You know, I said that this could be the boomerang of this decade and I'd be OK with that. Perhaps that's what's happening.

Can you imagine the quantity discount Cedar Fair scored? Two impulses, Millennium Force, Xcelerator and the CP's giant rocket coaster.

How do you know that it is a giant rocket coaster? I agree with Intamin Impulse is the "boomerang" of this time. The coasters offer a unique experience and relatively cheap for the parks.

I hope Dorney is included in that discount deal ;)

WickedTwised: You haven't been following the saga of CP's new coaster? It's an Intamin Giant Rocket (track is at CP), we're just not sure of stats and a name until announcement time.

Intamin is becoming the Vekoma for the 21st century. Only they are going, bigger, faster, and most importantly, without the headbanging.

Could this announcement mean we'll hear something from CP in the near future?

Meh. /heresy/ I like the boomerangs better. /heresy/

So it isn't going to be double twisting because the Six FLags ones aren't?

Hopefully we'll see another Intamin Impulse on the east coast (SFA to be specific).

How do you know that it is a giant rocket coaster?

FDLMAO....oh that's just too funny! I can't believe this was really asked to Jeff. "I mean really...a shoe...who throws a shoe?" Just adding to the list of ridiculous questions I see from time to time.

It is neat that they are building the dubed "six flags" version of the Intamin Impulse. It is a proven model and has worked for Six Flags!

How does it only go 68 mph? It also doesn't launch on the backwards run like Wicked Twister. Will it have a holding brake?

Alright, can't say we didn't have enough evidence of this coming....three points: first, CF couldn't re-use a name from ANOTHER coaster....I mean, SF has been "recycling" for years, saves on all that costly brainstorming....second, guess whatever problems CP had with WT have been ironed out to CF satisfaction (or was VF "signed and sealed" before the problems with WT)...third, is it just me, or would it be better if the twisted spike (assuming only one twisted) were in the back....based on WT, S:UE,V2....I'd prefer to twist backwards (probably just an enthusiast preference, I can see where the GP prefers the "softer" version, LOL).... *** This post was edited by rollergator on 9/3/2002. ***

You know, if some of you would actually read the press release your questions would be answered. Yes, it will have a holding brake. No, it won't be double-twisting.

Do the work, folks.

Yes, just what I have been waiting for. How did they come up with the name Steel Venom? Are's will be identical to V2 Vertical Velocity only difference taller by 15feet.

I do soooo hope SFH will get an impulse next year, but since they allready added Goliath last year i highly doubt it. Off topic: does anyone know what Goliath cost by the way?

How does a ride with like 20 pieces of track and barely *any* supports cost $8.5M?! Are LIMs that expensive or what's the deal?

Joe, [enthusiast mode] who probably won't go out of his way to get back to VF!(?) next year...now if they had built a B&M inverted... ;) [/enthusiast mode]

It tastes like burning.

You know whats ODD about the two press releases by Cedar Fair, one claims (Valleyfair release) that steel venom is going to have a 360 twisting spike, while the Cedar fair announcement says 450 twistiing spike.

I'm assume its the 360 due to the references to Six Flag impulses but its kind of wierd that the releases would make a mistake like that.

I can't get over the promo picture of Steel Venom on the VF home page. It looks like it gonna run into a support. Someone didn't quite hack the WT photo good enough.
