The real "What is Holiday World up to?" thread

I still want a Tidal Wave ride at Holiday World. It would go over so well.

13.5 million at this park is like 30 million at say PKI or CF, Why? Because the look into what they are going to do very deeply, How to do it, And how to do it the best way. Not a at the last minute we are going for a record plan or something thats never been done before although they've proved creative with Zoombabwe and other stuff :)

Bahari and it's new expanded area was something like 3 million. So lets look at the big picture

Coaster, This is a guess and only a guess, but they could get something Legend sized or bigger for say 6 million, Another waterslide of some kind. Say 1 million for one slide like a toilet bowl or possibly up to two million for a four slide complex.

That right there is only 8 million of 13.5 million 9 million tops.

Im betting that clearing and landscaping water and electric is costing a good 2 million, Remember sewage ect has to be installed.

That leaves a cool 1.5 million for a couple, Possibly up to 4 other rides. Remember, HW spends wisely like getting a used Double Shot.

Im overanalizing but it's fun to do, For all I know, Doing some of this IN House is saving them more money. Like hiring the guys who built That woodie in Arizona.

After seeing the footers in the Holiblog, Im sure there is some kind of coaster going in. Although they could be footers for any number of things, They sure look likie coaster footers to me.

One thing I find interesting about Holiday World: None of there rides go upside down. This is kind of unusual for a theme park, even of this size...

I wonder if they will ever put anything in that goes upside down? (not that it matters to me, I hate being on my head!)

Landon Parks Holiday World Fan (HWF) from Bloomington, Indiana.

Kennywood only has one ride that goes upside down. How many rides does BPPB have that invert? I don't know if Camden has any inverting rides anymore either.

Just thought I'd throw that out in the mud;).

Pleasure Beach coaster inversion count stands at one, being the Arrow-built Revolution.

Off the top of my head the only non-coaster inverting rides are Bling and Spin Doctor.

*edit - doesn't Skydiver at Camden Park class as an inverting ride? I know when I rode a similar ride at a fair over here my ex had the car upside down at the top AND the bottom of each rotation!

Also RCDB states that coaster listing as a fact, remember, a fact is just something that can be proven, proven true or false it is still a fact.

I take it the blue rapids ride boats were done by the same people who did the black lap bars on the Raven in 2000? (Although as I recall, the only thing that was *promised to us* at the time was that they wouldn't be orange. Which they weren't.)

Also, for anybody who doesn't already know...the Holiday World Firecracker lives on. The ride is now owned by Amusements of America, and it travels the country under its new name and paint job as the Avalanche. A couple of years ago, it actually got a new magnetic braking system, its third new braking system since Holiday World sold it. I last saw it at last year's Ohio State Fair.

Quick question: how far from Indianapoils is HW? As luck would have it, a former co-worker and good friend just moved there, and now I'm that much closer to a launching spot for making my first pilgrimage to HW. Your place really sounds great Paula! :)

If Halloswings made Mrs. Koch dizzy all day after one ride, I hope they don't add any rides with inversions!

If riding the rides makes (Saint) Patty turn green, maybe the new section really is St. Patrick's Day.;)

What woodie in Arizona? There was on built in New Mexico.

Thank the Lord for grandparents in Evansville. My always free, open-buffet, comfortable hotel of choice a mere 45 minutes from HW.

Just to throw an unlikely situation out there for speculation's sake, the footers shown in the holiblog could be for a waterslide as opposed to a wooden coaster. They could support something like Zoombabwe, which uses wider wooden supports than it's neighboring single-person slides (see pic). I doubt this is the case since all the waterslides I've seen at HW use piles instead of spread footings, but I had to throw the theory out there. I'm still betting (and hoping) for a new coaster through the woods. :)

I made IB from HW in four hours which is 1.5hrs north of Indy

It *would* be nice of the legislature to grant us a road to get from HW to IB without having to drive all the way to SFKK first...I guess the locals could use it too... ;)

P.S. to Jimvy...US versions of the Chance Skydiver don't invert, only the European ones... ;) LOL!
