Tomb Raider at PKI: Questions answered!

Jeff's avatar

Just got off the phone with Stephanie (my wife), who is down at Paramount's Kings Island. If you don't want to know anything about Tomb Raider, stop reading now!

SPOILER ALERT!

First of all, yes, as pretty much everyone knew, the ride in the end is indeed a Giant Top Spin. You're led through three rooms, get back story on film and finally get to the gigantic room with the ride. I don't know the specifics, and I'll let Steph follow up.

The lava and stalactites are indeed in close proximity to the ride, and bring it well above the realm of typical Top Spin, according to Steph. One other warning... you will get wet!

I'll post some photos tonight of the Tomb Raider model... (the female, that is). ;)

The question I have, is the attraction an enjoyable one?

Cool Jeff! Billy bob is one lucky dude.

Beer, my soon to be wife, coasters, and the FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Is this a great country or what!!

I had no idea preview day was today, alot of people are going to respond with bad comments like" Told ya so" But I think this ride sounds good!

So what is better? SFMM or CP? I don't care! They both have 29 coasters between them that they build so we can have a good time!

I'm with carpedium! I just want to know if its fun!? And hopefully, its not too spinny. And 2Hostyl might want to know if it'll leave him "hangin'". ;)

Oh, and have her give us the scoop on what she thought of the theming as well. Not that its only a day away until I'll be able to ride it!

I want to give a big thanks to Steph as well for going for CB or we might not have the news so soon! Hope she had a good time!

Too bad i can't go there and ride this monster, me myself is a Top Spin fan and yet i havent ridden any Top Spin on crazy program. I can't wait to read the TR:TR:TR :-P (couldn't resist)
Stupid question, but do you have to pay seperate to ride this?
No, B&M Rocks. It's included with park admission.

I'm not going to say "I told you so". (because I never said that it was or wasn't), but how come so many people were so insistant that it's not a Top Spin? Heck, someone even recently claimed to have ridden it and said it wasn't a Top Spin! Just curious.

grrr. I'm fine with it being a Top Spin but I *hate* getting wet! That's two new attractions I have to miss this summer (the other being Roller Soaker)!!

He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking; can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding.

Thanks Jeff! It sounds pretty cool...anyone know if we can get an ACE walkback on that for sure? I've heard mixed answers...

How wet are we going to get? I'll be prepaired for that, thanks for the heads up!

Valleyair Security 2002! 8Years Working at Valleyfair :)!

I'm pretty sure that a choice of either TRTR or The Beast will be availible in the ACE Walkback.

Generally sounds like I ride I am interested in trying. I'm not opposed to getting wet(not soaked)or spinning. I just don't know if it would get any repeat rides from me. The theming and back story would have to be near Spiderman level or brilliance.

The Beast took my question, so I'll just expand. Are we talking log flume wet or raft ride/shoot the chutes wet?? If the temps this weekend live up to the forecasts, I really don't want to be walking around soaked. Also, if the temps do live up to the forecasts, there might not be too many other things running.

AAAAAAAAARRGHHHHH!!!!! this sux. dont get me wrong, i love top spins, but all this themeing just for a top spin? come on PKI could have done something bigger than a top spin for Tomb Raider. and i just hope they dont take SOB out of the walkback. thats my favorite coaster there.

-----------------

Can someone tell me what exactly a Top Spin is? If you can just tell me a name of another Top Spin style ride, maybe I can look it up on rcdb. Thanks!

-Adam

Thanks rollergator. I'm sorry, but that seems like a lot of hype for something like this. This is not the type of ride that gets people to travel across the country. I think I'll catch it when the Del Mar Fair hits San Diego.

-Adam

So waitaminnit.....are there any ridefilm elements in the final chamber at all or just the ride itself?

-'Playa

(oh yeah...almost forgot...told ya so :))
