"Stealth 1021"

100th reply!

Sorry...my 2.5 cents...If Dragster has been having a bunch of small problems, yet not as many as in the past, and Six Flags is willing to take a big chance on some new-fangled hugomongous coaster, it could be a make-or-break (in more senses than one), not only for the park but for the company as a whole. If they build the largest coaster on record/ever, then it could bring in a whole lotta of money, especially from people here in the Northeast USA that can't ordinarily get out to a place such as Cedar Point, out in Sandusky, OH....whereas SFGadv is in between Philly and NYC, in between Boston and DC, a lot of people commute through here and would love to take a tiny lil sidetrip to check out the newest, most kick-ass coaster on the planet...most of the general public won't know about the problems with Dragster, and they'll just want to ride the ride.

Secondly, if they're not going to build this newest, fastest, biggest coaster, I'm going to obviously go with the dueling-launched 300+ foot coasters, simply because people would still stop by to see that, and hey, it sounds like it would kick major tail....besides...if they're only going to run 2 trains...then wait...2 trains, on 2 coasters...that's 4 trains total running at a time (and increases capacity as compared to 2 on 1 (hey I can do math!)

That's my 2.5 cents...

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

LOL yea, Jungle themed coaster themed to STEALTH! But yea, The announcement is the 29th.

Wow, well at least we finally know it will be the tallest and fastest in the world.

What all the nay sayers saying now? Now the only thing I can think of is 2,480 ft. of track is NOT the track length.

What does Stealth have to do with "feline?

A stealthy tiger...have you ever seen Lion King? Young Simba has to be very stealthy to pounce on Zazu...therefore, Stealth! :)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

The number "450" never sounded so interesting. All that's left to say is...

Hymmmmm...To twist...or not to twist?

If the coaster wars are indeed over, someone forgot to tell Six Flags!

I hope they don't twist, but if the twist on TTD was to keep the negative g's under control like I've read, then they might have to.
A record breaker at my homepark..hmm..who'd a thunk it.

I don't understand why anyone would think the twist had anything to do with the negative G's. It doesn't start 'til you're in would-be freefall.

Rctycoon2k, how can you even postulate that they have designed a "whole new launch style?" Look at the track! It's evident that there is space in the launch track for the brakes to drop down, and there is a guide on the top of the track for the launch sled. The launch system will be the same as Dragster's, end of discussion.

One thing I am wondering (if it indeed will be the tallest/fastest coaster) is how fast they will advertise it to go. Because Dragster only advertises to go 120mph, but I've witnessed it going 125mp, and have heard reports of 128mph. I wonder if this could end up like a pissing match between the parks, much like claims against S:TE being a coaster.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.

So?

On any given day it is probable that it operates at 120. I doubt CP will renege on the stats!

There are neg g's before the free fall and no force to put the rider back in his seat without the twist.

Now I know where I am going next summer! Wow! Anyone think it's going to be over 500 feet.

I didn't say new launch type, I said style. You don't know if the launch cart will be the same, or the design / setup of the motor and such will be the same. Don't talk until you know.

There have obviously been changes to the design since Top Thrill Dragster. What I am saying is maybe one of these changes might be a big change in which would take a total rebuild of the current system on Top Thrill Dragster, hence no significant change to the design on TTD.

Also on issue of the jungle theme and such. Who is determining that Stealth means "Stealth Fighter" theme? Stealth has a definition too, look it up. Stealth doesn't tell you exactly that it will have a Stealth Fighter theme.

In that case, what are these obvious design changes that are so different than Xcelerator and Dragster?

Well,

a) the rider's legs pushing against the restraint will put the rider back in the seat, especially if it's anywhere near tight,

b) that didn't stop them from not twisting on the way up or on Xcel. or SR (note that the instant you go into freefall, it doesn't matter whether you're coming from pos, neg, lateral or any other kind of g's...you're in freefall),

c) there's a crap load of negative g's on the top hat and on all kinds of other similarly trained rides (MF, S:RoS's) and that's not a problem (well...no more so than this would be)

d) if the twist is around the heartline or near the body's center of mass, it won't put anything anywhere.

Over on Screamscape (I know not very reliable of course) they have this listed:

"On Wednesday, September 29th the truth will be revealed about the new Rocket Coaster at SFGAdv. According to ThrillRide, the media invites to the announcement have been sent out with a background image of a huge tower that looks quite a bit like Top Thrill Dragster, along with the face of a roaring white tiger below it and the text, “This eats ALL records”. At this point all we can do is hang on and wait for the announcement. "

He's asking what you propose are the obvious design changes since Intamin built Xcelerator and Dragster that they have implemented on "Stealth."
