I should have known, Mark ;)

o-oh this thing was topped off on a Friday, 13th

I know this just be my mind playing with me but I noticed on the CP home page where the panarama pic of cp is; the picture is now longer, and the force is now closer to where is says cedar point. Mabye an annoucement soon, even though we already know what is comming, I think it would make my Christmas.

WoodenCyclone: You do actually make a lot of sense. And that's what it would appear to be like to the GP. You said:

All the sudden Steel Dragon, beat MF's record by 2ft or something close to that.

And it appeared that SD2K was purposely made to beat the height record. Your only problem is, you don't know the true facts. Both rides were planned way in advance and SD2K beating the height record only a short while after MF was built is complete coincidence.

No really? , you can just contact Morgan, and have them whip you up a giga coaster over night can you? , I know the facts , but im sure in the amusment park industry word gets around as to who is building what. understand?. If you can alwmost say its like your neighbor is going to get steeping stones put infront of your house, and the old lady across the street told you, so you had the idea first, but now your going to get the better stones. (That is if you want to put it in lanex terms), and for ur information I happen to know alot about rollercoasters, and amusmentparks, and it is not just little bits I have picked up off coaster websites, Amusment parks have been apart of my life for well over 10yrs easy, or if maybe even all my life.

Is it just me, or the camera, or does anyone notice a slight bend in the track on the way up the tower? Almost like a bunny hop. What it makes me think of is the little hop in the track they were supposed to put on PR at Kennywood on the way up the second hill, but never did...but I am thinking it is just my eyes...can anyone clarify?

That means nothing. Maybe you should have spent some of those years learning to spell! Try to type like a grown-up, huh?

The fact is many of us have been riding for well over 20 years, some of us have have been to Nagashima Spaland :) , but that all means nothing, just like what you said.

Contrary to what you may think, secrecy is very important in the industry for the very reasons you mentioned. Yes, it is a small industry, but I seriously doubt a firm in CA building in Japan had much contact with a firm in Europe building in OH. It's also to their advantage to keep their mouths shut. They want to have the biggest coaster in the world too!

SD2K was not 2 feet taller, it was close to 10, and you have to remember why it had it's height.....they don't use feet. SD2K cracked the 90 meter height and that's how it was advertised. (My one T-Shirt from it doesn't even say world's tallest, but it does say "taller than 90 meters".)

One last thing: What the hell is "Lanex terms"? Did you mean "layman's terms"? (Concentrate on English class more, and rollercoasters less, huh?)

Before anyone says it doesn't look 400, remember MF is much closer to the camera, and Magnum is farther away.

A better judge (thought not perfect) would be to compare it to PT in the 5th picture. In the 6th picture it doesn't look that much taller than PT, but PT is MUCH closer.

Cedar Point - America's most "well endowned" amusement park ...

1. Kumba 2. Millie 3. Mantis 4. Lightning Racer 5. Wicked Twister (Front Seat)

Man! What a skyline! Hurry up May,2003!

There is a new twist in the Top-Hat. :)

Still doesnt look 400ft to me, sorry. Looks more like... 375.

Women was god's second mistake.

Perspective man. You can't compare to PT or MF. Besides, Jeff outright told is it's both over 400, and taller than S:TE.

I used one of the photos from virtualmidway.com to find the approximate height of the new ride. if it was at the exact same distance of MF's first hill, then it appears to be about 375 feet. But in reality it is actually quite a bit in the distance. Look at the second hill of MF which we know to be around 190 feet, yet according the markings, it appears to be only 170 or so.

Nice, man. That makes it clear for those who dont get it. Also, Magnum looks like about 150 in that pic! 16 is much closer to Maggie than MF.

If you compare it to Maggie's first hill, it looks to be over 500 feet. You cannot compare to anything else there accurately. The only decent comparison I've seen is the 5th picture in todays VirtualMidway update. Compare it to Power Tower. Not great, but much better comparison than in the other pics (especially the ones where the perspective makes 16 look just a hair taller than PT)

yeah i agree... everything looks a bit smaller... probably so the new one can fit into the pic im guessing?

i dont think its just your mind.... looks different to me too.

I added some more markings to the photo to make it more clear.

Just don't let people think you're trying to use that to prove Dragster is 375....you might want to mark the known heights of Mf's 2nd hill and Maggie's first

Those height markings are all based on the first hill of MF which we all know to be about 315 feet.

It looks like a giant piece of scaffolding with some track on it. I hope they do something to make it look more pleasing to the eye.
