Love it or hate it, it's still one of the most interesting coasters ever built...

And even though I've always been in Camp B, I'll always admire PKI for trying something on this scale...

edit: By "interesting", I obviously wasn't referring to the LAYOUT... ;)

Egad! New topic, please.

Does this mean we get to ride it shirtless now?

Do you have any idea what Gods you have tempted with that, the last time Mike was referenced he came back from the dead and like a locust desended onto the offending thread and turned it into the free good people of the earth (aka the shirtless) vs the nazi evil baby killers and not so nice guys club (aka those of us that think its not asking too much to wear a shirt.)

In the name of all that is good and holy on this great Earth please delete your post!!!!

But put your shirt back on first!

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

While I certainly appreciate any and all discussions, as they relate to safety, and particularly to the devastating effects sustained by those that were injured in last summer's "incident," my "let's move on" was merely a gentle nudge towards, er, perhaps, finding some new rides for '07 to sink our blogging/posting teeth into. . .

So very much has already been written on this SOB STORY that one finds oneself weeping over the inevitable outcome, the ride being yanked out after a year of hand-wringing and head-scratching solutions to what was a severe error of judgment in the original design process (God, I never thought I'd be weighing in on THIS--now I've taken the bait!!!)

This addictive tendency to dissect, parse, analyze, re-analyze, run the numbers, run the stats, offer up the hypotheticals, geek it out six ways to Sunday is, well, dare I say it, the very sort of thing that one finds so utterly amusing about coaster enthusiasts. Can't imagine why there is satirical send-ups of us in varoius places across the net and now on our beloved Simpsons (look, when you've gotten the attention of Homer, you MUST be doing something right, or wrong!!)

I think I just heard Homer say to Bart, "DUH!!! You just pulled a NUNGSTER, son!!!"

And, by the way, Charles, yes, you must remember, I am a God-In-Training. . .I worship at the shrine of Lord Gonchar on bended knee. Soon I am to have my own cult. . .following. . .

To know me is to love me. ;)

For the record, I finally went back and read the actual content of the thread, such as it is.

Going back to the early, early days of the SOB STORY, and I can only speak for myself, it's all about the TRAINS. You know how we like to go on about things (see previous post)--all that canny and learned discussion about tracking and layout and "tweeking" is immaterial if the TRAINS DON'T FIT THE TRACK. It's really that simple.

The Trains have never fit the track. The Trains were junk on Day One of Operations and they remained that through the close of the ride last year. They were never even measured properly for leg and feet length. It's always been about the trains. The "shimmy" alone and the carriage "herk-a-jerk" throughout the ride was a clarion message that the trains were never truly "fitting" the ride. The "call the chiropracter" immediately sensation you experienced on the ride was directly correlative to the TRAINS NOT FITTING THE TRACK. You can't wear a size 32 pants if you be sportin' a 38 waistline.

Change the trains and you have an entirely NEW RIDE. Now, let's get on up out of this *****.

There--I am so relieved. I have done my level best to contribute to the discourse of this thread. I hope it has, in some small way, improved mankind. We heroes and Gods-in-Training need some small measurable way of discerning our success/failure.

Even heroes can dream. . .

Wow. Is ***** a word that will actually get a *****. I can't imagine then what ****, ****, **** or ***** will get. . .

Censored, to be sure.

Ah, that's right. This is a family-friendly site, isn't it? The kids are soooooooo not used to hearing words like *****, aren't they???

What the **** is the world coming to????

GOD would spell my name right. Nungester :)
lol

I knew SOB would fail on the day they announcement. Why? The special celebrity they got to make the big announcement. In case you weren't a coaster fan back then, it was none other than the amazing Montel Williams. It was doomed from right then :)

The only more lame celebrity was when they opened up Tower of Terror at DCA. They can get big time celebs to come to Disneyland, but they couldn't get a C list celeb at DCA. The master of ceremonies.....Gallagher! Now I've loved him since like 1983, but let's face it....he's heyday has long since passed! :)

Real Cbuzz quote of the day - "The classes i take in collage are so mor adcanced then u could imagen. Dont talk about my emglihs" - Adamforce
That is hilarious! The only worse choice they could have made besides Montel would have been. . .Fabio. And we all know how well THAT turned out.

I know I don't post here anymore, but If anyone wants to go back and read my old posts, all I've ever had to say about this ride was that the trains were the problem.

Score. :)

Chattanooga needs a ITG2 Machine!
Does anyone have any updates on SOB? It seems all too quiet....

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
I see people up on the second hill everytime it's clear and dry. Don't know what they're doing but someones working on it.

That fact that theres no sign of X Flight is whats intriguing me.

Do they have enough time to install x flight for 2007?

That's because it's not going to PKI, it's going to MiA. D'oh! ;)

I don't think, at this point, that XF will open at any park next year, much less the beginning of the season. It's still being dismantled at GL - maybe it will go hang out with KK at PKI ;)
Yeah maybe it(X-Flight) is being set up at Bonafant(I know its spelled wrong) Gardens and alll those wierd plants are holding pieces of the track in side of them. Yeah I dont think it is going to be ready for 2007

Bolliger/Mabillard for President in '08 NOT Dinn/Summers

Oh goody, SOB (aka WOW) will reopen this year.

By the way........WOW stands for "Waste of Wood"
