Tears for Fears or PKI

TFF was great. the 80's...
Last night, on VH1 I saw a Winger video, i laughed my tail off. Amazing how hard rock has changed...

Darn that VH1! They just wouldn't let the eighties wear off like any normal cocaine high. Now we have to go through this again. If leg warmers come back, I'm outta here.

I've got sad news for you Jeremy, and not just about the election. Leg warmers are back in full force. I had NO trouble finding them at the mall here for my Flashdance halloween costume, and walked by 3 girls wearing them (with mini-skirts and flip-flops) in Wal-Mart.

Hey, I want to go see Duran Duran as well, my sister loved them, and I, unlike Danny-O, am old enough to remember (though I'm still not as old as Tina;)).
and next comes the Spandex....
Did Spando Ballet (sp?) wear spandex?
I don't know, if that much is-
TRUE!

Shhh, you can't tell them my secrets Dawn. ;)

Hey, stop it guys, or I'll be forced to start singing 'Kiss', and you don't want to hear my Prince impressions...
Yet, but dawn, your in North Carolina. They still sport jheri curls in Raleigh so we *know* they are in a time warp. ;)

Why doesn't Tony surf here more often, LOL.
"Schnapps!" get your butt in here, there's Erasure-talk! ;)

Hey Jeremy, I hate to break it to ya, but Hope just conceded. I'm still kinda suprised he lost, but I guess the people spoke.

Erasure never broke up.

They've released 13 full-length CDs, 4 mini-CDs, and 35 singles in 18 years. Most recently they released "Lifeboat" in 2000 and two Cds in 2003: "Other People's Songs" [a collection of covers] and a greatest hits package. Their 36th single and 14th full-length CD comes out early next year.

The problem is that radio has all but abandonned them, although they did score a minor radio hit with their cover of "Solsbury Hill" last year.

Pet Shop Boys suffers from the same dilemma: they constantly release new CDs but they never get radio airplay.

See Dawn. Some people like Jeremy do remember you live in North Carolina...

Joe C. (a.k.a. Yosef, Paris, Josie)- "Hey Dawn, I'm going to be at Great America this weekend. Do you want to meet us?"
Dawn- "Uhh, I still live in North Carolina... since the last time you asked me to go to Great America and every time you forget to invite me to Carowinds. Thanks."
Joe C.- "Oh yea..."

He hates you. ;)

Jeremy's just a profile clicker. I know the type. :)

I stumbled onto this thread so innocently. And it scared me, oh so much. And I ran. I ran so far away...

Dave...they're still together, too. AFOS's original line-up played a radio festival here in LA this summer.

+Danny: is "Brand New" pretty good? I tend to like the Smiths-influenced stuff
Have you ever heard of a Brit band called "Gene"?

I thought Erasure was still together. They released a cd recently called "love Boat" and did an album of covers called "other peoples songs" a couple years ago

Speaking of related synth-pop, Depeche Mode just released both a 3-disc and a single-disc of remixes including a new version of "enjoy the silence"

Oleta probally won't be touring with TFF, but Im hoping they have some sort of female background singers. The one used on their new album sounds a whole lot like her

KISS, I'd be more affraid if ya sang Nelson...
lol

Duran Duran never really went away either. They came out with the horrible "Thank You" in 1995 (which featured the band doing covers of "White Lines" and "911 Is A Joke"), "Medazzaland" in 1997, and "Pop Trash" in 2000. "Pop Trash" in my opinion was pretty good, even if it was only Simon, Nick and Warren. The new cd "Astronaut" is absolutely fantastic. It took me a few listens to get into it, but it has a very unique yet familiar sound to it. The bonus DVD that came with it has some good concert footage of the band performing "(Reach Up For The) Sunrise", "Hungry Like The Wolf", "What Happens Tomorrow", "New Religion", and "Wild Boys".

I only had the chance to see DD in 1993 during their "Wedding Album" tour and I thought it was awful. They changed around some of their songs to the point that they were unrecognizable and it just wasn't the same as seeing the original 5. If they come to Cleveland next year, I am SO there.

And rentzy, TFF sang classics like "Shout", "Everybody Wants To Rule The World", "Head Over Heels", "The Seeds Of Love", "Woman In Chains" (one of their best), and others. You'd know the songs if you heard them.

Ray P. (Durannie since 1983... and realizes he is WAY off topic here!)

I think Brand New's Deja Entendu album is brilliant lyrically and their sound is really unique and different even compared to their first album, Your Favorite Weapon, which had more of a punk rock sound. Listen to Sic Transit Gloria, Okay I Believe You But My Tommy Gun Don't, and Me Vs. Maradonna Vs. Elvis to see how varied their sound is. It's kind of bitter and harsh, but I enjoy it. ;)
