Son of Beast closes

The season is pretty much coming to an end. With that said i am doubting that Cedar Fair is going to remover SOB just yet. Don't get me wrong I sure hope they do and replace it with a great new woodie. But im going to take a guess SOB will be standing next spring but not in operation.

Any one else agree?

Great interview, Charles. I read it a yesterday.

Taking SOB's spot is a giant, 400 foot tall, gold, statue of Snoopy.

I would so go back to KI if they do! :)

Lol...I would boycott the place.

We are soooo opposite, Carrie. Sometimes it cracks me up!

^Your article was for Beast, mine was a CCI that Herschend is still scratching their heads over. You win that one. ;)

I also remember one from you about Wild Adventures and Bruesher??

I'm not sure why it was posted and then deleted, but allegedly Son of Beast was cycling for some period of time this morning.

Where was it posted? Here?

Yes... Raptor Jo quoted a "reliable source" and deleted her post a minute later.

I have seen it mentioned on KIC. To me this means that there are probably some engineers there evaluating what they can do to save SOB.

I can't really see them just opening it for the Haunts though.

Before you can be older and wiser you first have to be young and stupid.

Hmmm. Very interesting. So salvaging SOB 'as is' is still on the table. I wouldn't have thunk it.

Thats because in as much as I trusted my source and I can not stand it when someone says something here that isn't true. I thought it best that I delete post until I confident it was true.
Of course I had thought that was BEFORE anyone had a chance to read it!

No, that's not what is implied at all. A third-hand account that someone posts then decides it's not worthy makes not a conclusion about anything.

Jo, you've been here long enough to know better than that. :) With over 32,000 registered users, someone is bound to see it regardless of how briefly it's posted. Then of course, Jeff sees all. :)

I went over to kicentral and checked out the discussion. A new member, in only his fifth post on the forum, reported SOB cycling. There was some additional discussion after that, but it was not corroborated by any additional parties.

What I should have said was:

"If this rumor is proven to be legit, salvaging SOB 'as is' is still on the table."

Because if they are indeed cycling trains, it's a good bet they're not through with the existing layout. Maybe new or improved trains are in store, perhaps with a significant deal of track replacement, maybe even involving some re-engineering of a hill or two a la Mean Streak, but more or less 'as is'.

I'm really not trying to read too much into it. It is interesting to speculate, however.

...or people want to take their final rides. ;)

You mean before the ride kills them and they end up as displays in the haunted house? ;)

I would think that even a lot of folks who had no problem with the KI haunts would not be in favor of a park killing its guests just to add to its haunts. And park sponsored celebrity nites probably wouldn't go over well either in that case. :)

Remember that after the latest complaint the ride did pass inspection. According to one of the news items, the State wants to look at it again before the park re-opens it just because it has been sitting, but the ride did receive a "clean bill of health".

I think it doubtful that the park would want to continue with the ride in its present condition, but at the same time, there is no real reason why they couldn't.

Is SOB passing its inspection even a "good" thing? I mean, the way I look at it, this means that the ride caused a blood vessel in a woman's brain to burst when operating normally.

If anything, I'd think the inspection results would be proof that something needs to be done to the coaster.
