Supports on site for Gadv's 05 Coaster

Hey, when right before the launch on TTD, when the train rolls backwards for about a foot, is that the system weighing the train to see how much power is required to move it to 120 mph?
I don't think its that. Xcelerator does the same thing as I recall.

Fate is the path of least resistance.

The train rolls back to lock onto the catch car.

Either way, the train has to be weighed in some way. If not, the train could end up probably traveling in excess of 130 mph.
Rocket Coaster

between 320-380 ft.

a speed over 100 mph

at least 1 inversion or overbank

and it is themed to...well I haven't thought of that.

I'm just bringing up past points, but SFGAdv already has The Chiller. They would need to put something really special in there. Now going by what MagnumAllan put together, my brother has made some very strange equations.

*WARNING* If you do not like extremely bad logical skills or guessing games DO NOT READ THIS. Please don't hate me. I'm just a fat kid. :-D

353 of launch track, about 820-900 feet of track up and down(my brother says it's going to be a record breaker), plus however big the top hat is, brings you to about 1200-1300 feet. The GAdv coaster is 2480 feet long, so that leaves about 1100 feet of track left, minus things like the station, the curve into the vertical track, etc. So roughly we put together a total estimate of about 800-1000 feet of track left. If it's going to be like TTD, it'll be about another 400 feet of track plus a turn back to the station. So we(in our own little stupid heads) formulated that it will not be like TTD unless it is nice and high.

But don't listen to that at all, because it's wrong. ALL OF IT.

My guess:

Rocket Coaster

Over 420 feet, below 450

Over 120 mph(basically a height/speed record breaker)

At least one inversion

My brother says I'm guessing a height/speed record breaking Storm Runner is coming to Great Adventure. Not quite.

Sorry if you read all the way through this. I just wasted a minute of your precious lives.

Let's also not forget that you shouldn't reason with things like... GAdv already has this... or that...

You're talking about a park with a ton of steel coasters and ONE wooden coaster. Strange enough? Try this on for size.

All you pundits that say they won't have a top hat because they already have one on Chilluh. Keep in mind that this park NOT only has 2 coasters named after Batman, BUT they're RIGHT next to each other.

over by the safari parking lot, near the rolling thunder turnaround (about where the old kennel stood) there is construction going on and there is a large hole in the ground. i dont know much about the construction of rocket coasters- but could this mean that this is where the top hat tower could be located? if thats true, then, following the pink markers in the season pass parking lot , that could put the station between scream machine and bugs bunny land... right in the area of the season pass entrance. could this coaster possibly link bugs bunny land and boardwalk?

just guesses of course

I really don't think 2,480' is enough to do it. Dragster's launch should theoretically use 352' of track also. I think by eliminating the two pre-launch blocks on Dragster, you could eliminate maybe 100' of track. Then if you had just a single station and a smaller turn into it, it might be possible. But remember, at the same time the curves into the top hat would have to be larger, the top hat itself would be taller, and it would require probably a slightly longer brake run. To be honest guys, I don't think it can be done.
Footer digging is underway for the tower and the hole is enormous. I just posted some new photos on my website: http://amusementpics.com/SFGAdv%202005%20Construction.htm

A susposed loop in there would take atleast 900 ft, so that seems almost out of the question.

But this is kind of fun, I have to admit. I remember watching TTD's big yellow supports arrive, then start to go up. Then all of the sudden it was slanting inward, and no one knew what to do with that. Then the supports for the vertical track were twisting in ways people thought it would be impossible to complete. Then the announcement, and everyone settled down.

Never say never! Or can't. Or anything else along those lines, especially in other languages. :-D

I think the real question here is will this rocket be yet another red one, or will we finally see a new track color? The large supports are similar in color to Xcel's, but the small launch/brake supports are a darker blue...hmmm.

I don't think it's safe to call it a rocket just yet. . . but I would put my money on it. Here's a couple of my very bad theme ideas. All of these are record breakers.

Blue Track/Supports/White Crest(or Rails or something I dunno, the bottom is blue while the upper part of it is white) and what we all don't know is that this is a standing roller coaster where you face sideways and get launched. It'll be called something along the lines of 'The Big Kahuna' or 'Tidal Wave' or something to do with surfing.

Blue Supports/Yellow Track where it launches you out and you do massive spins up to the top, do a top hat, and then do massive spins back down. Labeled something like 'Wicked Twister:Next Generation'

Well those are it for now. Don't read those. Too late. You will come to know me as the boy with the bad ideas that you wish you never read.

A 1.6 G launch sideways standing up would not be very well recieved.
That is one big hole. Thanks for the update GAcoaster.

RCDb says:
Make / Model: Intamin AG / Rocket Coaster

I know they've been wrong from time to time, but considering all the photographic evidence and the statement of a very reputable and respectable coaster site, I'd bet the rocket idea is a darn good one.

The question is how big is this rocket going to be, and is this going to be a record-breaker? I for one sure hope so. :)

In my experience, RCDB typically gets preliminary info from the same place we get it: Here.

It's more than likely the Duane saw the photos looked at the disucssions and the evidence and assumed, just like we all do, that it's a rocket.

Not saying you or he are wrong, just saying that RCDB isn't an independant source.

Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

If it breaks the 300 foot barrier(which it should), look to see something above 350. I think there's a chance that it could break the record anywhere from 1-10 feet, but that chance is small, very small. Smaller then the eye of a needle.

I think RCDB is a pretty reliable source, and I think Duane may have some information that we don't (but he probably doesn't.).

You never know. . . what if there were padded side supports to the side that faced the back of the train that slid into place once you were locked in? Still then, probably not.
