Terminator themed GCI to open at Magic Mountain on Memorial Day weekend 2009

^ I just confirmed that it's 24 riders per train. Tim misspoke.

So no, no capacity nightmare. :)

How come no one else who saw the statistic of "-1g" made one or two of these? :) :)

My quote function doesn't seem to be working, but Gonch said, "Track length is irrelevant to capacity period."

Are you referencing the fact that ride time is the important factor? I would argue that ride time is more or less a function of track length...

Still sounds like oversimplfying to me.

The ride time is speed and length. I could say capacity is affected by the speed of the coaster and be as accurate as saying it's affected by length.

But even still ride time isn't the big factor if you ask me. Technically it's blocking.

Capacity is simply a matter of how many trains you can move. A train can't move until a block is cleared.

Assuming efficient operations, two coasters of the same length, speed and train configuration will have vastly different capacities if one has a mid-course block and the other doesn't.

I'd bet a longer ride with a mid-course would probably, in most real-world cases, move more people than a shorter one without.

Sure. A ride's capacity is going to be determined by people per train and time for the longest block - usually the station - (assuming they can keep a a train in the longest block at all times) if it has the optimal number of trains.

So yes, if the coatser is running optimally, the only way you're going to increase capacity is if you increase people per train or decrease the time of the longest block.

But, if you drop out a train or more (or for instance a one train coaster) and the trains can move at will, the capacity will determined by (ride time+station time) and number of people per train and by number of trains.

Just as an example, the other day Titan was only running two trains and they were never waiting for each other, but the station was empty quite a bit of the time since the trains took a while (on the long course) to come back around.

The movie now has its trailer up. I have to say it looks pretty cool. Looks better than T3.

Terminator Salvation trailer.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

There have been several trailers already, and that one doesn't really offer a lot of new information.

And for the record, that's one of my favorite NIN songs.

Just watched the trailer, saw bits of wood such as a wood fence. Now having athe new GCI themed to Terminator makes complete sense to me!

The ride's queue entry signage is up (looks nice!) and buildings for the pre-show elements are going up too. Ride opens in a little over 2 weeks from today.

Two weeks? Man, they are going to have to push it I think!

If it was Disney, they'd have a shot. I'm guessing IF they push the date back, it'd be about the 4th of July.

I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!

The trains have arrived. Not quite what I expected. I think they look kind of ugly. Note a pair of speakers mounted on the back of each car. Interesting to see how the on-ride audio will work with this coaster.

THe speakers are mounted on the backs to be 'in the face' of the next row behind it...what about the first row...they'll only hear what little they can hear from the speakers mounted on their back? ???

Nope. The front speakers will be mounted on the front car.

The ride starts testing on Sunday, and according to the park, everything is right on schedule.

Is there already a wooden roller coaster in operation that has on-board audio? Or is Terminator Salvation The Ride the first to attempt this?

First.

I absolutely love the trains, not what I was expecting at all. The whole ride is looking much much better to me now that everything is comming together. The shows buildings are looking great, they torn up concret from the pad for landscape, I love how the queing is just all under and surrounded by massive amouts of wood. I think this is going to be a short be sweet ride Imo.

Trains are on the track and looking good

Wow, this ride is looking teriffic. Much better than I was expecting. Good job SFMM!

Picture from the observation tower and from the other side of the big blue wall don't do the ride justice. I looks like it has alot of suprises.
