The real "What is Holiday World up to?" thread

How well you know us ... and how little you know us.

I seriously doubt you would come to the conclusion of steel supports by knowing HW well. GG maybe, but not HW. ;)

LOL Paula ;) Given the clues so far the only thing I'd be surprised NOT to see next year is a Carousel. But that's only a wish/guess.

Because we are all looking forward to an expansion and not an attraction, who is to say that the L brackets are not for a couple new slides? Remember how well Paula led us to believe that the wood pictured in the Holiblog was for a coaster, when in reality it was for the Bahari fence, which btw I saw it today. Totally awesome!
OT: Paula, did your son at Rose-Hulman work on the solar car that rayced in the last American Solar Challenge?
Swoosh--

I don't think so. I believe that sort of thing is part of upper-classmen projects.

He is involved, however, with research involving Cochlear ear implants.

Thanks, Paula

Paula: That sounds interesting!

(sorry, SOMEONE had to say it...!)

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

No it really DOES sound interesting. The reason I was asking is because I was on the council for American Solar Challenge 2003 and I am currently working on the North American Solar Challenge that will rayce up into Canada from the US.

emphasis on the *sounds*... ;)

Im wondering if they played the Imperial March for the Gov or Paula?

:)

Chuck
Who woulda love to have seen that one :)

Quick question for you Paula,

I was wondering if you guys were planning on having a presser June 16th for the announcement, and if so, will it be a public affair?

I'm currently planning my annual pilgrimage from Toledo, OH to Holiday World and the inner-geek in me is curious. I figure what the hey, I'm planning for a June trip anyway...:)

A "presser"? Is that a British term?

Or a new kind of iron?

Actaully. I never use the term "press" ... as it refers to print media only. I used to be a radio and TV reporter and always use the terms "news media," "news conference," "news release," etc. Sorry, I guess "newser" doesn't have quite the panache of "presser."

We don't have all the details worked out...in fact we may need to change the date, as Will is on the IAAPA board and has a meeting in D.C. that week.

That said, the announcement would be made in one of the theaters, so if you're at the park that day you may certainly attend.

I'll post more on the HoliBlog as we get closer.

Thanks, Paula

Hmm, I can't help but think about this all the time and the more I analyze it the more I think about what will unfold for us!

New expansion--> Definitely means more than one attraction--> Could mean new themed area-->Family Park-->Family Holidays-->Valentine's Day and Thanksgiving are the only ones left. Hmm... Both would have great theming and HW could use a little more lovin'!!

I went by HW today and was checking out the area...anyone that knows me knows i want a coaster next year. From everything i've grasped on the post on here and HW blog from paula I think a coaster is sorta out of the mixed.

When your on the highway coming down SR162 towards the park from I64 you'll see the lumber that is pictured on the blog...has anyone noticed that there is a new construction rock road path from the trees that have been taking out. All that construction is behind bahari on the back side of the park. Well the new attraction/expansion is at the old petting zoo if i'm correct. I just know as many of times i've been to HW there isn't much room there except work the condensed wooded area where the picnic grove and employee parking lot.

In reality I think we're getting some new rides for the park and something really major in the water park.

Any Ideas?

I think since they have said that they plan to double the size of the waterparkover the next few years, I would have to agree with you, but I still think they want to make much more capacity and fun in the Holiday World portion of the park.
So did anyone see the interview on TV with the hint? Nope? No one? Okay Paula, what was the hint?
Sorry, I took Benedryl last night and didn't last long enough to watch the 10 o'clock news.

Don't know if they used it or not. :(

What? Your son takes time out of his busy schedule to show you how to use your Holiblog service, and then he does not use it himself and he gets Holiblogged; while you, the HW PR lady, do not even watch your park on the evening news? I think you should Holiblog yourself for that....and give us the clue. :) *** Edited 5/26/2005 6:03:38 PM UTC by RavenTTD***
