Six Flags Worlds of Adventure has been granted a height variance to build a 210-foot coaster in the Bainbridge Township side of the park. As a condition of the approval, the park agreed not to build in residential and forested areas, and agreed not to seek annexation to the City of Aurora.

Hey, whats wrong with Arrow, they built Magnum and Magnum is still one of the best hyper coasters around. If Arrow could only repeat the quality of work they did on Magnum. However, with Arrows recent financial troubles, why they heck would a park choose a finacially struggling company to build major ride? Personally I wish the park would invest the money that they plan on spending for the coaster into cleaning the park up, training the staff, building employee housing so they would be able to pull from a larger base of employees. (This in no way is stating that SFWoA are all bad) With a larger base of employees they can actually be more picky on who they hire. But, since they are getting a coaster , I would like to see an original layout Intamin. A B&M would look too similar to B:KF.
The article also states:
"Last June Six Flags proposed a 200-foot-high roller coaster in Aurora, on the site of the bird arena near Fairview Road. But city zoning does not allow amusement rides, and residents objected. An aurora committee is studying creating an amusement park district."
So, my questions are the following:
1. Do they still want to make a roller coaster to replace the bird arena, cross the road and go into the parking lot?
2. Wouldn't it be better to have a non-Superman and rather Marine themed ride on the Wild Life side, hopefully with tunnels?
3. Is the rumor of them getting King Cobra from PKI true?
4. Okay, so they moved the floating boardwalk, well, are they still gonna extend the old monorail?
5. Will they get any dark rides?
6. Will the new coaster force the removal of any attractions?
7. What are the complete plans from the new world next year, i.e., boat ride, volcano (?), and anything else?
That about does it!
Thanks,
Zar

Don't forget "Operation Graduation" June 1st @ SRM - bring Pat Koch a graduation card! See Coasterbuzz News for details.
"The new steel roller coaster, which will be designed for the park, will begin near the aquarium. The lift hill will be behind the water ski stadium. The turnaround, which is nearest to the residential areas, will be 60 feet high, Bateman said."
This makes absolutely no sense to me. Here's a link to a satellite image of the site. This path will basically take the ride right down the middle of the park and curl around to the only open area inside the park, which is the link between the two sides. I really can't see them disrupting the entire park with a ride of this magnitude. However, I do see them using the link area, but not going right down the center of Sea World. Hopefully more info will come to light soon.

While their bunny hops are better, the first drops will amaze you with their cookie-cutter, me-too sameness as Arrow. That is, except with a much bigger train with a longer nose.
Toss in another Intamin vote.

1) If you notice, I didn't say different from Arrow, I said Intamin and B&M.
2)Didn't say it was what I would prefer, only what I predicted.
3) Phantom's Revenge is QUITE different from Magnum or any other hyper. It all depends on the designer...

So Far So Good...So What?!
I agree, Clones are unoriginal, boring, and if SFWoA is going to put in their first "big" coaster, make it original and give them the signature ride the park deserves..it has come a loong way since Geauga Lake
I actually agree with Mark's reasoning on why it could be a B&M. Between Cedar Point and Kennywood, there are already Intamin and Morgan hypers nearby. A S:RoS style ride might impress many of us more than Millie does, but the GP WOULD just go "gee, a smaller version of what CP has". Whereas a B&M would be something unique to the area.
ApolloAndy, Kennywood is actually even closer to SFWoA than that. About 2 hours on a good day.

Yeah, a B&M would be nice for the park, but they have a big B&M sit down/floorless on the other side of the lake..about a 10 minute walk away, I think it would look to similar..thats just my opinion. I really think a good Intamin twister would be good.
Is this going to happen for 2003?

Based on the diagram in this morning's paper, it will not be a twister but an out and back. It will head north from the Aquarium, over the Batman Stadium and towards Happy Harbor, then turn right and probably into the current parking area behind Pirates/Mission: Bermuda Triangle at the corner of Depot Road and Brewster.
The only thing I see is the ride may not have many steep drops as it will be rising above many structures.

I know people are going to lash out at me, But it might very well be a B&M hyper. Figure:
1)- There arn't any B&M hypers in the area
2)- They got BKF 2 (it will be 3) years ago. Possible B&M "Package".
3)- Intamins located within a 200 mile radius, S:ROS, MF, WT.
I dont know, but I would expect a B&M. Don't lose all hopes for an Intamin, it is still possible.

How much more floorless can they get?
