Supports on site for Gadv's 05 Coaster

No, it's because no one else cares *that* much about records.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

... And no-one else is willing to invest $25 million on a boring coaster with a great drop ;)
Why would someone want a clone of the world's largest kiddie coaster?

I want to go back to my post on the first page about misconceptions that enthusiasts on message boards tend to spout without thought. Specifically the first one:

"1. A park will not build a coaster type when there is another of the same type in their comp set. (for example: "SFGAdv won't get a rocket coaster because Hershey has one just 2 hours away" or "Dorney won't get a floorless because there is one an hour away")"

If this does turn out to be a L-TH-B rocket coaster not only did they get a coaster type that is the same as a park just a couple hours away did, but the got a layout that's strikingly similar to one already in their own park. Because let's face it - a L-TH-B coaster would essentially be a jacked up version of B&R:TC's Batman side.

Why would SFGAdv build even a 300' top hat when they have a 200' top hat right across the park?

So are we going to see a layout (like Storm Runner which is just 2600 feet, mind you) or are we going to start hearing rumors of how B&R:TC's days are numbered?

At any rate the whole thing seems to validate misconception #2 as well:

"2. Past ride histories at other parks determine what purchases totally unrealated parks will make in the future. (for example: "SFGAdv will not get a rocket coaster because of all the problems CF has had with theirs")"

In anything, this move should kill any notion that past experience determines future park decisions. TTD still isn't up as much as many people would probably like. Just a few weeks ago peple were proclaiming Intamin dead and TTD a deathtrap with a limited lifespan - Xcelerator needed help in the past, the impulses were buggy, restraint design was questioned on the sit down coasters and yet here were are looking at the same style ride going up and no one seems to mention any of those things except TTD's uptime.

Enthusiast forums confuse me. :)

Except for the fact that Millennium Force is incredible...
... Incredibly boring! :)

Enthusiasts aren't happy no matter what parks build. One coaster is too rough, while the other is too smooth. This coaster is too fast, but that one over there is too slow. ----- is too intense, but _____ is too boring.

Can't we just be satisfied that parks build coasters at all? Not that I woud mind, but parks all over the country could start going the way of Paramount's Kings Island and build rides that focus on the family, which in case you didn't know, has NOT included major roller coasters at this point.

Gonch, it's also quite possible (more than likely) that GAdv. started work on this coaster long before TTD started acting up. Maybe they trusted Intamin would get it right by the 4th time.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I have to disagree, CoasterKrazy. I think Enthusiasses are not ever happy. Not one coaster announcement in the past 4 years has disappointed me.

:)

I have been away from this forum for 4 straight days, and it doesn't surprise me that we are playing Guess the Manufacturer, just like ya'll did last year with Storm Runner. You all were convinced it was a Hyper, but it turned out to less then 200 ft. with multiple inversions to boot!

I have come to the conclusion that not one of you really knows what it will be, and you all are offering valuable opinions on what it could be.

I'm just surprised that some of you say that its not possible to build a Rocket Coaster, or that Six Flags is out of there minds to give another Rollercoaster to SFGradv.

Let's just face it people, the reason Six Flags Great Adventure is getting a rollercoaster and not Six Flags Astroworld, or Six Flags America, is because Six Flags Great Adventure is mainstream.

If I lived in New York City I would be going to Great Adventure before I even knew America existed.

In my opinion, I think this is an Intamin Coaster, but I don't think its a Strata Coaster. It could be a rocket coaster, although I don't think it would have a Layout like TTD because like Gonchar said, the park already has a Rollercoaster like that.

I think it could be a simple Rocket coaster with a launch, tophat, and maybe a few airtime hills?

By the way, if it in fact does break speed and height records....any guesses at what Cedar Point has in store for us in the future?

Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

Kyle, isn't it past your bed time?;)

Actually, some of us do know what we're talking bout, but thats the thing...we're not talking.

Its been stated on RCDB that, yes, it is an Intamin Rocket. That was just added this week. I have a feeling they know whats coming, but were holding back till those supports came...

Has RCDB been wrong before? Yes.

Could those in the know be wrong? Absolutely.

But when sources that have the ability to be right the majority of the time agree, then some ring of truth comes out.

But I'm sure we'll hear about it sooner or later.
:)

Mommy said I'm a big boy now and I don't need a bedtime! ;)

Being your elder and all, I think its time for bed, Kyle. Let the real "Big Boys" talk it out late at nite.

;)

P.S. Thanks for changing the sig!

I think you should be getting a lot more sleep then me Tekno...Since your gonna be riding SOB soon. I'd get all the precious moments of sleep I could, because after that "experience" it will hurt to much to lay on your throbbing head! ;)

But the true pivotal moment was when Rctycoon2k proclaimed, "I am already sick of people speculating which manufacturer. It's Intamin, deal with it."

It was that moment that I breathed a small sigh of relief.

But when he followed up with, "It's Intamin. No-one else, jeez." - then all the weight lifted from my weary shoulders. I saw the light and had a new hero to guide my enthusiasm for roller coasters. The visionary had arrived!

Alas, my new found sense of calm was short lived when he finished it up with, "I've known it since I saw the small pedestal supports."

What!? You mean he just looked at the pictures that we all were looking at!?

...and that was the day I realized there are no heroes. :(

For all I know from just looking at those pictures, I would say the park is building a B&M 4D coaster!

Its okay, Gonch, We can't all be heros. You have your RCT, I have my sources. Err, wait. I don't have any sources. Oh well, I did make some cool coasters named after a few of you. Oh, and I'm immortal in that one thread on here.

Oh well...

I know it's Intamin, It was the pedestals that proved to me that it was a rocket. ;)

Also, who's to say it will be bigger than TTD, just by looking at one support. Maybe it will only have a 250 foot top-hat with a branch support instead of a tower (ALA-Storm Runner)

Now I'm not going against anyone here, but my opinion is if SF gave SFGAdv a rocket coaster taller than TTD, it would probably be the biggest mistake they have ever made. UNLESS, Intamin finally figured out whats been wrong with TTD and have made the improvements to newer models.

With the current state, TTD is in and how unreliable the other hydraulic launch Intamin coasters have been in their first few years of operation, it would be a rather stupid decision.

If it does get built, which I wouldnt be very surprised if it does, it is then quite obvious SF is interested more in records and money rather than having reliable rides built and pleasing their guests. Cause unless Intamin figured out how to get it to work reliably, and it is taller than TTD, then this ride will more than likely be down more than 50% of the summer its built.

I'm still reserving judgement on it all. And yes, coaster supports sometimes show up WAY in advance for little rides. It all depends on how much the manufacturer is making and what type of construction schedule both the park and the manufacturer want to keep.

If this thing was going to be as tall as TTD, I would *assume* we would've seen footers poured by now. As I said, I'll reserve judgement for now...
