened to the conference call and just typed it up.

So, thanks, as I haven't had the opportunity to listen to it myself.

Seems that the New York Post picked up these rumblings as wel and in their Sunday edition, decided to sort of infer that as the time frame. Me thinks the NY Post jumped the gun and reported this. If you look at the News Section, you will get an idea of what it is really like for the folks at Great Adventure. A lot of stupidity going on. Anyway, take this with a heavy grain of salt right now but this link is making the opening this week.

In someway I think the Post is confusing Daily Ops with opening of Kingda.

2 days before CP was to open in '03 TTD was still testing with the water dummies. The whole testing procedure was way behind schedule.

Media Day '03 was horrible. 1st there was thunder and lightning, then CONSTANT break downs, resets and roll backs. I am fairly sure all the news reports that day made mention of the glitches. I know the ones in Columbus did. I know anyone who waited in line 3-4 hours to ride that day will know exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm thinking SFGrtAdv is being smart.
Don't misunderstand, not being smart buying KK after TTD turned out to be such a mechanical headache and some what of a disappointment to some of the guests.
Being smart making sure everything is perfect and in place before the public gets to see.

JMHO

btw- I was at CP yesterday and TTD was down for most of the day...it would come up then go down again. 2 years later and it still isn't reliable :(
NO more Intamin-we want B&M! :)

Ok as has been said before ....

SF probably ordered KK before TTD was finished so they had to go through with it or be sued.

Also...

GrAdv is being very quiet about the date it will open. All the rumors are flying but the people my niece talked to on Saturday at the park would not confirm this coming weekend as an opening date at all.

The park calendar on-line says Thurs. and Fri are closed for private events. Media day and season pass holders preview?
