What's going on with Kingda Ka??

ROFL, Phoenix sux, from now on I'm riding Mean Streak! :)
I also caught gem about their un-advanced technology.....

This thread has officially gone insane.

www.xtremecoasters.com is reporting that Six Flags and Kingda Ka have passed inspection from the state and the commercial shoot is to take place on Tuesday, May 17th. VIP and Media day are not yet scheduled but should occur sometime shortly after May 17th.

it is now confirmed that a few top executives and staff at Six Flags Great Adventure have now been able to ride Kingda Ka, and are giving it two thumbs up!

I haven't been able to confirm any of this information but I'm sure Six Flags will be coming out with some sort of news headline soon, if this information is in fact valid. *** Edited 5/12/2005 9:32:56 PM UTC by S2K***

I was at the park today and they did send out 4 or 5 trains full of people. I heard Kristin, the public relations lady, talking to a group telling them that they were filming the commercial. There were also several news cameras. CNN came out to where the fence was blocking the entrance and interviewed several people.

I don't know what to believe though. They said the commercial was today... and there was media everywhere; and yet, they still said they have no opening date set.

I just called the park about an hour ago and the lady said that they had not yet received confirmation of when KK would open.

Yes, there was a commercial shoot today. No, it's not scheduled to open this weekend.

I'm sure you can wait one more week...

Son of Beast sucks actually dude just like all other wooden coasters. I don't understand why they are built in the first place. They all make you feel like you are riding a horse and they all sound like they are falling apart. I mean really, what fun is it to get shaken to death.

No, I can't. That is, unless you want to pay for a return trip when it does open. I'll even get ya started ;)

I retract my previous statement. That was by FAR the single most stupid, ignorant post in the history of coaster related websites.

Either that or he's a troll...

NO I was at the park today and this is what I saw\

Let me say that they was only one film crew there... when I asked then what they were filming they answer was "Ummm... for the park."
I have not gotten a call from Kristin or anyone since I talk to Kristin while she was back with the film crew... So we should here news soon!

I want to say that we talked to a second shift Security guard and he was told when he came on shift that they were told to say that the ride will open “On or around the 18th”
About ½ hours before that… the S:UF ride op said it would be open for Coaster Celebration.
So looks good!

I stopped at the park today to validate my season pass. While I was there, I checked out the new Golden Kingdom area. It looks a lot smaller than it was hyped up to be. I watched a handful of KK cars go through the circuit. It seems like they have the launch speed tweaked accurately. Next week seems believable enough to me for an opening date.

I don't know if was hyped up to be anything large in size, but rather well themed and immersive. (which it is) It's certainly not a huge area, but something tells me it has not reached it's full size just yet. ;)

Since when did security guards and ride ops become reliable sources?

Sorry slick, but your wrong.

... And it's Kristen, not Kristin.

Ugh. I hope this thing is up by next Friday. I don't want to have to backtrack for a second stop at SFGAdv the Sunday after CBCon.

Actually, the commercial shoot on Kingda Ka is scheduled for the 17th. I believe the rest of the Golden Kingdom was already filmed though.

...Actually it IS spelled Kristin :)

I'm just saying what I heard from Kristin/Kristen herself. I saw at least 4 full-o-people trains run. A crowd gathered around the fence blocking the path to the coaster and she came out and told everyone that they were filming a commercial and that they still had no date set for the opening.

I'm not saying there won't be a commercial shoot on the 17th, but I am confident that there WAS one yesterday.

How can anyone argue that statement?

How can anyone agree with thet statement? :)

I agree with him, I don't know what you are talking about. You must be riding the little kiddy wodden roller coasters amd not the big death traps. You should try a real one then tell us what you think. Thanks pops...
