EDIT: Sorry... missed the sign. "No Feeding the Trolls" *** Edited 5/15/2005 5:04:35 AM UTC by RollrCoastrCrazy***
I've posted a couple times, and you may have heard of me on the internet.
My home park is Six Flags Great Adventure, and as an enthusiast I'm really knowledgable when it comes to the park as I really have an "in" with some of the people there.
I thought I'd update you on Kingda Ka:
Next week, there are two days scheduled for Commercial Shoot and what not. The park is still waiting for an official occupany permit that will let the GP ride Kingda Ka. Right now, only employees and higher ups are riding Kingda Ka, and may be that way for a while.
A Media Day that is tentativly being looked at is May 19th, if all goes well and planned. Coaster Celebration is really bankingo n KK being open, so who knows.
In My prediction: Look for a next weekend official opening to the General Public.

Anyway, I'll try to clear up some points.
1. No media day is scheduled yet.
2. No opening day is scheduled yet.
3. There are NO technical problems with KINGDA KA, at all! It runs like a dream, and has no TTD issues whatsoever.
4. There is some airtime/weightlessness on the camelback (Kristin -- spelled with an "I" -- rode in the back of the train, and her bar was VERY tight).
5. The brakes on the camelback do not significantly slow the train down til it's halfway down the hill, so the peak is running at top speed.
6. The brakes on the top hat do not significantly slow down the train at all.
7. There was no commercial shot on Thursday, May 12, 2005.
8. I have not read one single true statement about this ride, and when it will open, ANYWHERE on the web as of the time of this posting.

Your other points were believable, but this isn't. EVERY ride has it's tech. problems, and KK is no excaption. Pretty much all of TTD's problems cropped up after it started public operation, and sadly, KK will probably not be terribly different.

We don't really know that. Unless you work for Intamin, which I highly doubt you do, you can't predict how Kingda Ka is going to operate compared to how Dragster operated during it's opening season. Besides, I think Storm Runner is a perfect example, although a much smaller system, of how Intamin has slowly but surely perfected these rides: I've been to Hershey already 3 times this year and I have seen Storm Runner down for a total of about 10 minutes.
I hope I'm wrong and KK is 100% problem free and never breaks down, but we all know that's not going to happen
but I guess not
and yes there was a camera crew there I saw them with my own eyes... they were filiming b-roll footage.. I would think
WOW you guys like to make up stuff don't you?

Sure, I'll explain #4.....the people who rode it in front said there was some airtime.
As for #8, it will open when the park announces it will.
I took no offense to your posting....was simply trying to clear up some misconceptions about KK and you are the one who seemed doubtful. All copacetic here.
