Time for a Magnum love thread

OK with all the Maggie bashing going on of late I just have to say that I love Maggie.

Crazy, fast, full of character, filled with more air then you can shake a stick at, and the best view in the world.

So who is with me?

I LOVE MAGGIE!!!

-----------------
All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)

I HATE MAGGIE!

Opps, did I say that out loud?!?!

But really, I don't see what all of the hype is about. It was a painful, boring ride. I'll give you the view thing though. It has an awesome view, but the rest of the ride sucked. This is just my opinion though, so please don't bash me to hell!

rollerfreak9 First off you stole my name...;)

Second, why respond to a "love" thread and bash the ride?

So many coasters, so little vacation time....

Magnum will always hold a special place in my heart just because it was the first of it's kind. That being said, she is getting older, and is not what she was in '89.

I totally agree geneticfreak, I guess my first ride in 89 is probably the reason I hold Maggie in such high regards today.

Magnum has more airtime than Milly and R Bull combined

Magnum is the best in my book (haven't rode an Intamin hyper yet. ie Superman @ SFNE.)

Well, I rode Maggie for the first time in 2000, and even then, it still skyrocketed towards the top of my favorites list :) It is a great ride, so what if its not perfectly smooth? That doesn't detract from the ride to me. There are so many other factors going towards it anyway, great first drop, great airtime on just about every hill, speed, those awesome tunnels.
It's a great ride, I just think some don't like it because after seeing coaster videos/sites/etc. going crazy over the coaster, their expectations were too high. Or maybe it was just shadowed by Millennium Force in their mind, there are those who love it, and those who hate it, I definately fall into the first category :)

The only rollercoaster I have ridden that still scares the hell out of me.

Why people hate roller coasters is beyond me. Magnum isn't anywhere near the "bad" status, but even a bad coaster is better than no coaster at all. Enthusiasts are spoiled rotten.

Thank You for challenging TOS: The Ride. We hope you enjoy the rest of your day, here at SFCB.

CBob: If Maggie didnt have a 'complete ramp' for a first drop and a totally devoid of air 2nd twist drop, I *might* agree with you. The ejection on the bunnies is nothing short of frightning. It's like someone yanked the whole world from under you. It may even hurt, but not for long.

What did CPlaya say many moons ago? A real "Meat and Potatoes" coaster. Not my favorite anymore, but still great to ride.

Even I have to admit that Maggie has lost a bit - especially in the past few years. Rides seem a bit rougher and new coasters have definitely eclipsed her greatness. Still Magnum xl-200 falls into my top 10 list. I don't see any reason to hate this ride unless you simply choose to rebel against the general love people seem to have for it. That much I can understand - I feel the same way about B&M. So many people just rave but my personal experience has me liking them roughly 50/50 - the exception being B&M inverts, they're all great!

Everybody is probably looking for something different in a ride and for many of us, Maggie delivers it. I'll be a Magnum fan for years to come.

Exactly! Reading through these Anti-Magnum comments, you'd think the ride was terrible. Yet every time I ride, every train comes back full of cheering riders. The GP loves it, but some coaster enthusiasts are too spoiled and seem to hate every coaster that isn't glass smooth. As for me, I love Magnum. Its in my top 10, and the roughness doesn't bother me at all. ( Don't sit in the back of the train if it hurts you.) Magnum has more air than any other hyper I've ridden (and I've ridden 6), and its location gives it the best view on a coaster anywhere and an awesome night time ride. Magnum rocks! Yeah.

Long live Shockwave!

I LOVE MAGNUM! Nuff' said.

Call me SpongeBobAlex.

No Magnum,no me,enough said.:)

I found very few redeeming qualities on Magnum.

I don't know why people say Magnum is rough, i found it not to be as rough as people are saying. Personally Magnum is one of my favorites, number 2 actaully (next to MF). I love the air time on it and i love the view ( and thats pretty good for being afraid of hieghts).

Oops mispelled a couple things.

Interesting theory. Although if you look on the other side of the spectrum, take oh , Raging Bull for example. You will find people not liking this hyper to much because its glass smooth and has no forces(which I dont agree with)..

Basically it boils down to what your tastes are. And I have noticed with enthusiasts, that it is extreme on both sides.

Some like smooth and forceless, others like rough and out of control.

Pick your poison.
