Terminator themed GCI to open at Magic Mountain on Memorial Day weekend 2009

Well, now we know it's going into the same footprint as Psyclone, which I find to be a bad idea.

The coaster is slated to open sometime during Memorial Weekend of next year.

Interesting. Not one single thing about "Terminator" makes me think of wood.

^ How about the female Terminator? ;)

Psyclone probably came closer to terminating its riders than a GCI ever will. ;)

Now that Shirley Manson is a terminator, all definitions are off.

^So does that mean Shirley craves and demands wood? :)

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Deadwood, perhaps. (I'm sure the hard core Garbage fans will get it.)

Hi

Seems to me if its ok for a wooden coaster to be named after such things as a bird, rabbit or a dog, or even a bolt of thunder then its OK for one to be named after Terminator.

Q. What happened to that wooden coaster?
A. Termite ate her.

Terminator does not remind me of a wood coaster. Robots are made of metal. My creative mind can not link the two together in any way.

We haven't seen the new movie yet though. Maybe the T-2Trillion is made of wood, and that's the twist ending.

The movie looks promising, and GCI coasters are amazing, imo. I just wish "theme parks" would use a little creativity when theming their rides though. This shows a lack of creativity. It's as if the SF bigwigs have never seen a Terminator movie before or something.

Theming a wooden coaster to the Terminator makes more sense to me than spending a fortune to enhance what is already arguably the best steel coaster in the world.

Good point, Vater. Just another example.

Forgot to give kudos to Bear's awesome joke.

Reminds me of this one...A termite walk into a bar and asks, "Hey! Where's the Bartender?"

I left my 3 seasons at Paddlewheel with hundreds and hundreds of 'em.

Rabbits are made of wood? Greyhounds are made of wood? Thunder bolts are made of wood? Ravens are made of wood? Evel Kneival is made of wood? Does thinking of a Greek god or an earthquake conjur up wood?

So are you saying all wooden coasters should be named after trees!?

Why, yes. Yes they are.

Opening soon at Six Flags Magic Mountain... the Larch!

Point taken. Just keep in mind that I am not the only one who feels that they could have done better with the property.

New in 2010 is Transformers: Megatron's Log Flume.

2012 - Super Mario Kart Looping Starship.

2014 - The Ironman Wave Pool.

Eh, whatever. Give me a great wooden coaster worth even talking about and show me that your going to take care of it this time, then I'll be ready to talk theme. They could theme the coaster to a copy machine, and if it rocks, I'm there!

Probably a better name than 'Dead Parrot' -- although the plumage would be lovely.

Wait... I thought that if a ride has a bad name, it will be a bad ride.

Lord Gonchar's avatar

Nope. It's apparently changed to, "If a ride name or theme makes you think of a material other than the one the ride is constructed of then it's a bad ride, bad theme and stupid idea."

So hard to keep up with the kids these days. ;)
