Awesome looking coaster! Stupid so-called "theme"

On-board audio and visual effects are more theme than 99% of the coasters out there.

I think the ride looks awesome - actually! Non-stop action, although I am surprised they didn't go for some sort of record here... That's almost a first for SFMM :)

And again, another superb animation from my boy Keith!

Looks great, and I'm kinda jealous all I have to do next year is Buccaneer Battle - ugh. :)

I didn't even read through the entire press release, Gonch. Yes sight and sounds special effects will make this more of a themed experience and just might get me to stop talking so bad about the theme. Is this the only wood coaster with an on board sound system?

Looks like another fantastic design from GCI. As for the ride length, I'm perfectly fine with it. Hell some of the longest coasters around do nothing for me anyway.

After making my first trip to Knott's today I can say that it doesn't look like it'll be any match for Ghostrider.

You might want to wait until it is open and actually ride it before making a comparison to Ghostrider, which btw is nowere near as good as it used to be when it first opend(when it was kick as$)

On its worst day, Ghostrider is more intense than your typical GCI. I am very confident in RockDown's statement.

Alex,

You're the second person who said something about how Ghostrider used to be better. It may be true but I'm not sure how. Not a single trim and it blazes through the course about as fast as I'd ever want it to. There's sick laterals and airtime through the entire ride.

Besides, we're all entitled to our early speculation. When it opens next year I'll gladly retract that statement if it turns out to smoke Ghostrider.

Don't worry, you won't have to. ;)

Ghostrider on it's worst day is close to unridable.

If I made a list of 'roughest rides', Ghostrider would come in at #2.

But for many of us, "rough" does not mean "bad". IMO, a rough ride with airtime and laterals is way better than a smooth ride without airtime and laterals.

I'm sorry, should've specified. "Rough", in this context, means "painful like a brain hemorrhage".

When I say "rough", I mean "more rough than enjoyable". Otherwise, I generally say "intense"....as in Hades sure is intense (except for that one persistent rough spot that has been there since the first time I rode it). Matt, OTOH, he really does like it rough - as in, "that second lap on Predator was so bad, if it had been the first, it would have been my last." Ghostrider, in my numerous experiences, has never been anywhere close to that.

Well I sure do like an aggressive wooden coaster meaning lots of forces in the turns, speed, and airtime. There was a whole lot all of the above going on when I rode Ghostrider Tuesday. What there wasn't was the sharp bouncing that rattles my brain or sends a shock up my spine like on Mean Streak.

The kind of rough that Matt likes is Tx Giant rough (you knew it was coming).

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Only the Texas Giant Rough that you and I shared in October '05. The Texas Giant Rough of July '07 was too much for even me. :)

I also like a rough and agressive wooden coaster, which is why I'll take Voyage over El Toro anyday. But Ghostrider in recent years has been beyond painful, and the airtime (save for "the drop") has all but evaporated.

Slight name change, instead of |"Terminator - The Coaster", it is now called "Terminator Salvation - The Ride" accrding to the official website. Definatly an improvement in the name department

Update....at WCB '09, Tim Burkhardt General Manager of Magic Mountain noted that Terminator Salvation: The Ride will be the most heavily themed ride that they will have ever done. (Which should be decent considering this park generally themes a lot more extensively than the other Six Flags properties).

The thematic elements of this ride will be designed and built by those that worked on the movie set for the actual film.

The queue for this coaster will for the most part be completely enclosed "in the dark," with a plot-line tied into it, and also "explains" how the wood coaster ties into the story.
