Topping off at CP!

I just logged on and I think being able to see a ride topped out live is pretty wicked!

Shame im all the way over here in England :-( It looks class!!!

I just looked at Cedarpoints web Cam, and they are putting the final peice of track at the top of the tower, and after counting the sections of yellow supports, I will guess that each is a good 40ft each ,and their is 8 of them, which makes the total height of the supports 320ft, Steel Dragon is 318ft, which makes me come to the conclusion that they are going for the height record, if it is in the area of 320ft they are, and thats that. The reason they have not anncounced it is becuase that was their mistake with MF, and then Nagishima Spa Land beat them by like 2ft. In conclusion I can see height, and speed records set at Cedarpoint for 2003.

WoodenCyclone: did you even attempt to read the rest of the thread? How was anything about MF a mistake? And did you know that "Japs" is a mildly racist term?

is it just me or is the whole tower bent backwards? it looks scary, like it can collapse any minute. or is it like that on purpose?

It's just the lens, BigT. The tower is straight.

Yeah, Space Spiral looked the same way in the Wicked Twister cam last year.

Sorry, BigT.. correction.. the spine of the tower does bend forward slightly in the middle. However the face of the tower is straight.

Um...it's not like the "Japs" just looked at their ride, said "We want one a little taller" and voila! They were both well into planning long before either was announced.

Ok, so do I sense a personal attack?, and did you care to read my post carefully?, I think you where too caught up in trying to make urself look beter that you missed out when I stated "The reason they have not anncounced (edit-The new ride) it is becuase that was their mistake with MF". weather or not my choice of words was considered racist to you then sorry, as you can check I will edit that post only for your personal taste, but my personal thoughts with MF was that when they announced very fast. All the sudden Steel Dragon, beat MF's record by 2ft or something close to that. Again my post is my personal thoughts, and ideas, I guess you are a bad person to speak politics with, so I never said that MF was a mistake, but my idea of why they had their record taken from them so fast was prop becuase their announcement came so soon, also im sure im right becuase the day after MF opened Nagishima toped off Steel Dragon 2000, to take the record.

Both of the rides were planned way in advance. They don't just decide at the last minute to do things like that.

That's totally wrong. SD2K was conceived in 1998. It was stated on the show about it's construction. And it was not changed because of the MF announcement. All the design and plenty of fabrication was done well before that. You can't just "add on a few feet" to a coaster, as it would have to be completely redesigned. SD2K was designed for it's current heigt, and you can feel it when you ride it, every hill is perfect.

Whoever said that #16 is only around 320 feet, you're wrong, Its taller than anything else at Cedar Point, so that would put it over 330 feet (the height of Space Spiral.)

Oh, come on, Peabody...don't you know that physics doesn't mean hooey when it comes to coasters? You can just add or subtract feet on the lift hill willy nilly whenever you want.

And Den-stop trying to make urself look beter. All the sudden you dont look so smrt with ur fancy speling and capital leters im persoanly ofended.

What DO they teach them in schools nowadays?

"Willy Nilly"...now THAT would be a great name for this ride. Hey Jeff, add it to the list and hold a new poll! ;)

Y'all have a great weekend. For all y'all this side of the woods, I'll see you on the older/smaller brother of "Willy Nilly" this weekend. Gonna get in for the price of a couple GI Joe with the Iraqui kungfu grip dolls.

Ciao babes!
