Time for a Magnum love thread

Would all of you crybabies like some cheese with that whine? ;)

I think Magnum STILL kicks major ass!

I HATE MAGGIE!

Opps, did I say that out loud?!?!

Holy cr*p!!! Reading that after the initial post was just freakin' hilarious! Took me a while before i could sit down normally again...

But anyway, i do agree with him about everyone just sharing his/her opinion. So where is the 'I love Nitro thread'...? :P

Stengel quote: Ich sprich, denke und traĆ¼me Achterbahn!

Helios, its been done before too. LOL

But Nitro doesn't have the following maggie does.

All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)

I Don't hate the ride I just feel it is over- hyped and didn't live up to what I expectied. Also I find out and back layouts un-original and boring.

I have mixed feelings about magnum.

The Good: Wonderfull first drop, great view, lots of ejector air

The Bad: Horribly rough. I can take a rough ride, but magnum was past rough. I cant think of a coaster right now that was a little rough, yet fun at the same time, but i dont just put a coaster in the dirt just because its rough. I rode it again and again, TRYING to like it. everytime, i came off wondering why people like it so much. you get stapled without even trying because the lap bars just fall.

The seats are un-comfortable, and so is the ride itself. My ride went something like this....

At the top of the hill...nice view...down the first drop(lots of air!)...get to the bottom..OWWWW....up to the top of the next hill(great air again!)...down the the bottom...OWWW....and it continues.

Since this is my opinion, i dont think this should really upset anyone, this is just what i think. Millenium Force rates as my #1, but i bet there are atleast 100 enthusiasts that could list a bunch of reasons why they dont think its a good ride, and i can do the same for magnum.

I just can't love Magnum like I used too :(.

It's a far cry from what it used to be...

-----------------
1.Phantom's Revenge 2.Thunderbolt 3.Shivering Timbers 4.Montu 5.Mega Zeph

I love all coasters! ;)

I just put this over on GTTP

Thought it would work here.

How can someone not love maggie?

To me she is like my first car. I have some great memories with that old Oldsmobile. Great freinds, great road trips, freedom and some other stuff too Maggie is the same way. My first lap in 89, i was 9 and I was so scared but Dave got me on it. I got stuck on the lift once for an hour and a half had to walk down but what a view and what an expierience. I remember Jen's first trip with me in 98. She was as scared as I was in 89, but we got on for a second time right afterwards. Coastermania and doing the spiel in the station. The first ride in the morning and the last ride at night.

Just like that Oldsmobile old, wore out, but what fun we had.

What did CPlaya say many moons ago?

You got that right....I done said everything there was to say already. For those who don't know....click here. Now ya do.

The CPlaya 100--6 days, 9 parks, 47 coasters, 2037 miles and a winner.....LoCoSuMo.

talk about beating a dead horse....enough with the magnum love.

Magnum is a great ride.

Nothing is more annoying then people posting all this hate crap in a love thread. I think if a certain thread pertains to you, go ahead, but if not, stay the hell away.

If someone asks, "What should I do at Dorney Park first?" I have no reason to answer because I have never been.

OK, first of all this is not a hate thread so those of you who said that they hated the ride, go away. That said, I hated the ride last year. I had the most severe case of anticipointment when I rode it for the first time. I rode it several more times and found it to be too rough and without air.

This year I rode it several times, most of them in 1.3 and even got in a few trimless night rides and let me tell you, I love this coaster! Is it one of my top coasters? Not really. But I did have a great experience full of massive ejector airtime, sweet even though it was painful. This coaster totally rocks!!

I have road Maggie at least 30 times and I've never had a bad ride. It is the best hyper period. Speed-Airtime-View. What's not to like? And for those of you who think it's rough, Camp Snoopy is right across the path.

speaking of beating a dead horse, I wonder how many of these maggie haters just love SF even though they were gettin wore out and goin down the crapper long before maggie's paint started to fade. What gets a lot of arguments started is not how much we love something, but how much you hate it and hate that we love it!

long live maggie

For those to lazy to click the link here is what Playa said

"Magnum is perhaps the last of the true 'steak and potato' coasters, built in the days before lab coats, desktop CAD and FEA took over.

It's big and it's red and it won't cradle you like your Mommy.

There's no wacky, new-age foot-swinging seating
There's no cartoon superhero for hawking souvenirs
There's no gimmicky theming to get you in some 'mood'
There's no artsy-fartsy re-engineered supports
There's no pansy, computer-tuned bunny hops
There's no Crayola-tone color scheme some 4 year-old picked out
There's absolutely nothing overbanked, hypertwistied, inverted or goofalooped about it

It's a plain old, bare knuckle, straight-up, no-chaser, big-hilled, out-and-back, jolt-you-into-the-lap-bar REAL COASTER built during a REAL COLD WINTER by REAL STEELWORKERS who probably ate big slabs of beef and downed vodka at the end of their workday.

If I want showmanship, I'll go see the circus.
For the last of the true coasters, I'll board Maggie.

-CPlaya"

If that doesn't say it I don't know what does, awesome Playa

Although I MUST say I prefer Nitro ANY day over Magnum-Magnum still rocks! Shes a bit rough in parts but thats what makes Magnum Magnum!! To me MF is the most over rated coaster EVER-on our few yearly CP trips I can skip MF entirelly-but i got to have Magnum! I was thrilled to see Magnum on the latest top 10 discovery channel thing...ever since that show Ive been determined to meet that CP tattoo'd chick-that is my goal!!! Any one have a clue who she is?

Q&A Rock! wow!

*Stands and claps for Playa's statement*

He put into words exactly what Magnum is about. Nitro and Millie I think lacked the pure character Magnum has. It has feeling and character, which is what coasters are about.

Magnum is still better than all hypers I have ridden, including S:ROS at SFNE. Boooya!
