The real "What is Holiday World up to?" thread

Actually, I tried to watch it at 5:00 pm, too ... and just as it came on, Tom called from school.

Wasn't meant to be, I guess.

I think I love HW so much, I might just have to donate one of my new fangled gizmos to their PR department. It's something called a "VCR". Ya'll are gunna love it. :)

Paula, I will forgive you if this is a GG woodie. Otherwise, I will expect you to Holibog yourself. :)

I've been keeping up with this thread for awhile now, but never registered an account till I had reason to post-

I saw the news segment last night and watched very closely for any hints and it seems they didn't use that footage. It was very short consisting of Pat and Ann Komis(sp?) talking mostly about the history of the park/family and no mention was made of future expansion especially next year specifically. It was interesting nonetheless.

We will just have to wait for someone else to spill the beans. :)

Hey Paula, I like the water too! :)

Us, "fatties" appreciate the free water!

We've got a VCR, smarty pants. (Two, actually.) We just have lousy reception here in the PR office. (Probably that new water tower! I had to move my satellite radio receiver in my office after it went up.)

When I first worked here, I went crazy trying to catch every TV news appearance we had. Happily, we get enough coverage that I gave up.

And for something like this, the station is kind enough to send us a copy.

Paula, you should have had the workers mount receive antennas for your VCR and satellite radio on top of the new water tower! :)

Now about that news cast: You say it was the 10 O'Clock news. Is that 10:00 EST, EDT, CDT or CST? :)

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

It was 10 P.M. CDT ;)
My favorite time zone ... up "on the hill" at St. Meinrad?

They are on "God's Time."

(Saint Meinrad Archabbey is one of only two archabbeys in the U.S.)

I moved my XM receiver up on top of filing cabinet and was back in business. I highly recommend it!

Point noted. For best reception, place XM radio receiver on top of Paula's filing cabinet. Gotcha.

Sirius ... Sirius ... you will get Sirius ... :)

Can I try your filing cabinet? Mine hasn't given me good reception in a week ... ;)

Try XM.

Okay, to get us back on topic...I just took some more photos of mystery materials this afternoon.

Should get them on the HoliBlog soon. :)

YAY! I only give you crap Paula cause you frustrate me so. It's nothing personal. Unless of course you took these pics from Kentucky...then it will be personal.
I felt like I was out in the prairie.

I can still feel creepy-crawlies under my socks!

Prairie, Woohoo, Free Stew :)
Those bents sure look like woodie supports to me. They could just go under wood supports under the track (I have posted links to pics like that earlier in this thread) or they could be for a steel support structure. That last pic is interesting. I have to do some looking to find those, but I don't recall pieces like that on a steel support woodie. All the flat connectors were about 3 bolt holes wide from what I can recall. I think those are used to brace large wooden supports where one is on top of another, but I need to find a pic of one to be sure.

edit: Did anyone else think that that "bird stuff" was a hint about the name as opposed to an actual event? *** Edited 5/26/2005 11:29:56 PM UTC by RavenTTD***

Trust me. That was a big, predatory bird hovering up in the sky.

Creeped me out!

Nope, it was hinting at a "Turkey Day" themed section for the park. ;)

She did say something about a wild turkey! But she also talked about being creeped out a lot. I get creeped out on Halloweeen. Maybe they will expand Halloween! *** Edited 5/27/2005 1:16:03 AM UTC by a_hoffman50***
Woodn't you like to know?

What's his face hates to cut down trees?

It's Arbor Day!

I am going to take Paula's word for it this time on the bird since she got us those nice pics (thanks), but as a rule, I don't trust her. She is just toying with us, and I never trust people like that. Of course, it is nothing personal since those pics were nice close ups. :)

Paulas as honest as anyone I know, She might Bent the truth a little.
