Six Flags Worlds of Adventure to get approval for hyper

Posted | Contributed by Alan

Six Flags Worlds of Adventure has been granted a height variance to build a 210-foot coaster in the Bainbridge Township side of the park. As a condition of the approval, the park agreed not to build in residential and forested areas, and agreed not to seek annexation to the City of Aurora.

I would rule out a 4D since they already have a flying (I'm using that term very loosely) with X-Flight. My vote goes for either a B&M or Intamin hyper named Goliath.

I'd say "Goliath" or "Titan" both sound about right, Scott.

But I would really love to see my boys at Arrow come up with something.

I'm hoping for a B&M style hyper....

All I've been on have been Intamin style hypers (millennium force, Superman: Ride of Steel... etc). I heard Apollo's Charriot was really great. I bet B&M could really develop a ride with a lot of air-time and great speed!

Here's to B&M and NOT to:
- Intamin
- Arrow
- Chance Morgan

....Summer is only a short 91 days long. How much of that time are you going to use at the amusement parks??

I have never been there so please excuse my lack of knowledge. Is the Bainridge township the Wild life or ride side of the park? If its going in the Wild Life side, wouldnt it make sense to theme the coaster with its surroundings?

ladies and gentlemen, due to an increase in line jumping, people caught cutting in line will no longer be ejected from the park. u will be ejected from the ride

Looks like one thing is definite: whomever end up being the manufacturer, not everyone will be pleased.

Excellent. But, this debunks the rumors of SFWOA getting that mysterious Giga/Tera coaster that's so strongly rumored to show up here in the states.

Well, I had lunch with the VP of US sales at Chance Morgan and he mentioned that SF wanted to moved SFM's hyper to another park in the US. He did mention something about it being in the midwest.. I would definitely consider SFWOA a possibility considering the height of SFMs hyper was.... dum dum dum.... 210 FEET :)

Heres another idea. Could it be something like the new B&M hyper Silver Star or close to it?

Good question if the Bainridge township is the wild-life or ride-side of the park...

Well, good if you don't know the answer AND have actually been there. I wish they were a little more specific on the location. Maybe it's on the other side of the lake that has no development (not the boardwalk, but the opposite side).

We all know it's not going to be themed after Superman, so that's a gimmie. I'm just curious on the length and location. Manufacture isn't really that big of a deal... but it does offer a different ride depending on who develops it. I guess Intamin would be nice for their famous overbanked turns.

It's ashame it won't be the 300+ foot coaster that was actually a true rumor (oxymoron??), but hey... if they play their cards right, it will wind up being a top 5 steel coaster in the US of A or even world!!

Again, if they can't develop a portion of the forest, where are they referring to?? The boardwalk where they were planning on making a tropical forest area, or what? It'd be ashame if this hampers their long-term plans to really develop the wild-life side of the park into what they initially said was going to be something spectacular!!!!

In response to GregLeg on the forums thread, I have ridden PR, and while I found it to be magnificent, it wasn't in the same league as AC or MF, in my opinion. Of course, I've managed a grand total of ONE lap on it, so I can't speak with great authority.

For my own selfish reasons, because I'll never get to SFNE in all probability, I'd like to see an S:RoS, but the more I think about it, the less likely I think that is. I think the GP would just see it as a smaller MF. Considering that CP already has built a bigger, better S:UE, I don't think that SF would want another "little brother" coaster. Yes, I realize that many enthusiasts find S:RoS to be superior, but I don't think that most park goers would agree.

So to that end, I predict a B&M hyper, similar to AC, and I'm secretly hoping for a 4-D.

I hope it's a Morgan. There aren't any Morgans in that area of the country...or a 4D of course...save me the cost of flying to LA. :)
Whatever it is, I sure won't be complaining.

This is great news for the park. This is reallllly a big leap forward for the park when it comes to compeating with CP. CP's main advantage over SFWoA was tall coasters. Now that that won't be an issue we'll see how they do.

Where has the magic gone in the name Disney?

Here's an update from the Plain Dealer:

"The new steel roller coaster, which will be designed for the park, will begin near the aquarium. The lift hill will be behind the water ski stadium. The turnaround, which is nearest to the residential areas, will be 60 feet high, Bateman said."

The article also confirms that it is a hypercoaster, so no 4-D.

Aaron, thrilled to be getting another hyper in Ohio!

Joe Carroll: There aren't any Morgan's in that area of the country? What about PR? It's only three hrs. away, right?

AC?, RB?, MF?, DD?, PR? Who can keep track of it all?

I am excited about this also but Brendan w what you said about Cedar Point advantage over them was tall coasters is false they have more than just taller coaster they have more, a better invert, a stand up, a hyper, a giga, a better impulse in Wicked twister, more rides, and a spaceshot/free fall ride in power tower. Like you said though this will help them a lot to compete with Cedar Point.
So, I guess it will be a hyper after all. Now lets just hope its an intamin!
I'd like to see a Goliath at SFH and SROS at SFNE combination. That would be sheer enthusiast heaven! Watch it not even be Intamin. They'll get Arrow or Morgan.

I bet that 60ft turnaround is an overbanked turn ;)
